A few days ago, CD Projekt RED released Update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 and to the surprise of no one, the media immediately started overhyping it. A lot of the media calls it “one of the greatest comebacks” and I’m left puzzled. How on Earth is this a comeback? And if this is the greatest comeback, what can we say about No Man’s Sky or Final Fantasy XIV? That they are the “super duper D comebacks“?
For starters, let’s see what Update 2.0 brings to the table. According to CDPR, Patch 2.0 revamps the police system and brings major Combat AI overhauls. Furthermore, it adds over 100 new items – weapons, cyberware & fashion, new story quests and gigs, as well as endless dynamic events & missions. CDPR has also introduced vehicle combat and mounted weaponry, redesigned cyberware and perks. The team has also increased the level cap, and added all-new relic skill tree and abilities.
So, we can all agree that Cyberpunk 2077 now has more content than before. It also has a functional police system (which should have been there from the get-go). Vehicle combat and mounted weaponry are also a welcome addition. All in all, this is a more polished version of CP2077 with more content. But is it an incredible comeback?
Let’s start with the obvious. Cyberpunk 2077 is still NOWHERE CLOSE to what CD Projekt RED promised in 2018. Back then, CDPR described the game as an “open world, narrative-driven role-playing game set in the universe of the classic pen & paper RPG system, Cyberpunk 2020” that would offer “an interactive dialogue system that gives them greater narrative agency.” These two things combined suggested that your choices would have a major impact on the story, similar to what we got in The Witcher 3. The main story remains the same and your choices have minimal impact on it. The main missions also remain the same, and most of them do not provide alternative ways to complete them. This was one of the things that impressed everyone in the E3 2018 Demo. So, the game is still nowhere close to its initial pitch.
Now I’m not downplaying CD Projekt RED here. The team has done an excellent job. With the addition of Path Tracing, it was able to surpass the graphics of the Gamescom 2018 Demo. And yes, the game is in a way better state than its original version.
HOWEVER, this overhaul is nowhere close to what Hello Games did with No Man’s Sky. It’s also nowhere close to what Square Enix did with Final Fantasy XIV. FF 14: A Realm Reborn is a completely different game than its original version. On the other hand, Cyberpunk 2077 plays exactly the same as before.
Realistically, if I had to compare Cyberpunk 2077 Version 2.0 with another game, that’d be Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Battlefield 4 or Fallout 76. These games launched with major issues but over time, their teams were able to significantly improve them. And that’s it. Hell, Fallout 76 may be a bigger comeback than CP2077 as Bethesda implemented human NPCs, something that completely changed the way you play the game.
I get it that Cyberpunk 2077 is the “next big thing for clicks“. I also know that everyone loves a comeback story. But let’s be realistic here. There is nothing wrong with calling Cyberpunk 2077 what it really is; a more polished and less buggy version with some additional content. It’s a solid game. But the “greatest comeback in video games“? Well… as the boss of one of our favorite fighting games says… don’t make me laugh.

CD Projekt Red died when they downgraded the Witcher 3. Cyberpunk is a massive zombie at this point.
to me they did with witcher 2.
I remember the cringe poles gifting Obama Witcher 2, lol. But real talk, devs go where the money is, CDP tried to port the first Witcher to consoles as well, but didn’t have the funds. This is silly talk.
I find it hilarious how some people are still Triggered by anything Obama, the highest rated President in the 21st Century so far (And likely for some time to come judging from what is currently out there)
that guy was given an award for being elected as black, they wrote praise articles for him and built him status for doing nothing. Which is why he silenced the most journalists who opposed him, removed the mundt modernization act that prevented state propaganda in the media and when he did all the wokeness started appearing in the media because thats what wokeness is, obama era state woke propaganda. This is why conservative say he destroyed race relations in this country. Of course the liberal media will say he is the best president, how about you ask the other half of the country or the people he bombed?
edit, amazed 7 r3tards downvoted facts. I guess some people will never be able to accept the truth.
“This is why conservative say he destroyed race relations in this country.”
Conservatives are wrong here, there was never good race relations in US, Obama just laid bare and gone mask off, but it’s better to break a delusion than remain delusional.
no one said they were great, but they were better than what we got now.
Good enough to be “destroyed”. It was destroyed at the end of slavery or stretching a bit to jim crow style apartheid. But the foundations where never that good in the first place, Whites are too lenient to their (former)slaves.
