Last week, Sony released The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered on PC. And, as I wrote in my PC Performance Analysis, the PC launch version is in a better state than the one for the first game. Still, this doesn’t mean that it is flawless. And, surprisingly enough, there is a really easy way to significantly improve your PC performance.
For whatever reason, the game performs horribly on NVIDIA GPUs with Rebar enabled. And while the NVIDIA driver has Rebar disabled by default, it appears to be bugged at the moment.
What you need to do is go into your BIOS and disable Rebar from there. And that’s it. Once you’ve done it, you will get a much better performance. NXGamer showcased this fix in his latest video. And yes, I can verify that this does work. I also saw a significant performance boost on my main PC gaming system when I disabled it.
My main issue here is that Rebar can be beneficial in other titles. So, it’s a pain in the a*s to disable it just for one game. Thus, I hope that Nixxes and Iron Galaxy will do something to fix this awkward behavior. Either that, or NVIDIA should step in and force Rebar to be disabled for this game via its drivers. For real this time.
Another issue that NXGamer spotted was the fact that The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered can run worse when you lower the in-game settings. My guess is that this is without restarting the game. Because I haven’t witnessed these issues on both the NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. Then again, I was usually restarting the game during each and every change. So, I don’t really know what’s going on here, and why NXGamer had these issues. Still, this is another thing that Nixxes and Iron Galaxy should take a look at.
In a way, this scalability issue reminded me of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Pretty interesting that these two games suffer from somewhat similar scalability issues. So, let’s hope that Nixxes and Iron Galaxy will address them. Because right now, Ubisoft has done nothing about them.
Stay tuned for more!

I'll give you a better quality-of-life tip for this:
Uninstall, then refund.
Why would I uninstall one of the best games ever made because a bunch of virgins are mad over death of some boring t*rd of a protagonist? Good riddance.
It's rare for me to like modern video games, but I think this game is one of my favorite games of all time and THE best third person action game.
They just use NASA computers to test games, not even notice how the game is performing with one thing enabled or not.
The missing blood and water simulation effects need to be addressed. This was an extremely impressive feature in the console release/s and it's absence in the PC version is unacceptable.
Water as well?! Ah damn, I hope for a patch. People that know me are so annoyed because I cannot stop talking about the dynamic water in Part I :/
I've stopped playing only because of this otherwise it's a 10/10 game for me.
Turning off r bar does nothing in the case of RTX 3080. I did not notice any performance increase
Unoptimized garbage.
Welp, as I wont be buying, let alone installing this woke infested mess, its thankfully not a problem for me.
Weird how having access to the entire VRAM at once instead of being able to adress it in chuncks of only 256 MB at a time via the PCI Express link is causing issues for this game and others like it on discreet GPUs.
Oh well, I got more important things to do than investigate the incompetence of the average closed-source game developer…
*shrugs*
the only other time since bar resize introduction i know of an incompatibility with a game
Weird it happened on another nixxes game the first time, which was horizon zero dawn, the original pc port, not the remake one
Im buying the game when its fixed

On the other hand apart from temporary performance issues the playstationpc s are beautiful games, while im disappointed in new day one gamepass games so much in comparison that if it wasnt for flight simulator and forza i would not renew the subscription again, its been too many dull games for too long from the service
Avowed atomfall and south of midnight play like old games, and boring ones….they come across as average indie games, rather than aaa titles, which they are not
Nixxes was very late in the development of Horizon ZD, maybe when they added the advanced upscalers.
They did a good job though, now they probably put too much material on their shoulders…
Is there a mod that removes Elly parts from this game and replaces it with Abby and her voice? I honestly really fcking hate the brat and she's why I never liked part 1.
Who the hell would want to play this extremist game ?
i will wait for patches, nobody should have to constantly mess in the bios for different games
do zoomers know how to access BIOS? careful with your boomer demands John
