Now here is something truly amazing. Modder ‘MFO’ has released a mod that lets you play Jak and Daxter in first-person mode as Half-Life’s Gordon Freeman. This mod will completely change how you experience this classic PS2 game. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
For those who did not know, a team of modders brought the classic Jak and Daxter PS2 game to the PC in July 2022. Now, after 3 years, it is fully playable, from start to finish. On top of that, their project, OpenGOAL, can also run Jak II.
Now, what this new mod does is completely transform the game into a first-person shooter, inspired by Half-Life. Jak will now move and have access to all the weapons of Gordon Freeman. In other words, you can play as Gordon Freeman and shoot your enemies in Jak and Daxter.
What’s crazy here is that everything appears to be working flawlessly. Although Jak and Daxter did not have any shooting mechanics, all of the imported guns seem to work properly. I don’t know how this is possible, but this is one of the coolest mods I’ve seen.
So, if you’ve always wanted to experience Jak and Daxter as a first-person shooter, you can go ahead and download OpenGOAL from here. To find the mod, head over to the “Mods” section. Then, search for Gordan & Daxter.
Another cool mod for the PC version of Jak and Daxter is Teamruns. Teamruns lets you play with friends both online and locally. You can explore and complete the game together in a shared world where you can see and interact with your friends. As with the Half-Life Mod, you can find it in the “Mods” section of OpenGOAL.
Again, this is one of the wildest mods I’ve seen. The fact that it actually works is crazy. This shouldn’t be working, yet here we are with something no one could have even considered possible. And this, right here, is why we love mods.
Kudos to our reader “durka durka” for bringing it to our attention!
