Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth PC Low/Medium/High Comparison Trailer

Square Enix has released a new PC trailer for Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth that compares its Low, Medium and High graphics settings. This trailer should give you an idea of what you can expect from these different graphics presets. So, let’s take a look at it.

SE has updated some of the 3D models and textures for the PC version. To be more precise, the LoD for background models and MIP maps for background textures can both be freely configured in the options settings. With this background polygon density and texture density can be set higher than previously. Moreover, the devs have improved the lighting in some areas. Plus, there will be support for DLSS from the get-go.

To my surprise, Square Enix still hasn’t listed Denuvo on the game’s Steam store page. Final Fantasy 7 Remake did not also use it. So, perhaps the publisher will not use it in its sequel too? That’s my guess. Still, it makes you wonder why SE has used it in most of its less popular titles. Hell, even Final Fantasy 16 has it.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be using Unreal Engine 4. So, in theory, the game should run smoothly on a wide range of PC configurations. After all, it won’t be using any taxing graphical settings like Nanite, Lumen or Ray Tracing. Still, I’m curious to see whether it will have any traversal or shader compilation stutters.

It’s also worth noting that FF7 Rebirth is Steam-verified (as was FF7 Remake). So, it should run better than Final Fantasy 16 (which was not Steam-verified).

Square Enix will release Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC on January 23rd. You can also find the game’s PC system requirements here. So, be sure to check them out.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. There's like no difference between medium and high. Small difference between low and medium. Primarily just notice the 30fps cap on low. Lol. I dunno why they'd show off differences that aren't really there.

    1. Good thing for players without high end systems, IMHO (excluding the 30fps cap), if performance scales accordingly to the preset.

      1. im happy when the game requirements are low specially like Remasters of Tomb raiders or the new Red dead redemption 1 port on PC becoz than i can take out my old tank gtx 980m laptop and play on it comfortably on my bed xD, hate to sit on my desktop PC these days for gaming.

    2. The High is at 4k the Medium is at 1080p. That's the difference but its probably garbled from youtube compression.

    3. I think the biggest difference besides the resolution is the draw distance in the open world regions, especially the foliage draw distance.

  2. It’s also worth noting that FF7 Rebirth is Steam-verified (as was FF7 Remake). So, it should run better than Final Fantasy 16 (which was not Steam-verified).

    John, WTH is "Steam-verified"?

It's still called "Steam Deck verified", for now…

  3. This is hype can't wait to play it next week. Im trying to finish up my 3rd run of Witcher 3 before then.

  4. Do we really care about this massively overrated franchise though?

    1. It wasn't overrated at ff7's release, but then it was under squaresoft, now yeah it's overrated, the last great game was 12 and even it had problems.

Excluding 14 as mmo's are different than normal games.

    2. final fantasy hasnt been great since 10 and good since 12.

So yeah, all they can do is remake their best one and split it in parts for more money.

  5. I always put the shadow settings on high because I cannot tell the difference and put textures and lighting etc on ultra.

  6. Still, it makes you wonder why SE has used it in most of its less popular titles. Hell, even Final Fantasy 16 has it.

Is Final Fantasy XVI a less popular title now? I've seen more people play it than Final Fantasy 7 Remake (not Rebirth).

Even the Steam stats prove this, with Final Fantasy XVI having double the peak of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Honestly the only takeaway from that line in a topic like this, is that you claiming Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth are more popular than XVI, which is factually incorrect.

In fact Rebirth had a very mixed reception, due to it's boring open world and forced chores and minigames to progress the story.

Not to mention the whole Remake being slipt into a three part cash grab, rubbed people the wrong way.

    1. I think comparing VII Remake to XVI only based on Steam Stats doesnt really say a lot considering that VII Remake came out originally on a previous generation console, a modern console and also had epic store exclusivity before landing onto Steam.

      1. So did Final Fantasy XVI, don't know where you going.

Even Final Fantasy XV for that matter, which also has double the numbers of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

      2. So did Final Fantasy XVI, don't know where you going.

Even Final Fantasy XV for that matter, which also has double the numbers of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

          1. If Epic Store is your argument, you can add it's numbers to the Steam data and it will still be lower than both Final Fantasy XV and XVI.

The API is available to everyone, I'll even help you and give you the package ID for it, d0f6b4b32c2349918f1e38a6a13e3cd4

If I add FINAL FANTASY XVI numbers from Epic Store to Steam, the differences baloon even further.

          2. The argument isnt “Epic Store.” It’s that the much more fragmented release/rollout of the game along with the time that it released harmed its PC adoption compared to its contemporaries.

  7. I'm just sad and dissapointed that they once again are ignoring Ultra-wide monitor users. Square Enix it's 2025, it's kinda outrageous that you are so far behind basically every other dev out there on this front, even small indy studios etc.
