A new video has surfaced online, showcasing 22 minutes of gameplay from the 2022 canceled version of Metro 4 (or Metro 2039). This video has a lot of placeholder graphics, but it can give you an idea of what the devs were aiming to create with this new Metro game.
I don’t know why 4A Games decided to cancel this 2022 version. Perhaps the story was a mess? Because, from what I can see, the gameplay mechanics appear fine. Yes, this is a concept/WIP video, but everything feels like a Metro game.
Yesterday, I shared two other videos from Metro 2039. However, as you can clearly see, those videos are from a better-looking game. So, I don’t think those were from the canceled 2022 version. Instead, they appear to be from the current version of Metro 2039 that is currently in development.
According to rumors, Metro 2039 will be announced later this month. Rumors also suggest that Sony may hold a new State of Play event for third-party companies. So, we might get the announcement of this new Metro game at that event.
Now, as with all rumors and leaks, I suggest taking this video with a grain of salt. It sure as hell appears legit. However, in an age where AI can create pretty much everything, this could also be fake.
Anyway, I’m sure our Metro fans will find this cool. It’s a bummer we won’t be able to play this Metro 4 game. So, let’s at least hope that Metro 2039 will be better, in every way, than it.
Stay tuned for more!
