Need for Speed fans, here is something for you today. Modder ‘UncleBurrito’ has just released his RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Need for Speed: Underground 2 in Early Access.
For those who have been following us, we first reported on this mod back in May 2023. Since then, the modder was able to fix some of the issues that plagued it. For instance, the lighting looks better than before. Plus, the headlights no longer screw the path-tracing effects.
Since this is an Early Access Demo, it may have some visual bugs and glitches. My guess is that UncleBurrito will continue working on it. So, we can expect better textures and better lighting in future versions. Or at least that’s the most likely scenario.
You can download the mod from this link. Below you can also find a video that showcases it in action. So, be sure to watch it to get an idea of what you can expect from it.
From what we saw, this is one of the best RTX Remix Mods you can currently download. So make sure to get it.
This month, we’ve shared several RTX Remix Mods that are in the works. As such, you can take a look at screenshots and videos for Tomb Raider 2, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Manhunt, and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Earlier today, we also shared some screenshots from Garfield Kart RTX Remix.
Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Modders have released early demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Tomb Raider, Max Payne and Call of Duty 4. Do note that the COD4 Mod is a “proof of concept” demo, and it does not look that great. On the other hand, the RTX Remix Mod for Max Payne looks amazing (at least in my opinion). Let’s also not forget the RTX Remix for COD: WoW. And then we have these Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2, Quake, Half-Life and Serious Sam.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Still got a copy of the original in a box somewhere. Will definitely be trying this out!
You can just grab an archive with all the patches online instead of trying to install it off of original disks.
looks somehow ugly and off, it still takes tons of work to use this instead of vanilla 4k game. Frankly is much better the fan remake in unreal engine 4, that one looks impressive, but is on development since years and nothing ready even for early access…
… i am looking for every rtx remix games released for now, and seems to be a pattern of mediocrity where all of those remastering in path just does not look right in the game original artistic direction. Most of all looks just fuzzy or cheap clones of the real deal. Maybe in future will be better tho, but for now is just bad in my own opinion
It will end up looking much better with only some minor tweaks, I’ll take it any day even if it isn’t quite like a native implementation in a modern game, but this RTX Remix thing is just starting.
Sweet I love how these keep rolling out for the older games
of course like your website but you have to check the spelling on several of your posts A number of them are rife with spelling issues and I in finding it very troublesome to inform the reality on the other hand I will certainly come back again
Hard to beleive it’s the same game. Looks fantastic.
It wasn’t so long ago that the angry few were trying to argue that you can’t see the difference with RTX ON/OFF. The same people cheered the death of G-Sync and DLSS. And not to be left out we had the same angry few cry over DLSS Frame Generation.
WoW!
Somebody essentially lend a hand to make significantly articles Id state That is the very first time I frequented your website page and up to now I surprised with the research you made to make this actual submit amazing Wonderful task
Right now it’s still a mixed bag. A true gamer will notice all the differences, compared to a braindead weeb from IGN who even uses the PS2 version for comparison 😅 like wtf???
A ton of reflections are missing and also scenery lights. One of the strong points of Underground games. Rain, car, reflections. And what a great job they did back then! Underground 1 reflections are still amazing!
The part about the reflections and lighting is hard to achieve.
It’s somethings about the textures I remember, which either tend to looks all shiny and chrome (even stone) or dull an void of reflections and wrong lighting.
The games’ assets from 20 years ago where not made in mind for technologies as RTGI.
The effort is appreciated but it looks really off. It’s like the cars are 3D models coming from hhe ps3 mixed with a world that they don’t belong in.
Holy Smokes. With nvidia you already get the future in 5 – 7 years, today!
No need to wait for remasters anymore if that rtx remix is around.
Go donate that modder 5 bucks and play the remaster of any game remixed.
As commented before, one can rightfully be angry about both amd and nvidia be a fukking stackelberg duopoly who both milk their customers with outrageous prices (illegal price and products agreements and manipulation) and renaming all their products.
Objectively Nvidia is still simply superior in all aspects and the smarter choice to buy (besides the vram-gimping, if one can’t a afford a rtx 4090/4080/4070 super) and in fact even cheaper. That’s why they are the leaders of this stackelberg duopoly and have globally 90 % market share or so.

Very smart!
The people who still own this game on disc, can enjoy the ingame music.
In this 1984-communism-New World Order the global ruling elite creates through Agenda 2030 right now, “You will own nothings is their slogan.
Controlled and centralized online distribution platforms or even worse, full communism through shat as game subscription/streaming.
I image in a future like that, a game like nfs 2 underground would get a mandatory online update in 10 years since release, and lose half the soundtrack.

(I probably don’t need to explain to knowledgeable people, that the mainstream shiet told about Karl Marx, who he was etc. is all made up bullshiet. He was part of whoever run the world at that time (the global ruling elite) and had big financial financiers.)
Schwab, who plays the role of the front man of the WEF, even had a statue of Lenin in one of his interview.
It’s obvious that majority of history is connected, by whoever runs the globe for millennia.
