Modder ‘GameROOSH’ is currently working on a remaster of Half-Life 2 on the Source 2013 Engine. This fan remaster will have improved graphics and physics, and we’ll soon get a demo for it.
The remaster is called Half-Life 2: Remake and promises some cool upgrades. It will have realistic bullet physics and breakable objects, like in the Battlefield games. Shadows will change in real-time as you play, thanks to Cascade Shadow Maps. You can also look forward to moving sky effects that make the game feel even more alive.
The demo for Half-Life 2: Remake will most likely focus on the Lost Coast Demo. This was the demo that Valve also released to showcase the capabilities of the Source Engine for Half-Life 2. So, to avoid ruining the first hours of the game, the modder will most likely remaster that demo.
There is currently no ETA on when this demo will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Below, you can find some Alpha screenshots from the mod. These screenshots are not final. Still, they might give you an idea of what you can expect from it.
Now, while this is a cool project, I don’t know whether it’s something that will interest a lot of players. Half-Life 2 RTX Remix feels like a better remaster of this classic HL2 game. At least in my opinion. It also appears to be in a more advanced stage than Half-Life 2: Remake.
Speaking of Half-Life 2, there are some other cool mods you can download for it. First, there’s a 6.8GB HD Texture Pack that makes the game’s graphics look much better. Then, there’s a mod called Entropy: Zero 2 that gives you a whole new story with seven chapters to play. And if you’re a fan of Opposing Force, there’s a fan-made sequel called Half-Life: Through The City, and you can check out a demo.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

HL2 RTX is extremely demanding and makes drastic art-style changes, and to be honest we don't know how it will look on the remaining levels, don't get me wrong i'm happy that it exists and i love it but this "remake" is still very interesting and far more accessible and it also promises updated physics, HL2 RTX only focuses on graphics
Totally agree.
To be fair, the art style changes have been reverted in a patch after a lot of backlash and now it looks pretty much like the original.
Yeah i heard something like that, anyway that’s great, my point is these two can coexist and it’s great to have multiple options
Looks pretty dope. In other news you need to see Black Mesa Remixed, the graphics is insane

What!!! How did i miss this article, i'm everyday here.
i missed that as well tbh
RSS
RSS actually doesn't work, and it's the very reason why I also miss many articles. I use QuiteRSS and it shows like 50% of DSOG articles.
I use the Feedbro extension for Chrome in the Vivaldi browser, and it seems to work fine. I don't think it gets updates anymore, and certain things (like it's Twitter support) may not work anymore, but for RSS and Atom it works fine. Seems to work fine with Facebook as well.
You know, we already have a Half Life 2 remake in an updated Source engine with enhanced visuals. It's called FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod.