The Democrats are the party of supremacist slavery, the Civil War, the assassination of President Lincoln*, Segregation, the KKK, Manifest Destiny, Indian Removal, the Trail of Tears, re-segregation, American Internment, racial division, hatred, dependence, and exploitation, Critical Race Theory, and Islamic anti-Semitism.
The Republican Party was created to stop slavery.
There’s an easy way to distinguish between the two: One party loves and defends “all men are created equal.” The other one really, really hates that.
Did i step in facebook?
“highest rated President in the 21st Century so far”
According to who?
Mentally ill people. People who do not know what a woman is.
I was curious because i can’t for the life of me figure out why the “highest rated Pres” coudn’t ellect a sucessor…
He put men in women’s restrooms. What a hero.
will never forget the witcher 3 80% graphics downgrade from e3 2013 & 2014, but they still said they haven’t downgraded bunch a liars, same they lied all things about cyberpunk, but idiot people still buying there games, glad i didn’t buy none of them
Stupiest coment ever. Check W3 now. Looks amazing.
Completely missed the point.
Pointless
You declare them dead after 50m sales of w3. And you got upvotes. Loosers
lmfao
Thank you for saying it!
The same way that No Man’s Sky still up to this date hasen’t delivered everything that they promised would be there or you would be able to do before it’s launch neither has Cyberpunk 2077, far from it.
Witcher 1 still the best CDPR game. Reason: Design wasn’t limited by consoles.
Witcher 2*
limited by consoles, awful lighting, small maps and towns due to consoles, short campaign, lack of content, horrible sidequests, stupid qte combat
More branching paths than the original game.
so? Still short with tiny maps.
Same with the first one. Then they made Witcher 3 open world and you still b!tching about it.
i am not, you are delusinal.
Sorry for my delusin. But for real i don’t think Witcher 2 needed Big levels, it’s not a Deus Ex game.
My bro has a vendetta against consoles and uses it as the one and only parameter for a game’s quality. The rare type of stupid you can only find on these forums
the reason why witcher 2 has corridor like maps even when you are in swamps or mountains is precisely because of the 256mb ram of the x360 you moron. Environments in that game felt so fake and the downscaled lighting to run on the x360, yes consoles hurt game development specially x360 and ps3. The whole reason every game back then had something like an explosion that closed the doorway you came from was the limited memory and unreal engine 3 did not have dynamic lighting and shadows due to how weak consoles were.
So yes.
No. Fawk no.
Witcher 1 was just an Neverwinter nights mod with a facelift. Is a PC friendly UI all it takes?
What a delusional dogshit take
^^^ this. And they were just Men and Women back then.
Worst combat system ever in a game ….. The game engine was built for turn based combat and CDPR tried (and largely failed) to make it real time combat. Even they knew it was garbage which is why they went to all the trouble to create the Red Engine from scratch which was no small accomplishment from a company their size at that time.
Actually Witcher 2 and Witcher 3 were developed for PC and then ported over to consoles and I suspect the same was true for CP 2077 which is why it ran so poorly on the PS4
And the cards. Do not forget about the cards.
As you said it yourself in the article, the media calls it “One of the greatest…” and in your title you wrongly criticize the media for calling “the greatest comeback” Well that’s not great journalism at all, but it’s one of the greatest clickbait you had in this site for sure
Yeah I noticed that too …… There is a big difference between “one of the greatest” and “the greatest”
Saying it is one of the greatest comebacks is accurate ….. Saying it is the greatest comeback is not accurate nor is falsely claiming that the media said it was the greatest
Yeah I noticed that too …… There is a big difference between “one of the greatest” and “the greatest”

“to the surprise of no one, the media immediately started overhyping it”
So true. Digital Foundry did a video showcasing it that came across as being little more than a one-hour advertorial for Nvidia.
Maybe as nVidia is the Only one pushing tech you IDIOT!
Guess you have an POS trash AMD card right. LOSER!
DF Allways is the best and only one worth watching!
A fanboy calling the others loosers. Oooook!
For speaking the truth R**ard!
nVidia is the only one, simple as that!
