Red Dead Redemption Remastered

Red Dead Redemption Remaster is coming to PC on October 29th and here are its PC Requirements

And it’s finally official. Rockstar has just announced that Red Dead Redemption Remaster will be officially coming to PC on October 29th. Moreover, the team has shared its official PC system requirements which you can find below.

Rockstar will collaborate with Double Even for this PC port. Thus, Red Dead Redemption on PC will have PC-specific enhancements including native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware, monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and full keyboard and mouse functionality.

The game will also support NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0. However, Rockstar has only listed NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation, and not AMD FSR 3.0 FG. Furthermore, the PC version will let you adjust various settings like draw distance, shadow quality, and more.

PC gamers will at least need Intel Core i5-4670 or AMD FX-9590 with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon R7 360. The game will also require 12GB of free disk space, and it will support the DX12 API.

Rockstar recommends using an Intel Core i5-8500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500X with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 2070 or AMD RX 5700 XT.

As we can see, RDR will not require a high-end PC. So, the good news is that it will run on a wide range of PC systems. The bad news is that it may feel a bit dated. At least for a game that’s coming out in 2024. We also don’t know how much Rockstar will charge for it. So, anything higher than $30 feels too much for this type of remaster. Since this is Rockstar we’re talking about, though, I won’t be surprised if it costs $50 or even $60. Oh, and the game will require a Rockstar account, even on Steam.

Enjoy the following PC trailer and stay tuned for more!

  1. A game from those years when MS and Sony paid R* dozens of millions for console exclusivity. When everyone thought PC gaming is full of pirates and not worth releasing on such platform. Some even blaming PC for poor sales. Those were the days!

Bet graphics improvements mods are already being worked on! John is gonna be busy! xD

  2. Holy cow of the ranch! Motherrespecting week of the year. R* you jugs. Ready your horses cowboys! Now we're talking.

    1. If it has proper keyboard and mouse controls would be the first time playing it without that absurdly strong autoaim the other versions have. That would be enough for me to open the wallet.

      1. By God's name! YES it will. I have waited for 14 freakin YEARS, never touched emulators, just to play this with mouse n keyboard. They better not mess it up to unleash the wrath that foresees.

        1. Oh my. You are in for a good time. Especially if you finished RDR 2. That's the order, story wise. The ambient music, the vistas, the philosophical dialogue, ooh man. It's not a 10 out of 10 title but it's a damn good experience.

          1. Personally, I think of every R* title as 11/10 game. I own RDR2 but never done any missions, did loafing around couple of days, loved it, and decided I should play the first one first. So I kept playing capcom titles. Now, I'll play RDR and then RDR2 to delve into all that graphical evolvement from ps3 era to ps4. That will satisfy me

          2. Even though I have a love/hate relationship with them..Rockstar is my favorite developer so I understand what your saying! Can't go wrong with Red Dead either way! I wanted to wait for the pc version like you but I couldn't. The game just "dragged" me back on my PS3.
After a while I didn't care much about the frame drops in towns or the low resolution. I was roaming for hours and hours trying to find new locations and just to listen to the ambiance. The atmosphere and the ambience music in this game is something special and unique. Also the side quests. For me they were better then the main story sometimes. The best memories I had in gaming were in RDR 1. I can't believe I'm excited to replay this on pc.

      1. There will never be a Bloodborne port for PC unless From Software decides they want to do it. Sony only holds the rights to the name but not any of the underlying technology and tools used to make it. Without the source code to the game engine and the custom toolsets it's impossible to port. If you could port without source code and the toolsets then Modders would have done it years ago

          1. Demon's Soul IP is owned by From Software and the remake was done by From Software. From what I've heard is From Software has no interest in doing a port for Sony and would rather work on their own new games. I suspect there is some tension there and From Software resents having to give up the rights to the Bloodborne IP and it likely also prevents them from making a Bloodborne 2. Sony wanted rights to the IP believing they would make several games from it but From Software didn't want to do more and I doubt any of Sony's studios have the chops to make a Bloodborne 2 since they would have to do it from the ground up with a different game engine and let's face it no one at Sony is a visionary like Hidetaka Miyazaki

Personally I'm not a big fan of Souls games, they just aren't my style but I don't deny they are very well made games and are unique. Everyone that makes a Souls-like runs a distant second to From Software

          2. "From what I've heard"
            " I suspect"

Yeah i never heard these rumours you are spreading, but there is always a first time for lies.

