1047 Games, the devs behind the Splitgate games, have announced EMPULSE. EMPULSE is a new 6v6 shooter with player movement and gameplay mechanics inspired by the Titanfall games. So, if you were a fan of the Titanfall games, you should at least check out its gameplay trailer.
In EMPULSE, movement will be at the core of every fight. Players can wallrun forwards and backwards, swing with a grapple hook, launch off Holojumps, and alter surfaces with P.A.I.N.T. bombs to gain tactical advantage. Every district in the post-utopian streets of Freehold will give you the surfaces, the verticality, and the routes to chain together movement and find your flowstate.
Like in Titanfall, the game will also have player-controllable mechs that will be spawned on the map. These mechs will be armed with heavy weapons, unique abilities, and a massive health pool. Players can claim one to dominate the next firefight, or rally their squad to bring one down and swing momentum back in their favor.
In a way, EMPULSE feels like a mix between Brink and Titanfall. However, I will be honest here. While the gameplay mechanics appear to be solid, the art style and the map do not look that great to me. EMPULSE will come out first on Early Access. So, during this period, it may get some more interesting maps. But this first look is a bit underwhelming.
Anyway, 1047 Games has also shared the game’s official PC system requirements. To run EMPULSE, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i3-6100, an Intel Core i5-2500K, or an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or an AMD Radeon RX 470.
The devs recommend using an Intel Core i5-6600K, an Intel Core i7-4770, or an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 with 12GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or an AMD Radeon RX 580.
Sadly, we don’t know the resolution, graphics settings, and framerate these PC specs target. However, these are really low PC requirements. So, EMPULSE should run comfortably on a wide range of PC systems.
1047 Games will launch EMPULSE on Steam Early Access on June 24!