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9e27a8dfe2da1f6a11ea1773a51e73ef1b8c748bfab17351836459fd88aa9ddd.gif
LOL buddy, Well played 😉
Says the guy who was butt hurt by a Digital Foundry video talking about Nvidia’s latest technological breakthroughs
AMD better get with it because the hacked and patched system of rasterization will soon go the way of the dodo bird and be replaced by AI techniques that will look better and perform better
why the downvotes? cdprojekt red did not create rtx nvidia did.
Best thing happen. But the retarded AMD idiots dont lile progress. They want to – still – have Pong quality graphics!
Like it or not, Nvidia developed realtime raytracing/pathtracing GPUs first and is the only one improving the technology.
Yeah because they do amazing sh*t with gaming tech. You can appreciate tech improvements and still don’t like their business garbage moves if you aren’t a r3tarded fanboi who can’t observe events without dragging decades of bitterness and baggage.
who cares about tech i wanted a rpg this is what they promised. Instead its an open world gta clone with looter shooter mechanics.
Yeah well, they guy is an idiot!
Indeed. Gamers Nexus’s video on the same topic was far less biased and more critical.
Indeed. Steve’s been producing some great content lately. Not least of which the videos highlighting the shenanigans of Linus Tech Tips.
This is not relevant coming from a guy overhyping trash asset-flip UE5 projects without saying a single word about what’s wrong with this engine, this is actually very hypocritical, DSOG is also a big disguised UE ad and few people are talking about this, pointing out DF issues is easier i guess. At least Digital Foundry still has a purpose, just compare a performance analysis done by John with one from DF, it’s like comparing a poem written by a 14 years old teenager with a book written by Tolkien
That is what Digital Foundry does. They serve no purpose.
polished turd
They know that marketing and hyperbole actually increase sales so they over promise and the various publications who are dependent on ad buys etc are just in on it. I mean it’s a fun game imo but the hype and expectations were not realistic, like saying there’s going to be 1000 maps all with handcrafted lore and such, who but a child would believe that and then cry about it when it doesn’t come about?
CP77’s largest real problem was wrong choices as to what is good for the actual gaming. We don’t need Ms Reeves or Audrina Elba, they add nothing but trannywood to it, transhumanist game though. Pay more/better devs and support with all that money those transformers don’t need. I feel that the NPCs are WAY overdone at the cost of less of them and general perf cost, do I care that randos walking around are RDR2 level? Nope. And Megacity but empty freeways? Huh? Story was too short, no water based missions, no flying cars, no flying transhumans, etc etc etc
its at a state where it should have been launched as no more no less
“The main story remains the same and your choices have minimal impact on it. The main missions also remain the same, and most of them do not provide alternative ways to complete them.”
yeah same with starfield and fallout 4, you can polish a turd but its still a turd, i swear people have lowered their standards to a point if a game isnt broken on launch, it means its automatically good. New vegas was broken on launch but when fixed it became a good game. The standards are so low that if you game isnt broken on launch and does not look like it came 15 year ago, then it must get an 8 because 8 is the new average. Laughable industry, but i blame the consumer more, jay two centz is right we have been groomed to pay tremendous amount of money for trash products.
I blame consumers like you who where hyping Starfield with fake news.
CP has better writing and character acting than all BGS games put together so the story being linear doesn’t matter nearly as much when it’s actually enjoyable to experience. Taking to bug eyed degenerates in Starfield with their AI level dialogue and FO3 level animations is light years behind CP in the narrative department, even if you totally disregard the actual story that’s being told
“|s that true?”
I legit dont know, cp uses fck too much to be serious and mature but it comes off as just everyone being a street thug, which they are. Id say the lore in morrowind is better. I also read bgs as baldurs gate for some reason and i will agree from the little i have seen from 1 and 3, never finished 1 no reason to play 2 or 3. the writing in those games is trying to be funny 24/7, they dont take it seriously, cp takes it so seriously that you live in a sense of existential dread and suicidal thoughts 24/7.
Summary of CP2077: Rewatch Fight Club, but in your mind replace Brad Pitt with Keanu Reeves – you’ll get the same experience.
It’s a Soyny tier, largely linear interactive movie with mostly fake choices.
Maybe they’ll finally give us real player reactivity in the expansion’s story content? Cuz the vanilla campaign has next to F all.
You might not want to write CP. Some people could take it for something else.
