YouTube’s ‘Cycu1’ has shared a video that compares the upcoming remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with its original 2006 version. This early graphics comparison is based on the leaked screenshots that surfaced online a few days ago.
Now the cool thing here is that Cycu1 used identical scenes under the same weather conditions. In other words, this is a 1-1 comparison. As such, we can easily see the visual improvements that the remaster brings to the table.
The lighting is perhaps the biggest improvement of Oblivion Remastered. According to reports, the remaster will be using Unreal Engine 5 for its renderer. So, if that’s the case, we can assume that it will take advantage of Lumen. Thanks to the new lighting, we also have more advanced shadows.
From the looks of it, Virtuous has rebuilt almost everything. All objects and characters have more polygons now. Take, for example, the statue in the second comparison. The devs have recreated it, and as a result of that, it looks more detailed. The same can be said about the enemy in the third comparison.
Not only that, but the indoor environments during the night look WAY BETTER than before. The original version of Oblivion did not feature any major AO effects. As such, the indoor environments at night looked flat. On the other hand, the remaster looks much better thanks to its new more advanced lighting system.
Let’s also address the elephant in the room. Does the remaster look better than Oblivion modded? Or is it underwhelming as the remasters of the GTA Trilogy? In my opinion, Oblivion Remastered looks WAY BETTER than Oblivion modded. I’ve played Oblivion with mods. And no. You can’t make the original game look as good as what we see in the remaster.
Overall, I like the remaster better in all of the comparison screenshots. And just to be clear, these screenshots came from a leak, so they’re low-quality and a little blurry. Even with that, I still think the remaster looks much better. But that’s just my opinion.
According to the latest rumor, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will come out next week. Microsoft and Bethesda will most likely release it during the week of April 21st. This means that we’ll get it sometime between April 21st and April 25th. We still don’t have an exact ETA for when it will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

is that ai music?
Who cares? it sounds like something low testosterone teenage midget would listen to.
So you as a teenager?
Did I hit a nerve mr.midget?
This is funny
Why did they turn the grass brown? This isn't a post apocalypse game. And it's not the desert
"They" want you to be depressed.
Everything is turning into s***, it's the trend in the 2020s.
Haven't you noticed how the vast majority of games, especially Western ones, are extremely dark, desaturated, and characters look deformed, almost inhuman, depressed as hell and sick?
Now compare to how games looked in the 90s. Night and day.
This is just part of the big plan. A depressed person is weaker, less likely to fight.
Then again, we already had that horrifying "piss filter" trend in the 2000s.
I guess that "thanks" to UE5, there's now a revival of the piss! Yay.

sighs. Unreal Engine 5. Unless devs optimize (and we all know how great Bethesda's optimization is), I expect this to run about as well as a wet fart. Maybe it'll be optimized but buggy, but when it comes to UE5, that's more or less the same thing.
The rumor I heard last year was that they had another company working on it, so maybe we'll get lucky
This is a significantly larger upgrade that I'd expect from a "remaster." Almost looks like a remake.
Why is he using horribly upscaled screenshots of the UE5 "remaster"?
Also, there's no chance I'd be willing to spend money on this. I'd be more likely to pay for Skyblivion.
Seeing the Microsoft DEI nonsense that leaked and the idiots they have working on Fable and Halo are they going to censor the game and cut things out for the non existent modern audience. If so, who cares. Things like the KOTOR remake was doomed the second Disney pushed oversight and claimed entire conversations were "problematic". It was leaked they turned Saul Karath and Calo Nord into women and they originally hired a mentally ill woman (Sam Maggs) who went to Toronto Police claiming to have been sexually assaulted in GTA V (LOL).
At that point just make your own game (that will fail). When freaking Bioware games with lesbian cat girls aren't progressive enough, what is? The EAware games made by new hires that lose 100 million where the women all look like the mentally ill devs who hate biological women because they can't look like them?
I'm no longer excited about ANY remake/remaster unless they clearly state that the game will not be changed from the original as far as content, conversations, gameplay options and character design and art style.
Those aren't remakes/remasters and they aren't even fan fiction. They are hatemail from unstable people who hate the thing they claim to be a fan of and are only in the business to subvert it and ruin things that make others happy. Why? Cus they are miserable c^nts who want people to be as miserable as them.
Doesn't apply here, so…
Game journalism is already selling it as a REMAKE not a remaster.
It's a remaster…
Tell that to the game journalism outlets selling it as a REMAKE.
Can't wait to check it out and see if it feels much better to play than the original with the touched up mechanics too!
Only way this remake will be good is if it's running original code underneath and just new UE5 graphics on top of it. Something like Ninja Gaiden 2 Black
That's what they are doing from what I've heard.
So all the jank will still be there. That does not bode well.
Gah hope it wont use unreal 5, it would mean almost guaranteed bad stutters and while good base detail its before its smeared output, their base taa implementation is cheap and produce blurry trash!

Yay they added the new gen Unreal 5's PissFilter to the game with the new price tag.
People say this game svcks, but I've never played it so it's a win for sure!