          3. I'm just going by what Hidetaka Miyazaki has said in a couple of interviews where he was asked about Bloodborne and doing a remake. He said Sony owns the IP and he has no interest in doing a remake since it isn't From's IP. Sony wanted to make it into a series of games but Hidetaka Miyazaki wasn't interested in making another and said he would rather work on his own IP

          4. That doesn’t mean Sony can’t make sequels or port the game to newer hardware dude.

        1. This sound so stupid i think you made it up. So, basically Sony is holding an abstract paper weight while the only people with the means to simply port the game is not interested on the job? Color me skeptical, citation needed.

  3. Full keyboard and mouse functionality
Adjustable settings for shadows, draw distance, and more

Releasing a game on PC, these^ are few of the highlighted "features"
    smh

    1. you laugh at this but the controls on console were so bad that the game was designed with snap lock on aiming.

      1. Ye, you could call it that but… i can also call it a lazy remaster 😀 Just barely good enough. Still, better than nothing i guess, plus the game will be finally out on the fking PC. My god. I cant wait for GTA 6 in 2035..

      2. thats not the one, they say it in a saloon, this was kept to mock the right, for example do you really think "homosexuals" was a thing back then?

    1. It is a remaster, the original version on ps3 was atrocious and laggy,on xbox360 was somewhat better, but res was 720p,25/30 fps, short draw distance(pop in fest),shadows were 250p,textures…blurry,but we enjoyed it back then, because well that's how it was.
A reboot is a new way of telling a "new"story under same brand,a remake is a new way to tell "same" story under same brand,a remaster is same game but higher fidelity.

  4. It will hold up. The physics, animations and effects are still top notch. But ooo no!!! The engine cannot be ported to pc!!! Remember? What a bunch of greedy liars! Greedy motherf*****s! I still can't believe I liked the game so much that I was playing this with 25-28-30 Fps at 640p on the PS3..

    1. Same here, and despite all of that I thought it was the best game of that generation. And I'm not even a rockstar fan.

      1. I was blown away as well. The game was/is so alive! There was a scene that I will always remember. I was chased down by some wolfs or coyotes and a flock of birds just passed by me and then a train passed by me and I was staggered about how so many things are happening in the same time! Now in 2024 this is nothing, it's normal stuff but back then there was nothing like it in open world games.

      2. In many aspects the original red dead redemption is better than RDR2. Sure overall RDR2 is better but the atmosphere of original RDR, music and everything is unmatched. It was true spaghetti western. Original RDR feels more western than RDR2.

      1. Compared to GTA 4 the world definitely feels more empty, I think there are a roughly equivalent number of side activities and stranger missions but one bit of desert pretty much looks like another bit of desert so you don't get the same sort of biome variety GTA 4 has.

        1. Weapons feel good to shoot and they sound great unlike rdr2
Other than this, I don’t like anything about rdr1

          1. Honestly I preferred a lot of the weapons in RDR2, the Carcano and bolt action rifle are way more satisfying than in RDR1.

      2. Well..in some places it's supposed to feel empty. Like deserts or forests. But overall for me at least at the time the game was very alive.

      3. Next are you going to say that it lacks airplanes and motorbikes?
It's not Cyberwoke, my lad, it is old western shït, ofc it will feel empty.

          1. Tech limitations, innit?
First one was quite limited in that aspect.
But then again, the emptiness feeling is something that I’m quite sure was made on purpose, since it was mostly bare lands back in that time.

          2. First you said it feels empty because it’s a desert then you said it’s a tech limit then you said it was done on purpose.
In my opinion it’s because they couldn’t make it not boring, simple as that.

          3. Maybe learn how to interpret texts, you dense mf.
Every game you don’t like is going to be boring.

          4. I can’t believe you said it was done on purpose only to contradict yourself by saying it was done because of tech limits in matter of hours
You sound like a rytarded baboon right now

  5. People laugh but I would play this over any new game by Ubisoft, BlizzardActivision/Microsoft, Naughty Dog, EA/Bioware, Insomniac, anyone involved with Sweet Baby Inc and Hit Detection LLC, a completely hijacked CDPR that pushed the lead on Witcher 3 out due to false accusations. "Triple A gaming" greatness now only exists in the past with the exception of Japan, South Korea, China and Eastern Europe with games like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Give me old graphics that I can DLDSR to 8k resolution over mental illness any day and people will probably AI upscale textures within a week.