I do not get the constant praise of Baldur’s Gate 3. Maybe you have to be mentally ill to enjoy it.
well its an rpg, unlike starfield you can kill almost anyone, but the writing is dnd nerd cringe and wokeness, no thank you.
Love your honest, no-nonsense take
Mainstream Media hypes games pretty regularly. Those of us that have been around for a while know to be cautious with what we read on sites like that if we visit them at all.
CDPR over promised what CP 2077 would be and Mainstream Media hyped it to the point that the game ended up with 8 million pre-orders.
For PC gamers what was delivered at release wasn’t close to what CDPR promised and it had issues. For console gamers the game was a train wreck. It was so bad that Sony pulled the game from the PS Store until CDPR at least fixed it partly.
The “mainstream” “media” also expresses misgivings and ostensibly “random” ponderings, regularly.
This is at least the third time in those 3 years I hear about the game “being fixed, this time for real”.
TRUST ME BRO, BRO TRUST ME THE GAME IS GOOD BRO, YOU MISSING OUT.
The devs are awesome bro, you don’t know what you’re missing bro, best game from the last 20 year after the update bro.
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d9916620417f913f2ce772d601b83a34d031d76b64553799628fa7a2c26bba47.png
that idiot above was whinning that people correctly pointed out its not rpg and they lied and now he says “its a good game” where do all those r3tards come from?
Consoles, obviously. When the Peasant System 5 was hard to get on stores, lots of peasants decided to buy a pre-built PC so could play the games they love, like Fifa and Overwatch. These morons don’t know what a good game is like.
The hype wheel keeps on turning.
“I also know that everyone loves a comeback story”
Kim Kardashian?
Jokes aside, it’s cool that you’re keeping it level headed.
and will cash in on that with my usual negative take.
Gotta feed this comment section.
Yeah this article almost makes me not want to come back to this site. Horrible.
Nothing of value is going to be lost.
Bye!
why? Too much truth for you? You would rather get excited for the next product?
Typical media and news industry nowdays. Would write and publish anything for clicks and bucks.
Isn’t that why you do your job? For the bucks ……
They added level scaling to the game, which turns this game into an even bigger trashpile.
Not really …. What it actually does is open up the world and now you can go anywhere without getting one shot killed by a NPC 20 levels above you …..
Yes it brings low level NPCs up to your level but it all brings down high level NPCs to your level so now you can explore areas of the game a lot earlier than you used to be able to.
I don’t know why everyone is so scared of level scaling, if it’s too much for you then just drop difficulty level down a notch, problem solved
enemies take more hits, they are not bulletsponges, making games like oblivion is bad you moron not goodd.
So every encounter is the same and locations have nothing special in them, great!
What’s the point of having a leveling system then?
at least in the past you could be over leveled and not experience bulletsponges, now its part of the game.
It’s not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination and its a hell of allot better now than at launch especially with mods installed. Yes CD Projekt are liars as are all corporations, they lie and obfuscate constantly and you should be mad at that and not necessarily the game. Lesson learned never buy games at release wait a year for patches mods and expansions. If you never played cyber punk yet now is as good a time as any to start.
Good point …. That’s why I’m not playing CP 2.0 until it gets a couple of patches …. I did test it out and was able to get it benchmarking at 68 FPS with Path Tracing, Ray Reconstruction and DLSS Balanced and I’m sure I can get it to do better by dropping a couple of settings down a notch from max. I just have to figure out again which ones can be dropped with the least amount of change in graphic fidelity (Presets are for people too stupid or lazy to optimize a game to their specific system)
I still regret playing this woke bullshït. Cringe is a very nice compliment to the story they shove on this one. It’s disgusting to say the least. Unless the one playing it is a 12yo, then maybe it’s awesome, given our current world situation.
It may not be the most amazing game ever made, but it is a good game. Better with the new update.
its not a good game.
steam reviews are just “the game works and its not a broken port or abandoned early access game.”
so you admit steam reviews are useless and then you pretend not to get it.
All we wanted is what they advertised.
We know their diversity hire can’t deliver, hence, the game will sück forever!
It’s not that unreasonable to call Cyberpunk one of the greatest comebacks.
I can’t think of many games where a game made such a comeback. From a game riddled with issues to one that came back through non-stop patches and improvements.
