Capcom has just shared the official PC system requirements for Monster Hunter Wilds. According to the PC specs, PC gamers will either need a high-end CPU or Frame Generation in order to hit 60fps at 1080p/Medium Settings.
Before continuing, I should note that these PC requirements are terrible. I get the idea behind them. However, Capcom should stick to non-DLSS and non-FSR PC requirements. After all, if you recommend Frame Generation for 60fps at 1080p/Medium, you’ll get bashed by a lot of PC players.
Anyway, the minimum PC requirements list an Intel Core i5-10600 or Intel Core i3-12100F or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. With this PC, you’ll be able to play the game with 30fps at 1080p/Lowest Settings with AMD FSR Super Resolution. Yup, these PC specs are with AMD FSR enabled (the internal resolution is 720p).
The game will also require 140GB of free disk space, and Capcom recommends using an SSD. Monster Hunter Wilds will be using the RE Engine. And, as with most of Capcom’s latest PC releases, it will have the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Oh, and it will also support DirectStorage on PC.
The recommended PC requirements list an Intel Core i5-11600K or Intel Core i5-12400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 with 32GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or AMD Radeon RX 6700XT. With a PC system like that, you’ll be able to play with 60fps at 1080p/Medium Settings with AMD FSR/NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation.
The good news here is that a high-end CPU will most likely be able to offer 60fps without Frame Generation. As we’ve showcased, our AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D was able to push over 60fps in Dragon’s Dogma 2. At launch, there were some drops to mid-50s. However, in its latest version, you can enjoy it with 60fps.
So, I don’t get why Capcom released the following PC specs. The team could have easily listed a high-end CPU for 60fps without Frame Generation. And that’s what all devs should be doing. Instead, they decided to use mid-tier CPUs for 1080p/Medium/60fps. It makes no sense. And now, the PC specs will certainly cause controversy.
Before closing, it’s worth noting that Monster Hunter Wilds may run with 60fps only on PC. Similar to Dragon’s Dogma 2, this appears to be a CPU-heavy game. For both PS5 and Xbox Series X, Capcom is targeting two modes. The first is a 30fps mode, whereas the second is an Unlocked Framerate mode. Now as we’ve seen in Dragon’s Dogma 2, PS5 cannot come close to 60fps in the Unlocked Framerate Mode. And, since PS5 Pro will have the same CPU, it won’t be able to bruteforce its way to hit 60fps.
Capcom will release Monster Hunter Wilds on PC on February 28th.

Strange how this series works perfectly fine on a Playstation Portable, but for some reason Capcom this year gave up on optimizing and gave us Dragons Dogma 2.
those games were not open world.
If Capcom is going down the customer tyranny path, I'm done with them because that new trailer was definitely smoking agenda all over.
i wish all smoking agenda was like that blondie lol
they insert ONE bait character and idiots will eat it up and that's enough to invalidate all the woke DEI crap they shove in the game .. Capcom is the worst when it comes to pushing political agendas in the most safest way
The cover art will forever be tainted by that woke short hair troon.
i miss a game like crysis .why there is no such game anymore . a crazy game from the future with creepy requrements .
Yeah, I too miss Crysis 1's framerate being restricted by performance of a single CPU thread…
they can still make some crazy shet like crysis of our time
this mean the game run at 30fps lol
These requirements make no sense whatsoever. They say RTX 2070 Super or RTX 4060, but by my estimation, the RTX 4060 offers basically the same performance as an RTX 2080. And then you have the RX 6700 XT which is basically on par with the RTX 3070 in terms of rasterized performance. So why 3 different GPUs that aren't necessarily comparable, unless medium settings has ray tracing enabled as well.
That's crazy maybe graphics are starting to get out of hand now lol.
this is not about the graphics its about devs
It doesn't look anywhere near mindblowing to justify that kinda specs
probably has baked in rt features like dragons dogma or outlaws
Welcome to the future of gaming, where nothing can run without upscaling and fake frames.
It's just Japanese developers who have no idea how PC work and have no idea how to make a proper game engine.
Japan has the worst PC computer skills from all OECD countries according to a recent study, and most can't speak a word of English so they don't understand any Siggraph papers that contain valuable optimization methods.
If it wasn't for relying on Unreal Engine, and Epic releasing Japanese documentation, half the Japanese gaming companies would be dead by now.
The devs have already experience working on previous mh worlds pc version.
Have you not looked at the min requirements on most games released today? And even meeting those requirements doesnt guarantee 60 fps without DLSS/FrameGen. Devs today either dont know how to, or arent given the time to optimized their games, and fall back on upscaling for things to be even moderately playable. All so the companies can release games sooner to save money on costs and get money to the investors sooner.
What was meant to be a helpful crutch for people with dated hardware to be able to play more demanding games has become the industry standard for even high end systems to reach 60 FPS in many modern games. Regardless of the country they come from.
