Relic Entertainment has announced that the Definitive Edition of Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War will be released on August 14th. To celebrate this announcement, the team shared a new trailer, as well as the game’s PC minimum requirements.
As Relic noted, the Definitive Edition will include everything from Dawn of War and all its standalone expansions. Players will get 4 classic campaigns, 9 different armies, and over 200 maps.
The game will have better graphics, including 4K support and upgraded textures that will be 4 times better than the original ones. Players can also expect new lighting effects that make everything look more realistic while keeping the original style. World lighting, reflections, and shadows will all be improved. Units will also shine better and have glowing parts that stand out during battles.
A new and better gameplay camera will let you see the battlefield more clearly, and the HUD will now be better for widescreen monitors. Not only that, but the game now runs on a 64-bit system. It will also work with over 20 years’ worth of community-made mods.
To run this new Definitive Edition, PC gamers will at least need an Intel i5 6th-gen or AMD Ryzen desktop processor with 4 cores @3GHz. They will also need 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 or an AMD Radeon R9 370. The game will still be using the DX9.0c API. It will also require 25GB of free disk space.
Sadly, Relic has not shared the recommended PC requirements. For what it’s worth, the above PC minimum specs are higher than those of the original Dawn of War. Still, the Definitive Edition won’t need a high-end PC system. My guess is that it will run on a huge range of PC configurations. At the same time, I don’t see any MAJOR visual improvements in the trailer. So, make sure to temper your expectations.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

DoW I – Pretty darn good rts, toyed around alot with my friend in that game… that said… why not a new game? Darn remaster upon remaster… where is the new meat!
remaster takes several hours of AI work to make, new game takes years and millions upon millions they no longer have due to all the woke flops
True that, they need to milk. Hope that milking alteast wont result in more degenerate first and the rest 96% annoyed yet again, it's not viable. Ask Jaguar. They just lost well over 95% after jumping down that woke cliff.
Last dow – DoW3 was dow light with lane-moba glued on and a "campaign" that was a tic-tac-toe tutorial between the factions that i guess absolutely no-one of the single-players liked, who would have thought being forced to play 2 factions you dont like to get one mission of the one you like then rinse and repeat? Darn they fallen!

30 percent discount for a game that I already have, no thanks.
A DOW4 that is similar to DOW1 with DOW2 graphics and nothing like DOW3 at all is the only thing that's going to save relic.
Telling myself I shouldn't be excited, but I am. Many fond memories of the original and am down for this.
I liked this game quite a bit back in the day. I was thinking about playing it again for some time so hopefully this remaster is a good one.
The only good thing is, the x64 .exe files, that means support for higher RAM usage and more mods.
At least they learned something after the debacle with the Space Marine Remaster. That one was so overpriced that they offered a formal excuse, an offer for refunds no matter the play time and a big discount for owners of the original…
"A big discount" LMAO, hardly. It was only 50% off and a time limited one at that, expiring at the end of the Steam Summer sale. $20 USD after discount for a barebones remaster, with questionable art + audio direction changes.
Master Crafted is some sort of legal tape manuvering cash grab by Sega. The publishing rights to the OG release has defaulted to the newly independent Relic. (The one silverlining is that it makes the game available to console owners once again, after being absent for 2 hardware generations.)
Lazy remaster is lazy… meh.
