Cloud Imperium has released the Star Citizen Alpha 3.23 Update. According to the team, this new update adds support for the Vulkan API, something that may please a lot of gamers. Moreover, it adds support for both NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR Super Resolution.
Now the bad news here is that there is still no support for Frame Generation. Star Citizen, even with the Vulkan renderer, is still a CPU-heavy title. So, DLSS and FSR may not bring major performance improvements to a lot of players.
From a certain point of view, this is good as Cloud Imperium will have to keep working on further optimizations. Right now, even AMD’s latest high-end CPUs can’t run the game without dropping below 60fps. Surely CI won’t be releasing the game in this technical state… right?
So, we can assume that the devs will keep working on further optimizations. However, DLSS 3 FG or FSR 3.0 FG could make the game feel smooth on high-end CPUs, right here, right now. So, it’s kind of a bummer that they are not being supported as of yet.
Anyway, this patch also brings some new content to the game. Update 3.23 adds new animals, and the new Character Customizer. It also reworks EVA, MobiGlas and the Interaction Menu. Players will also find a new Starmap, and they’ll be able to hunt creatures. Not only that but it introduces a first pass at engineering gameplay features.
Finally, you can find below a trailer that shows off some of the key features of Alpha 3.23. So, make sure to watch it. You can also find here its full patch notes.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

i went from 20 fps to a whopping 24 fps !! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e67fe56bb5e4a321e1090ce26a24c33aa0c596bfec005dd4e2f1dafaf868d7bd.jpg StarScam and Squadron42 here i come with unlimted powaah !!
Worst scam ever. It as been already proven that running SC without network provide +80 fps. SQ42 being a solo game, any network issue are void by definition.
Have you tried using Loseless Scaleas a replacement for the luck of DLSS3 FG?

I may try this again during one of the free play weekends. I tried it a few years ago but I don’t think I was in the right head space for it. The multiplayer seemed interesting i guess.

Consoles are increasingly irrelevant.
Sony can not pay Square enough money to compensate for the massive losses that making a title a console exclusive causes.
A delayed PC release is not a solution, because by then the hype of the game has died down.
Square will need to do day-one PC releases and kick Playstation exclusivity to the curb.
People shouldn’t complain about the lack of features. It’s only been in development for 12 years. These things take time. Also Roberts needs more money. Last year only brought in 104 million dollars and the total revenue brought in so far is only 683 million dollars. You people need to buy more ships!

There was this stat a few years ago that showed most gamers devoted the large majority of their time to only 1 game, often playing the same game for decades. This was especially the case for online games.
There’s this argument from gamers who claim they want new gaming experiences, but the reality is that tons of gamers gravitate to COD, CS, DOTA2, Fortnite, LoL, Star Citizen, and basically dump all their money into 1 project and don’t touch other games.
If you look at Twitch, the most popular games are literally decades old now. All of them are online competitive games, most of them have microtransactions.
This sucks innovation out of the industry, and makes it incredibly difficult for companies to take risks.
That still doesn’t excuse the wealthiest company in the world from closing down Tango Gameworks, thus making sure we will never get a potential The Evil Within 3.
Hi-Fi Rush must have sold incredibly poorly. SteamDB shows an all time peak playerbase of the game of just 6,043 which is just horrendous, especially for a game 5 years in development.
Achievement statistics show that out of the few who bought the game, almost none actually finished it. Game Pass relies on retention rate, and this game has none of it.

Did microsoft lied when claiming this game was a success? It’s possibly, they have to lie so they don’t lose shares and market value.
One thing i found funny in the ending of Evil Within 2 is that everyone from the bad corporation had those collars that kill you if you don’t play ball with them (or someone hacks said collars), so it didn’t sit right with me as a conclusive ending, because there must be someone up the chain that doesn’t have those collars/microchips/whatever.
You forgot about Minecraft anf Roblox.
I think those 2 are from the next generation of players, zoomers and alpha.
Most people are bovine and don’t want to play new things and such, it’s normal. Sucks but such is life.
Do any of you play this game? Have any of you bought ships in it?
There are 1.7 millions individual backers (aka owner of at least a starter package hence ship) based on latest number provided end of 2022 So the answer is yes. If you mean buying ships in game with credits earned in games, absolutely, the vast majority ships are available in game with exception of very few aliens ships or extra large ships.

I think the console bribe money flow is all going to Rockstar as a last stand for their relevancy.
Tupperware space ships, eh?
Ugliest engine ever, everything has this plastic look.
That game released in 2017 was lit, tho.
Guess it’s called Square Dorm 101, or something.
SC devs should just make several games on a shared universe, instead of trying and failing to cram all of it together.
Vulkan API, DLSS and FSR does absolutely nothing to performance…. Turning them only get a slight 2-3fps more…
It does factually add up to 20% for some. Better have the choice. Vulkan implementation is accelerating and DLSS/FSR will adapt to new games as well. Everything but DirectX11 or 12 is better