They taught English in school in Japan in the 1990's. Not sure if they still do though, but game development in Japan is pretty big so I guarantee you that anything they need has probably been translated into Japanese.
its so hard to run, that you better of paying a subscription while everything is rendered on the cloud.
"hey guys i heard you hate recommended upscalers, so we took that out and now we recommend frame generation!" The game looked great I may actually upgrade if its that bad of an experience on the recommended specs.
Except they probably can't. Even the 7800X3D is not quite twice as fast as the 3600 (it's close) in games, so this could mean that not even the best gaming CPU can get a steady 60fps at MEDIUM settings. Perhaps crapcom thought that recommending the best processor for medium settings 60fps will look terrible on their part so they decided to recommend frame generation instead. Either way they look terrible, but the latter would make them look far more incompetent IMO.
Whatever the case, they've become completely incapable of optimizing as proven with the release of Dragon's Dogma 2. To hell with them.
why does capcom use so much cpu power?
They did something terrible to the RE Engine since Dragons Dogma 2.
There is no way it runs that bad.
Dragon's Dogma 2 performance was already terrible. But yeah, this seems worse.
the engine is already BAD and outdated and not built for open world games.. who the hell built their own engine using Unity coding and try to make open world games with it .. they should stick to MT Framework and update it since that engine was way ahead of its time with MHW visuals
Well, with every pleb and intellectual invalid out there embracing fake frame cancer, what does anyone expect?
The stupidity of others, "can" and does, hurt you……………….. and me. I hate stupid people.
"TELL HIM WE WARNED HIM ABOUT FAKE FRAMES AND WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ACCEPT SUCH CANCER, TELL HIM WE SAW THIS COMING, TELL HIM THAT IF WE ACCEPT THIS DEVS WONT BOTHER OPTIMIZE AND DEMAND MORE AND MORE EXPENSIVE HARDWARE"
Mariko translates: "he says he doesnt like it when people trying to improve things"
The same as always
DLC "its just extra content, if you dont want, dont buy, its not a vital part for the game"
Microtransactions "its just cosmetics, if you dont want, dont buy"
DEI "its just AN OPTION to be LGBT, if you dont want, dont choose it"
This industry is ruined, i barelly play anything new these days
Japanese devs just can't do PC for some reason.
Console version ain't much better
The can't do PC as they aim for 30 to 60 fps because that is "OK" on console.
There are idiots here who defend frame gen and the added input lag.
Imagine buying a 144hz screen to have a more responsive experience, and then using frame gen to end up wit the response time of a drunk turtle. Ppl who defend frame gen are the dumbest ppl in gaming.
AMD and Nvidia are lucky there are so many stupid people in gaming and the media.
Hello. 72 fps framegened to 144 fps is great. The reason is simple maths: most people cannot tell the difference between 7 ms response time and 14 ms response time. In fact the limiting response time is more likely to be in their fingers or how fast the mouse / controller responds. Or if playing online, connection/server lag. The framepacing in many games is better with lossless scaling FG than it is playing native. As a bonus, the resolution and settings can be cranked too for even better image quality and no noticeable artifacts. BTW I am a full professor at a top-50-in-the-world university, so definitely not stupid. I'd happily blind test and I suspect 90+% of people would choose the framegen option vs. lower resolution and less good framepacing.
Total response time will be a helluva lot more than 14 ms ……. That's just the frame time delay not the total system delay time
R5 3600 and 1660 super to run at 720p, 30fps, on lowest settings.
This is officially the worst optimized game in history.
You weren't around when Crysis came out? That game required quad 8800GTX in SLI to run maxed out in some decent resolution.
This game is definitely breaking graphical barriers like crysis did
Not even close. Crysis was revolutionary in 2007. this doesn't even look that impressive in 2024.
It wasn't sarcasm?
What does "maxed out crysis settings" have to do with anything? We're talking about lowest 720p settings here, at 30fps for God's sake. Most people don't care if a game runs terrible when maxed out at 4k, as long as you can scale down settings so "affordable hardware" can run it, people don't want to buy a $50 dud they can't play.
But this game won't even do 720p @ 60fps on most people's hardware, it does 30fps. And it's an action game, who wants to play an action game at 30fps in 2024? Even people who played the PS5 preview version say it was laggy. Crysis actually ran well on lowest settings when it came out, it scaled very well. So yeah, this is worse than Crysis. Crysis also looked amazing, it looked better than any other game. But this looks middle of the road in terms of graphics.
Well unfortunately it seems devs will rely more and more on upscaling and frame generation instead of optimizing games.
As expected. The devs are using fake frames and fake resolution as clutches.
Monster Hunter Really Wilds
Get ready for DD2 performance. Crapcom strikes again!
Laughs in my pc never applies to the specs posted. hello Ultra settings.
