  1. Just by reading the title, I knew Square Enix must be behind this game. What kind of naming conventions do they follow? What the heck is III HD-2D? Why are all their games named in the same style with the same kind of gameplay?

    1. hd 2D just means the game is 2d and high definition, a bit redundant but the world is not gonna end because of that.

      1. I know what they mean! I'm just saying is Square Enix one of the worst in naming games or what?
It's like COD Modern Warfare II would be named Call of Duty XIX Modern Warfare II Full HD-FPS Remake 3D Action!
Yes, the world is not gonna end because of that but what the heck is this?

        1. I've seen worse, japanese is know to make long titles because they trust their audience attention spam.

    2. Yes the name got me confused also, the first thing you remark is the landscapes remade in 3D.
But I guess 2D means the characters and monsters in 2D.

  2. Has Japan made a single game in the last 2 decades, that isn't some **** remake or soulslike ?

How many remakes do we need.

    Dragon Quest 30583058205
    Street Figher 32490204824
    Tekken 29582085420482
    Resident Evil 25408240284
    Mario 24098240824
    Sonic 2305830853

My God. Japan's gaming industry is the most uninsteresting and lame industry ever.

  4. What about crap like Yakuza, Metal Gear, Tenchu, Silent Hill and stuff like that?

Yeah, they did some legit stuff, however Nintendo is in the league of their own, NGL. Who still plays their games, aside from maybe Zelda I wonder…

    1. There's being cynical, and then there's your comment. Twenty years is a long time, in which several new games and franchises were made. Here are just a few:

      Capcom:
      Monster Hunter series
      Dragon's Dogma series
      Lost Planet series
      Dead Rising series
      Okami
      Godhand

      PlatinumGames:
      Bayonetta series
      Vanquish
      Wonderful 101
      Astral Chain

      Grasshopper:
      Killer 7
      No More Heroes series
      Shadows of the Damned
      Lollipop Chainsaw

      Sega:
      Yakuza series
      Valkyria Chronicles series

      Nintendo:
      Splatoon series
      Xenoblade Chronicles series
      ARMS

      Vanillaware:
      Odin Sphere
      Muramasa
      Dragon's Crown
      13 Sentinels
      Unicorn Overlord

      Tango:
      Evil Within series
      Ghostwire: Tokyo
      Hi-fi Rush

      Sony:
      Shadow of the Colossus
      The Last Guardian
      Gravity Rush series

      Square:
      Bravely Default series
The World Ends With You series
      Octopath Series

There are a crap-ton more franchises and one-off games by multiple Japanese companies, but I think you get the idea by now.

With that said, the whole industry has been horrid for about a decade now, east or west, with things really falling off a cliff since the PS5 generation. Remakes, remasters, live service, broken, buggy, and last but not least, POZZED games galore.

      1. 2 facts:

        1) The west is the big market for remakes
        2) There are actually more Soulslike made in the west than japan.

If there's one thing i hate is people hating on popularity for popularity sake. That just screams emo bs like the guy you just replied.

      2. That dude has some serious issues…

And yeah, older games feel a lot less "designed by committee" than most garbage passing as games these days.

In fact, thanks to the Steam Deck being a low-end PC in handheld form, I'm able to discover so many gems which have passed me by over the years.

Add emulation of classic console generations on top, and you're golden!

        1. Honestly i should report you for being such a marketing plant. How do i apply for the job and how much is worth per comment?

          1. Easy, you just become a competent Linux kernel developer unti Valve notices you and offers you a contract to do low-level kernel work for SteamOS! 😉

As for the marketing, that's not part of the contract.

That I'm doing for free in my own spare time… :-p

    2. Several games actually, you should be ashamed being this ignorant. Also, worth reminding r-tards like you that the west is the big market for remakes and souls style games, if it was just japan it woudn't be as big. I think there are more western based soulslike games than japanese…

    3. Surely western games like Yearly call of duty/ fifa/ madden/nba2k with no improvement and bs microtransactions; bunch of woke games like Last of Us2, Saints Row Remake, Suicide Squad, etc is the better industry.
