Larian Studios has released the highly anticipated sixth title update for its latest RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3. According to the team, Patch #6 has over 1000 tweaks, fixes, changes and improvements. The patch is now live on PC, so let’s take a closer look at it.
The developers have made improvements to locking lips with your chosen romantic partner. All characters now have unique kisses that reflect their personality. Plus, they improved some of the endgame cinematics to better reflect the connection between players and their partners.
Now since this update features A LOT of tweaks and fixes, I won’t be listing all of them. After all, we’re talking about over 1000 fixes and improvements. So, let’s at least take a look at its performance improvements.
Title Update #6 fixes a bug causing memory corruption. Moreover, it improves frame rate stability when playing with keyboard and mouse by improving the path-finding code. According to the devs, there are also some load time improvements. Plus, there are more sounds to the preload configurations before the Main Menu to improve loading times. Larian has also added a new option to the Launcher to reset your keybinds.
Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Those interested can find the full patch notes here. Brace yourselves though as the changelog is massive.
I should also note that Patch #6 requires 150GB of free disk space. Yeap, this is one of the biggest patches we’ve seen. So, make sure to have enough free disk space before downloading it.

you need a 150 gb just to install and play the game john…it doesn’t seem to add any more actual data. it changes things around as tweaks are often to do.
It may need 150GB of free space to unpack asset files and merge in changes before repacking everything.
what if you dont have free space? Should you delete the game and dowload it again?
It’s not abnormal for a game to take up more space during install due to temporary files as well, so I can’t say for certain that reinstalling the game would allow you to update if you don’t have the free space for the patch. Granted that might only be something like an extra 10GB or 20GB, which is a lot easier to deal with than an extra 150GB.
Is it possible for you to move something to an external drive temporarily to make some extra room?
Yes this, I had free up space just to install the last big update they did and the file size was about the same by the end of it.
As per Larian Studios:
“Patch 6 will be going live today on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and will require approximately 150GB of free space to install”.
The idiots who complain about developer practices will then complain about storage space when developer practices are good
its great they’re still able to work on and fix small things in the game without just solely focusing on the new game or additional content.
New game is in works, not every dev is needed in new project, just like not every dev, person is not needed in BG3. They already said there are no Expansions planned for BG3.
The new game is in a very early pre-pre-production.
