The team behind the shadPS4 has made a lot of progress in just a matter of weeks. On July 14th, this emulator could only boot Red Dead Redemption Remastered. And now, shadPS4 can go in-game, and run the game with 25fps on a high-end PC system.
Now while a lot will chuckle at that framerate, it’s actually tremendous progress. From being unable to go in-game to then running it with 25fps is, perhaps, one of the biggest progress we’ve seen in the emulation scene.
As you will see in the following video, emulation is still not perfect. For instance, there are a lot of graphical bugs and glitches. Let’s also not forget that this is an old-gen remaster. Yes, technically it’s a 2024 release. However, it’s not as demanding as, let’s say, Gran Turismo 7, God of War: Ragnarok or Bloodborne.
It’s also worth noting that shadPS4 can now display proper 3D graphics in Tomb Raider I-III Remastered. Performance is still bad though. Still, progress is progress. And no, Bloodborne has not received any improvements as of yet.
In my opinion, the shadPS4 should focus on making Bloodborne playable. I know this is a difficult task, but that’s exactly what the Yuzu team did with their Nintendo Switch emulator.
shadPS4 is not the only PlayStation 4 emulator that is in development. There are other six PS4 emulators, which are psOff, fpPS4, Spine, RPCSX, Kyty and GPCS4. From what I’ve seen, though, none of them can match shadPS4 as of yet.
If you want to try shadPS4, you can download it from this link.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Who gives a sh*t about ps4 emu. All games worth having (or Not) is allready on Pc – proper Pc release!
Minus Bloodborne tho!!
lol bloodborne is literally the reason like 90% of people are excited for the emulator. I know a few who want Killzone, Infamous and Uncharted Remasters.
Yep, that why I ironically mentioned Bloodborne 😁
I played it when I owned my last piece of Console trash PS4 Pro, and yeah it was great. But nowhere near the hype. People seems to belive its the best game ever made!
Not by a longshot I say!
lol im sure its not the goat of goats but its something that im definitely wanted to try but not enough to buy a whole ps4 for. its like the last from soft souls game I’ve yet to play but i guess its not as important to me to play as the ten of thousands of users who purchased a ps4 with only bloodborne on their accounts. hey but new emulators for people to experience the rest of the library will always be cool too.
I'm one of those people. I've played other exclusives, but the purchase decision was mainly based on Bloodborne. I have no interest in replaying the game as I've played it enough times. All I want is a PC port to make co-op alive again.
I forgot the exact number but someone or some entity did a calc of all the accounts that had a ps4 and only had bloodborne achievements and it was like thousands which is kinda insane to me to really purchase a console for just the single title. maybe they bought the console and disc and beat/returned it within the 30 days.
Bloodborne, Gravity Rush 1 and 2, Killzone Shadowfall, Uncharted Nathan Drake Trilogy, Infamous Second Son, Ratchet & Clank Remake, and for what it worth, The Order 1886
Driveclub aswell, cant wait to play it
ufc is my only reason to be excited for it, EA will never bring that to PC.
Anyone want to take that bet on Bloodborne by the end of the year?
Ok, I'll jump in, ingame beyond the main menu by the end of the year but not fully playable.
yeah thats what im thinking but i can’t help but think itll finally be available.
I will bet that SONY will release a bloodborne remaster after the emulator is able to run it
I partly believe the ps3 emulator’s development and progress with Persona 5 was part of the reason they didnt release royale on it ~~even though by the time royale came out sony had already ended ps3 support~~. The bloodborne remake has to be on their radar.
The vast, VAST majority of PS4 games being on PC as well, I'm not too interested or excited about PS4 emulation news…🤔
Even Uncharted got eventually ported.
At least, the PS3 and XBOX360 still had a few great exclusives which never got ported on any other system. After that, console gaming completely lost any value to me.
and Driveclub
The only PS4 game that needs emulation to be truly preserved.
We are still missing uncharted 1-3 though 😞
Shame that shadps4 is literally a mess, logs are useless, devs don't even ask for them from users cuz they need to fix games on their end using debugger, compiling a source of this code is pain in the a*s, terrible performance and broken amd gpus support.
I'm far more way interested in fpps4 and psOff which both are in rework rn, psOff already showed its performance potential since in the games that it already works is fast as f*ck, the system part is being completely reworked so no more access violations and stuff, also it's easier to get a project compiled and have proper logs than shadps4's
rdr1 is a poor example tbh there are emus running this already and the switch emu version is 45-60+ even on my weak old laptop, just jet fans and temps require liimiting it to 40 or so. I like emus though, can't say I know of any other ps4 exclusive I'd care too much about but good on them, we can't trust the devs pubs to be anything but scumsters.
its a good example to compare performance differences, also shadps4 is just poorly written, it has useless logs (they dont point any issue that game causes), hard to compile the project and get it even working, broken amd gpus support and that performance xd
Oh ok looks like you've actually tried to use it then so you'd know better. I still salute emu makers for their efforts regardless though, it's a nice gamers community thing to have when they get it humming like the switch ones and all the other ones that help preserve games and such.
waiting for it to run bloodborne at 60 fps and at 4k.
You'll need a 6090 Ti
"High end PC system"? That's not helpful. Would've been nice to know what the specs were.
Call me when gravity rush is playable
