YouTube’s ‘Digital Dreams’ has shared a video, showcasing Red Dead Redemption running at 8K with 100FPS on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 with Reshade Ray Tracing. Digital Dreams also used the best graphics mods for RDR. So, let’s take a look at it.
Right now, this is the best visual showcase of RDR on PC. The mods the YouTuber used are Reality Redemption, RDR Upscaled Textures and Fast Launch. He also used Reshade Ray Tracing to further improve the graphics.
The end result, as you will see, is quite amazing. This heavily modded version of RDR runs with around 100FPS at 8K on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. Now I don’t know whether this is at Native 8K or whether Digital Dreams used NVIDIA DLSS.
Since this is an old game, Reshade can do wonders in it. For instance, it can add better AO and screen-space shadows to the grass. That’s one thing that annoyed me in the original PC version of RDR. Since the game lacks grass shadows and a more advanced AO solution, it can look flat in numerous areas. And that’s a shame because RTGI and RTAO could have greatly benefited the game.
Now although I was a bit disappointed by the PC release of RDR, the game can at least run smoothly on a wide range of PCs. And although the game is locked at 144FPS, you can use this mod to unlock its framerate. I did not also notice any stutters, so that’s another plus in my book. Still, it’s a shame Rockstar did not enhance the PC version with some modern-day graphical effects.
I mean, imagine what it would look like with Full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing. This is a PS3 game, so it was the perfect candidate for Path Tracing. Not only that but it would run better than a lot of path-traced games.
Oh, and since this is a DX12 title, you can kiss goodbye to RTX Remix. RTX Remix is not compatible with DX12. So, our only hope is for a modder to figure out a way to add Path Tracing. I don’t know, though, whether something like this is possible in RDR.

Personally I just set contrast 2 levels up and saturation to 4 and game already looks pretty good. And without any mod.
