Dark Messiah of Might and Magic RTX Remix Path Tracing-3

New RTX Remix Path Tracing Screenshots for Dark Messiah of Might and Magic

In August 2023, we informed you about an RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. And today, we have some new screenshots to share from it.

Created by wiltOS Technologies, this mod aims to implement full Ray Tracing/Path Tracing effects to this classic title. And, as with most of the RTX Remix Mods we’ve shared these past few days, the following screenshots are not based on the upcoming Open Beta build of RTX Remix. However, the modding team aims to properly use those tools once they come out. As such, this RTX Remix will keep getting better and better. So yeah, make sure to keep that in mind.

Now what’s interesting here is that in order to make Dark Messiah of Might and Magic compatible with RTX Remix, wiltOS Technologies had to make it work with the DX7 API. The modding team claimed that this API downgrade had a visual impact on the game’s reflections. However, thanks to RTX Remix, they have managed to add path-traced reflections which are better in every way than the DX9 shader-based reflections.

There is currently no ETA on when this RTX Remix Mod will come out. However, the modding team already got access to the Open Beta build of RTX Remix, and it has experimented with it. So, hopefully, we’ll see more screenshots and videos in the coming weeks.

Speaking of Path Tracing Mods for older titles, you might also want to check out the following ones. Earlier this month, we shared some incredible RTX Remix screenshots for the first Tomb Raider game and GTA Vice City. Modders have also released early demos for their Path Tracing Mods for Max Payne and Call of Duty 4. And then we have these Path Tracing Mods for Doom 2QuakeHalf-Life and Serious Sam.

Have fun and stay tuned for more!

  1. this is a fantastic games from arkane ! a real shame that they waste time and resources on that Redfall rubbish and don’t make a remaster of this masterpiece !

    1. its not a masterpiece at all its a short linear action fest with come cool idea like making enemies slip when you freeze the floor with your freeze spell but enemies are damage sponges so it doesnt feel that well and no matter what you upgrade you will always be a rogue, you cant make a strength build for example and take out the orcs, you must use dirty tricks like the freezing spell being most effective for making enemies slip and fall of roofs than being a powerful mage.

      1. It’s not short at all, a playthrough of DMOMM takes like 10+ hours. That’s long for a linear action game.

“no matter what you upgrade you will always be a rogue”
Nah, skill issue. You can definitely play a pure combat build fighting everyone openly, but you have to be good at the combat mechanics at the highest difficulty. If you don’t want to invest the time to get good you can always play Easy mode, no shame in that.

And a mage playthrough mostly involves telekinesis. It’s the first spell you get and it’s the most useful in combat for the whole game.

  2. All those old game look bad, and off.
For this RTX crap too look good, those games need new assets, properly done in mind with RTX Bloatware.

  3. Remove the unfitting volumetric fog. Add smoothness to the textures, they are all too rough. Are the reflections not functional yet? Ultimately they will need to work and the materials will need to be physically plausible or the whole project is pointless. So just use believable materials to begin with, even if the renderer isn’t ready for it.