    1. dont worry, i am certain they have removed the line in the saloon on how the jews control the american government.

          1. thats not the one, they say it in a saloon, this was kept to mock the right, for example do you really think "homosexuals" was a thing back then? Every game has characters like these nowadays.

        1. thats not the one, they say it in a saloon, this was kept to mock the right, for example do you really think “homosexuals” was a thing back then?

          1. You'll have to link me a video of the original then.
I have no idea what you mean by that, they didn't invent gays after 1912 lmao.

  6. This is still incomplete, R* removing multiplayer from these remasters and ports just so they don't compete with there microtransaction laden sequels is a joke.

    1. It really does suck. They should never remove anything from games, only improve. I've been harping on it forever, but any multiplayer game should have the ability to host our own servers. Period.

      1. That's what LAN support does, the original had it so the original RDR console release multiplayer will always be playable. Gta 4 only had LAN on the pc release so that version of multiplayer will always be playable as well.

        1. Not really, the GFWL version can't be purchased anymore and physical copies are basically impossible to activate in my recent experience.
It sucks that they removed it but I'd also be worried about the security risks associated with RDR1 if they did decide to include multiplayer.

    1. I don't mind the account since I already have one ….. It's that F**king launcher I hate

At least with Ubisoft Connect you get features like cross saves, achievements and rewards. All you get with the Rockstar launcher is …. well nothing

      1. Ubisoft connect is more annoying than Rockstar launcher, Ubisoft connect keeps on forgetting the password and in old games i have to reenter the password everytime after i boot my PC

        1. Actually it’s not forgetting your password, all games older than Unity make you sign in because they don’t have the proper net code. So they had to force a sign-in so cross saves will work

      2. I despise both of those launchers but yeah the Rockstar one really takes the cake. I look forward to a day when you only need to run the launcher in which you buy the game in. I think we are getting there, but it will take time.

      1. i am correct despite your downvoting, red dead redemption was made on a old version of the rage engine predating gta iv, so yeah this is not the same enigne anymore.

        1. 1. Predating? It was released after GTA 4.
          2. PS4 2023 version is exact same 2010 version + better graphics on exact same engine. PC gonna be simple PS4 port.

          1. 1.yes it used and older version of the rage engine, like how vampire masquerade bloodlines used a early version of source than hl2.
            2. its not the same engine as the ps3 version.

    2. If you're dumb enough to give money to this company, then you shouldn't complain, just accept the dildo and move on!

    1. I tried Yuzu, xenia, rpcs3.
In my experience Yuzu felt the best had great graphics, no weird glitches and ran smooth, followed by xbox with minor downgraded effects and slowdowns, rpcs3 was not optimized needed multiple fixes to get running.

  7. Back in 2010 they told me this is impossible because bla…bla….bla.
As always it turns out everything was a lie.

    1. I remember that. Most of it came from Sony fanboys saying the original game was built for the super high power PS3 and all it's cores and there was never ever going to be a way to make it run on computers….

      1. lol i still see comments like these from ponies on internet that PS3 was a super computer or something, most developers didn't know how to optimise for it when Xbox360 and low end PC was able to outperform PS3. Truth is PS3 wasn't all that powerful to begin and it was waste of time to develop for as lord Gaben stated once.

        1. That's not what he said, Gabe was specifically referring to the SPEs and any programming work done to utilize them (which you needed to do because the GPU was underpowered) would be wasted because it was an architecture unique to the PS3.
The decision for the overcomplicated design of the thing is obviously 100% on Sony and their hubris after the success of the PS2.

  8. Ofc Rockstar took the lazy route and not remasting this gem of a game. We could have played this game like 10 years ago, with the same graphics.
Why did we all wait and hope for a remaster? What a shame. Anyways, better late than never i guess. I can't wait to say the same thing about GTA 6 in 2030….

    1. Lol. I take it you've never played the game. All those boring chores were introduced in RDR2. The first one is arguably the best one in the series. Story wise and gameplay wise.

      1. The "boring chores" from RDR 2 added realism and immersion to the game. If you hate realism in games that's fine but some us really like that. Gameplay wise RDR 2 is superior. I mean come on. Tons of new mechanics added. Story is something subjective. I won't delve on that.

        1. RDR2 is overall a better game than RDR1 but RDR1 done some things better, the music and the atmosphere of the original RDR is unmatched. RDR1 feels more western than RDR2

        2. The main reason to play games is to get away from realism …… Reality is boring AF and I get enough realism from my job. If I'm going to do drudge work I at least want to get well paid for it.

