The Crew 2-2

The latest update for The Crew 2 adds an official offline mode

Ubisoft has just released a new update for The Crew 2 that adds an official offline mode to it. Thanks to this offline mode, players will be able to enjoy the game even when its servers get shut down.

Ubisoft has explained that online and offline saves are separate. Any progress you make while playing offline won’t transfer to your online save. You can update your offline save anytime by exporting your online save again, but this will replace your old offline file and erase any progress made while offline.

The Crew 2 was built first and foremost as a multiplayer experience. As such, some features won’t be accessible when playing offline. To be more precise, here are the features that are not available in Offline Mode.

  • Crew Credits purchases (vehicle bundles, vanity items) and the Far & Beyond shop in all 4 Hubs.
  • LIVE Summits.
  • All multiplayer content, including PvP, Crews, crew features, news feed, leaderboards, ghosts, and statistics menus. Only your own best times will be recorded per race.
  • UGC features, including the Race Creator and Livery Editor. Custom liveries will not transfer to offline saves.
  • Some Hobbies and Achievements (Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Ubisoft Connect) that require online-only actions.

To be honest, I’m totally fine with these features being limited to Online Mode. The main goal of the Stop Killing Games campaign was to add an Offline Mode. It was not to move each and every online feature over. As long as players can still play and progress through the main story, I’m perfectly okay with it.

Like always, Steam and Ubisoft Connect will download this update the next time you launch their clients. In case you’re wondering, there isn’t any changelog for this patch. According to reports, it’s around 10GB in size.

Ubisoft also plans to release an Offline Mode for The Crew: Motorfest.

Have fun!

  1. and it only took for them to see the crew 1 with a offline serve emulator to do it. HAHHAHAHA i wonder…. if this is like rainbow six vegas 2 that they patched the crashes with a crack…..ahahhahahahaha.

    1. They already planned Offline mode for TC2 and Motorfest way before the fanmade offline mode for TC, the real question is why they planned an official offline mode for these 2 but not for the original ?

      1. they didnt planned it, people got mad at shutting down the crew 1 so they put the crew 2 on sale for one buck and said they are "committed to the crew 2 and motorfest" being kept alive and they are "exploring options" and we didnt hear anything until now, right after the crew 1 god a offline mode.

    2. While preserving games is always a good thing, I'm almost completely convinced that The Crew 1 being preserved is more a result of the "Stop Killing Games" being a hot topic rather than actually wanting to preserve games, because there are just so many games that weren't preserved and are lost, and I also have a feeling that when more always-online games shut down their servers in the future, no one will care or be motivated enough to preserve them like the modders who preserved The Crew 1.

      1. it was done by the same people who brought back test drive unlimited 2, there are other games that were saved like battleborn, but does anyone care? I hope nfs 2015 is saved.

        1. TDU2 has always been playable offline with some easy workarounds, it just became more convenient with Universal Launcher.

As for NFS 2015, a modder has been able to make an Offline mode but it doesn't save progress for now as the game doesn't have any form of local saving, hope they could fix that.

          1. Regarding the NFS 2015 part; that's a pretty nice thing to hear, thanks for the info! It's likely just a matter of time until it becomes playable completely offline.

What's interesting about NFS 2015 in particular other than the other already preserved always-online games is that NFS 2015 has Denuvo on top of being always-online, meaning that they will probably crack Denuvo too. If that's the case, hope Ghost Recon Breakpoint gets the same treatment sometime later.

          2. NFS by Ghost Games from 2015 that has been ported to PC in 2016, it has always online requirements

        2. About Battleborn; yeah, but that wasn't until nearly 3 years after it was shut down, meanwhile The Crew was brought back in just a year after its shut down.

  2. Great developement, nice to see that at least something happened.

Now please no more online / multiplayer achievements anymore and the world gets a tiny bit better

    1. I'm very happy to see a big company cave in to sense, even if i couldn't care less about their games. This sets a good precedent, even if just a single one.

Seems like the finally realized it's better to offer an offline mode and have a years-long tail of sales, rather than have it be unprofitable and end it and earn 0 anymore. Wow! Right? Where's my PhD?

  3. FINALLY.
I've always been more interested in these games than Forza, cos there are motorbikes. 😍
(which I don't have the courage to drive in real life.)
