Red Dead Redemption Remastered

Red Dead Redemption Remastered appears on Steam’s database

Earlier today, Rockstar released an update for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5. But it looks like R* accidentally revealed some files related to Red Dead Redemption Remastered for PC. On top of that, we now know what the hidden game entry on Steam’s database is.

As we can see, Red Dead Redemption Remastered has been receiving numerous updates on Steam these past four months. Its latest update was today, when GTA5 was also updated with the BattlEye anti-cheat.

In August 2024, the PlayStation page for RDR Remastered leaked the upcoming PC version. So, we know for a fact that RDR Remastered is coming to PC. Thus, the question is “when” and not “if”.

My guess is that Red Dead Redemption Remastered will hit the PC by the end of 2024. Or at least that’s the safest bet. But hey, this is Rockstar we’re talking about. After all, I was expecting a PC announcement at Gamescom 2024. As we all know, though, that never came to fruition. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see this game on PC until 2025.

What’s really funny is that both RDR Remastered and GTA6 will sell like hotcakes on PC, despite the fact that Rockstar treats PC gamers as second-class citizens. It’s ironic really.

As I mentioned before, PC gamers can already play Red Dead Redemption Remastered using Nintendo Switch emulators. However, that version doesn’t look as good as the PS4 version, so it’s not the best way to play the game. And while shadPS4 can already run it, there are a lot of visual issues.

Before closing, you should not expect any PC-only features. I’d like to be proven wrong here. Rockstar has been adding PC-only features to pretty much all of its PC releases. But, right now, my expectations are as low as they can get.

Stay tuned for more!

    1. Nah, is probably a port from the PS4 version/Xbone version…barebones and functional but not embarrassing like that crap.

  1. Hopefully it runs better on PC than some of the other ports from that era. I played GTA IV for the first time earlier this year and it was such an awful experience dealing with the technical issues brought about by its age. Thankfully the Steam Deck made it a mostly stress free experience. Hopefully itll be the same for this because I was just getting in the mind to dump my switch copy to play on the emulator.

    1. I expect it to run better if it uses dx11 or vulkan api. Dx12 though is a different story. Every game uses it is a stutterfest or has traversal stutters with no way to fix

        1. Download steamsuperheater app which can download and install fixes automatically to correct location for fixing all old games broken on steam, it will install DXVK automatically, with DXVK gta iv runs like a dream

          1. Ty, ill check this out next time i do a little time traveling. maybe see how this works with morrowind or oblivion.

    2. yeah running in dx9 and locking to 30 fixed most of the problems for me especially the ending bug on the moddable 107 version but it's a trial and error thing. dxvk just made it worse tbh despite how some get an improvement out of it.

      1. you must be doing something wrong, i ran Gta IV USING dxvk on desktop PC with rtx 3050 and on my old gaming laptop with gtx 980m which is way weaker than gpus these days and even on gtx 980m the game runs amazing using DXVK. Just don't max out the sliders all the way to max, keep it at 70% and shadows at high. These settings are way higher than console versions. Console versions have all settings on medium and draw distance vehicle density etc are all at 20 or 30.

    3. GTA IV works great but not with the latest updates. You need to use patch 1.0.4. Compared to the latest patches it has lower quality shadows (but still great) way better lod/view distances and the performance is almost 100% perfect! If you still have problems drop view distance and details distance to 50%. Or use Vulkan api.

  2. Imagine getting excited over a 2005 game coming to PC. You losers should trade in your PC and buy a console. Rockstar sucks.

  3. Vaporware game from Ukraine: Compatible with Directx8 up to 11 graphic cards.
Vaporware from Rockstar: Better have an up to date graphics card.

    1. Some of the best games of all time are from the 90's and 2000's. I'm not saying RDR is one of them, but it's a good game that unfortunately ran like crap on its original platforms (there was no way to play it over 30 fps until the PS4 version came out last year, and only on PS5). I'd be thrilled if Bloodborne got an official port despite its age.

That said Rockstar is definitely scum, and I don't blame anyone for boycotting them. I'd like to play the game on PC but I'd never pay over $20, they'll probably charge $50 like PS4/Switch.

  5. eh wouldn't pay for it but prob grab it just for the better perf then the emus give it another replay. Hopefully they do the decent thing and include the dlc but it's rs I won't hold my breath.

  6. Rockstar seems to be releasing rdr before microsh*t and soyny releases their entire gears of war and uncharted trilogy on pc. It's a shame really.
