The Early Access Open Beta phase for Battlefield 6 is in full swing, and after waiting over 40 minutes, I was finally able to play. So, let’s see how the game runs on an NVIDIA RTX 4090 at 4K.
I wanted to try the beta with both the NVIDIA RTX 4090 and the NVIDIA RTX 5080. After all, the game supports DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Gen. So, it would be interesting to test MFG in this multiplayer title. However, the beta currently has extremely long server queues. Thus, I’ve decided to only test the NVIDIA RTX 4090.
For these first 4K benchmarks, I used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, and the NVIDIA RTX 4090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit, and the GeForce 580.88 driver.
BF6 requires Secure Boot. So, in order to play it, you’ll have to enable it. You can read this article to find out how you can enable it.
Sadly, MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner do not work with Battlefield 6. The game does have a setting for Performance Stats, but it uses a really small font. As such, it will be hard to see the framerate while playing.
At 4K/Max Settings with DLSS 4 Quality, the NVIDIA RTX 4090 manages to push an average framerate of 115FPS. Then, at 4K/Max Settings with DLAA, the RTX 4090 manages to push framerates over 70FPS at all times. In other words, this GPU is able to provide a constant 60FPS experience at 4K.
By enabling DLSS 4 Frame Generation, we were able to reach over 100FPS. However, at one point, I couldn’t revive one of my teammates. I’m not sure if Frame Gen was the cause of this. All I know is that this happened only once, and that was when Frame Gen was enabled.
It’s also worth noting that I did not experience any stutters. Even when there was total chaos on screen, the game stayed super smooth. Also, in case you’re wondering, no. Battlefield 6 doesn’t have any Ray Tracing effects. And despite that, the game looks stunning. Would Ray Tracing or Path Tracing make it look even better? Definitely. But DICE already did a great job with its lighting system. So, even without RT, the game looks amazing.
In my opinion, the best way to experience Battlefield 6 on the NVIDIA RTX 4090 is with DLSS 4 Quality Mode. Well, that is if you want to game at 4K. Yes, you can get over 60FPS at Native 4K with DLAA. However, this is a fast-paced game, and you’ll need framerates higher than 100FPS.
EA will open the beta to everyone on August 9th. So, it will be interesting to see whether this will have any impact on the server queue. Right now, in its Early Access phase, there are extremely long server queues. At one point, I was placed at 250K.
Battlefield 6 will come out on October 10th. And, if the Open Beta is anything to go by, it will be one of the best-selling games of 2025. And rightfully so. BF6 goes back to the Battlefield roots. It has the classes we all loved, and the classic game modes. It also puts a lot of emphasis on destruction. This is the BF game most of its die-hard fans have been waiting for.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