        3. The "realism" in RDR2 is intolerable busywork with animations that feel as slow as molasses. Arthritic grandparents open drawers faster than Arthur.

          1. “Ruined gaming” just because I appreciate different things than you or others. You need to learn how to respect others tastes or opinions.

          2. no i dont, we are in this mess because we didnt gatekeep. “I like doing fake menial work in games” go outside and do work then.

  9. Gotta "love" how Rockstar made PC gamers wait another year so they'd double dip on the console version…for a game that's well over a decade old.

    1. >Ports game 4 years later
      >Sells millions of copies
      >Gamers think "wow, it sold so well, now they have no choice but treat PC gamers as priority"
      >Repeat…

  10. Is this going to be as boring as RDR2?

Not that it matters. I refuse to give Rockstar money after they banned me from GTA Online for buying a Megaladon Shark Card on Steam…

    1. Don't always believe the system requirements. Konami stated gtx 980 gpu for mgs 2 and 3 master collection. I have desktop with rtx 3050 that can offcourse max out mgs3 and mgs2 master collection but i tried mgs3 master collection on 2 of my old gaming laptops one with gtx 980m gpu and another had gtx 860m. Both were running the game flawlessly in 1080p the gtx 980m which is around 25% slower than gtx 980 desktop can even go above 1440p in mgs3 and still retained 60fps. I think these requirements are for 4k 144fps and maxing out the game using DLSS which offcourse requires minimum of RTX 20 series gpu.

  11. Those are higher requirements than RDR2 so I expect it should look even better. RDR2's biggest problem is all the textures are 512 and 1K and I suspect they'll be 2k and 4k in this port

    1. I take that back, the entire game is only 12 GB so the textures can't be all that big ……. A 2070 to play a game that only uses 12 GB of storage? I could fit the entire game in my VRAM

  12. The minimum system requeriments for this vaporware port should be at least a Geforce GT 8800, Core2Duo and Windows XP, to play it on high settings by 2010 standards. This is how you know they don't give 2 craps about optimization.

    1. Or maybe they are just using today's hardware, since no one has those you mentioned anymore.
But indeed, they are too overpowered for this "simple" game.

  13. This simply doesn't make any sense. The system requirements are significantly higher than those for RDR2!!! Just look at the CPU side. Where RDR2 required i5 2500K as the minimum CPU, RDR1 requires i5 4670 close to the recommended i7 4770K for RDR2!!!

  14. This simply doesn't make any sense. The system requirements are significantly higher than those for RDR2!!! Just look at the CPU side. Where RDR2 required i5 2500K as the minimum CPU, RDR1 requires i5 4670 close to the recommended i7 4770K for RDR2!!!

    2. It doesn't make any sense yes. In an ideal world the minimum requirements should be similar to those from GTA IV back in the day. A dual core cpu and a 256/512 mb gpu. It's the same engine as GTA IV and should be less taxing overall. Towns are smaller, less npc's overall, the destruction physics is gone. Right? I think the map is larger but still. As for high settings a quad core cpu and a 2gb gpu should be enough.

  15. RTX 2070 for this old a** game does not make sense at all. Besides Dx11 should have been used for this old a*5 game. Low latency mode, exclusive fullscreen etc many things work better in Dx11. Red dead redemption 2 recommends gtx 1060 and this old game recommends rtx 2070 lol

    1. I think the original RDR there was still DX9 games being made, so it should run with that API as well. As for GPU, i think a gtx 1060 or older can run this game, provided Rockstar knows what they are doing.

  16. Even Rockstar themselves are not calling this a remaster and you are hellbent on calling this time and again a remaster when it is just simply a port with added PC specific features.

  17. I'll gladly pirate this one, since this is what this shïtty company thinks about PC players.
If we're all pirates in their eyes, then let's give them some of what they've asked for…

    PIRACY!!!!!!

  18. Eh if it's just a straight remaster w somewhat better graphics and options it's not worth spending any money on imo Most desktop and power laptop users can prob get pretty dan good perf from the various emulators for years and years now. The ryu switch version worked fine for me looked well enough but I'm not an exclusively graphicshore player, more interesing and fun gameplay. RS just doing this for another empty holiday season new release wise, money grab and such.

  19. How the hell is it possible that the requirements are higher than Red Dead Redemption 2 ??
    Are you kidding me ??
