Ubisoft revealed yesterday the next part in its Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. And, from the looks of it, some rumors surfaced, suggesting that it would be an always-online title. However, that won’t be the case.

As Ubisoft officially stated, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not require a mandatory internet connection at all times. However, it will require an internet connection when installing it. Once you’ve installed and activated the game, though, you’ll be able to play it in offline mode.
In short, the game will behave similarly to all the other games you buy on Steam or Ubisoft Connect. Yes, this may be an additional step for those who acquire a physical copy. However, since most PC gamers will be buying a digital version of this game, this shouldn’t be much of an issue. Not only that, but some PC physical copies were previously released with a digital key inside (and without any disc at all… I’m looking at you NBA 2K).
Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place in 16th-century Japan during the Azuchi-Momoyama era. In this game, you will live the intertwined stories of Naoe and Yasuke. Against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, this duo will discover their common destiny as they usher in a new era for Japan.
The game promises to have spectacular castle towns, bustling ports, peaceful shrines, and pastoral landscapes. Ubisoft also claims that AC: Shadows will have unpredictable weather, changing seasons, and reactive environments.
A lot of players are disappointed by the fact that Yasuke is a black man. Do note though that the AC games are not historically accurate titles. Still, I totally understand the frustration. Personally, I’m more concerned about the gameplay and the overall storyline. If the game is good, then I won’t really mind. And I’d be saying the same thing if Assassin’s Creed Odyssey had you play as a Turkish man/woman in Ancient Greece. Actually, this concept sounds pretty cool to me.
And again, I get it. Ubisoft has deliberately used a real person like Yasuke to push its agenda. This is obvious to everyone. None of the previous AC games used a real person as a protagonist. However, these are games and not documentaries. So, let’s focus on the really important stuff (like gameplay, story, character development, combat, etc). And, since this is Ubisoft we are talking about, I have really low expectations. But hey, they could surprise us with a quality and polished title. So, let’s judge the game when we get our hands on it. And for God’s sake, do not pre-order it.
Ubisoft will release Assassin’s Creed Shadows on November 15th!

I normally don’t like forced inclusion on games and movies, but the black samurai is perfectly ok, someone similar actually existed in real life.

Any game that has denuvo can’t be played offline. You must relogin after 1 -2 weeks in order to play that game. So if you decided to go somewhere without Internet for a long time or internet’s down that particular time when you need to go online and check in, it’s not gonna happen. Yeah I’m sure an ID10T will say, “get better Internet” but I don’t believe that’s the point. But you will always have those people lurking around. Since all of Ubisoft games have DENUVO, since the inception of Denuvo.
