Cloud Imperium has released a new in-engine trailer for Star Citizen that highlights some of the key features of Alpha 4.4. And, although the game has been in development for a long time, it at least looks incredibly beautiful.
From what I know, Cloud Imperium plans to release Star Citizen Alpha 4.4 next month. And, most of the things that you will see below will be featured in it.
In this trailer, we get to see the brand-new Nyx system. This system will have lots of different biomes, creatures, and environments.
Nyx is a small rocky planet with almost no atmosphere. It’s too close to its star for humans to survive without protection. Because of this, the surface is extremely hot and blasted with strong solar radiation. There’s very little air to block the heat or radiation, making it a dangerous place to stay for long periods. Players will need special gear to explore its harsh environment safely.
Nyx will be located close to its star, like Stanton’s inner planets. However, it will have much harsher conditions than most other inner worlds. The system will be lawless, unlike the UEE-controlled ones, and will be even more dangerous than the Pyro system.
Star Citizen Alpha 4.4 will let players explore the entire surface of Nyx. You’ll be able to mine for resources, deal with dangerous weather, and face challenges like extreme heat and radiation. The update will also include risky mining missions, trading and salvage opportunities, outlaw mining zones, and chances for solo prospecting.
As I said before, Star Citizen looks stunning. It’s easily one of the best-looking games out there. What’s surprising is that the game has been in development for a long time. Usually, when that happens, a game starts to look outdated. This is an issue that plagues all games that are in development hell. Duke Nukem Forever, anyone? But Star Citizen breaks that rule. Even after all these years, it still looks amazing.
There is still no ETA on when Star Citizen will be fully released. We also don’t know whether Squadron 42 will come out in 2026. The good news is that they look amazing. And no. You shouldn’t pre-order them or join the crowdfunding campaign. Just wait until they come out. After all, there are lots of PC games you can play until then.
Enjoy!

They're getting closer, the planet tech is seriously impressive.
SQ42 needs to drop on schedule though, this is already the most mismanaged videogame in history
on schedule doesn't mean anything, they change the schedule (or bury it entirely) at least once a year. 42 was supposed to come out years ago. they don't care.
It looks okay for a game that was released in 2014… Ohh, wait… 🙂
Name me a single game in 2014 that had planet generation at this scale and fidelity. This comparison is nonsense.
Are you re**rded? The "devs" promised to released this "game" in 2014, but it was never released.
That's a completely different discussion from how it looks.
There has never been a release date, promised or otherwise for SC.
Scam Citizen scamming again?
please gib moneyy .. need mooney . You give €350 they give your grandchildren a dream of flying in space somewhere.
Did you mean "great grandchildren"?
Hey you might get another tech demo on the way! After that they need to rewrite 1/2 the code since it became obsolete for the modern era….
Naturally, got it for free and still waiting… and lets just say it was a while since i got that optane drive with the "free game" from work

That's hilarious. Optane got discontinued years ago. The game's perpetual alpha outlasted the Optane product line.
I don't think the fact that it's been developped for ten years necessarily means it should look outdated. We're at a stage where engines evolutions are minor. Devs can make up for an average engine by extra putting work into art direction, and that seems to be the case here.
I'm playing the new Dying light these days, and though the engine has not evolved, it definitely feels like an evolution over the last one only because they've added tons of environmental effects, especially weather-related ones. I'd also compare Star Citizen to No man's sky: just look up comparison videos on youtube, how the game was released ten years ago Vs what it is today..
They drop a trailer once in a while, ask for more money, get the money, then vanish for a year or so, and the cycle keeps repeating over and over.
They’ve figured out this loophole that gamers are willing to spend money carelessly on games :)))
they hardly "vanish", they are working on the game ffs.
Oh yeah. The endless work!
They've released content consistently nearly every month this year. What is the definition of work to you?
What content?
Why doesn’t it ever end?
This game was supposed to be released in 2014. What year is it now?
Why isn’t the game getting a final release?
Even GTA 6 is getting close to its release date, but this game isn’t, even though we all know it’s not even one-tenth of GTA.

COME ON, GUYS. I didn't want to have to say this…but here we are…
Buy up those ships!!! Chris Roberts needs your help! I know this is some very sad news…. but he needs to trade in his superyacht (it's almost a year old now!) for a brand new model!
Please don't let him down this time! Get out your credit card numbers!
"Rarr rarr, it's a scam, it'll never be finished!
Not my words, but the words of the whiners in the comments.
And how many more years, and millions of dollars, will it take before you wake up and realize it's a scam? They have no intention of releasing a finished game. They could have done that more than 10 years ago, but they discovered an infinite money glitch, and they are exploiting it until it stops working.
how is it a scam? The game is there, you pay for it if you want. It's no different than any other early access title.
Ah yes, an alpha test of a game that will never be finished, because the perpetual alpha became an infinite money glitch. They should have had a final release 10+ years ago.
Actually it keeps on progressing. Adding stuff at regular intervals. gameplay systems are being worked and slowly released. Bugs are abundant but it looks like they aim for completing most of the promised content before ironing out the game issues.
Yes, the perpetual alpha that never gets finished keeps "progressing". That doesn't mean it's working towards a final release.
that is the literal definition of progressing. do you need help to dress yourself in the morning?
Progressing to what? To milking their fans wallets again? Because it certainly isn't to making a finished game.

Did you just wake me up for some vaporware again?
meh, next news article please.
i still laugh at how the campaign demonstration crashed multiple times and broke, bros, this game isnt real, it has been in development for so long, that everything they make is incompatible with everything now, so more bugs.
Nice expansive landscapes
Good thing they're making trailers in 8K. Nice priorities.
Anyone in the comments saying Star Citizen is a scam hasn't played it lately.