Sure, Final Fantasy XIV is another example of a comeback, but FFXIV was just a mediocre game, it’s wasn’t very bugged. They redid the whole game until it was good. It’s not really comparable to cyberpunk.
Cyberpunk’s issues were about quality control and bugs. FFXIV’s issues were purely gameplay related.
Who gives a SH*T what they said in marketing 3 years ago, it’s a good game and it has been good since launch. It’s not amazing like Witcher 3 but it’s hell of a lot more competent in many areas unlike lazy dated bs like Starfield.
I swear that fckers that are still salty about “cDPr liEd” 3 years later are among the most annoying groups of gamers online, right up there with console warriors or vendor fanboys.
If you don’t like the game it’s fine, but stfu about marketing garbage from 4+ years ago.
You got a good point there.
I don’t give a sh*t about marketing and take lofty promises and hype with a spoon of salt.
I take games for what they are when released, and in an ongoing manner when updated later.
Still, this one is merely good, nothing exceptional but the graphics.
For a comment this stüpid, one might imagine the face of person behind it.
Devs: Here we have this game called Mario
You: Buying!
Devs: *delivers Fifa*
You: Well, the game was about football in the begining, but now, 6 years later, it’s just like Mario, you guys are the worst of the industry.
*cries a lot*
HAHAHAHAHA it has never been good it always sucked you are a fanboy. Starfield is exactly like this wtf you talking about? I saw someone whose channel was doing outpost clearing in cyberpunk and he does the same thing for starfield now, same game.
Cyberfraud 2076: Now with slightly less bugs
Anytime I see comparisons like this, I wonder if the writer has ever actually played any of the games talked about:
1. No Man’s Sky hasn’t fundamentally changed: the grinding has had its variety increased, but if you felt like the grinding was pointless back on release, it will still feel just as pointless now, and none of the new plot elements are interesting enough to warrant playing for.
2. Fallout 76 has had the worst of its bugs ironed out, but adding in NPCs has actually made the game *worse,* because they’re poorly written and introduce plot holes. For the most part, it’s only worth playing to the end of the original story, at which point all you get is boring grind.
3. FF14 is indeed peak MMO content now, but the changes are over-sold: if you didn’t like the average MMO style before, you still won’t like FF14, because the grinding and repetitive combat is still ultimately the same.
Cyberpunk 2077 is similar: if your problem with the game was that it was too easy, that cars were useless, and/or that the lore of going cyber psycho didn’t match the gameplay, then the new patch fixes all of that. If the problem is that you wanted more narrative control, or an open world that’s more STALKER than Assassins Creed, then yeah, you’re going to be disappointed.
Even so, my own experience playing on launch was the game was never bad: none of the bugs went beyond visuals, the side missions offered a fair amount of variety in how you could approach them, and while the inventory system was uninspired, it was still functional. It’s effectively been pushed from an 8/10 to a 9/10: a strong Action RPG who’s ambition exceeded the developer’s ability, but still solid, and still far more ambitious than something like Borderland 3.
exactly i played no mans grind 4 times with different updates, still boring and grinding and fallout 76 has so bad writing that there is a mission in which a woman dethrones the head of the brotherhood to get rid of the “old ways” for the news ways, typical modern day progressive feminist writing. Its like that meme that says “what do i do know” and his supervisor says “do what they taught you in college” and he is thinking of a rainbow flag, because this is what they were taught at college. Like i said 8 is the new average, games are so hard to make and take so much time out of the lives of developers that if your game is not a complete unmitigated buggy broken disaster you deserve a participation medal of 8 for technically making a game that works, fun? Is it good? Who cares it works, and thats all that matters it just works.
“i played no mans grind 4 times with different updates”
Jokes on you for expecting a different “gameplay loop”. If you don’t see potential with a janky game, polishing it won’t make much difference.
You should stop having expectations from john simply by seeing how he writes articles, like a small child
The new patches do not fix all of that, stop gaslighting.
No John doesn’t play anything, he launches a game and he w*nks on the graphics for 10mn (15mn if it has RT and 5 hours if it’s a UE4/5 game) then he writes a very basic article about how the game scales on multiple CPU cores and calls it a performance analysis, the other guys who do actual reviews in this site like Shaoling and Spencer have far greater knowledge than him
If you haven’t met the guy and/or only seek to make a caricature out of him, perhaps rethink referring to him, informally, by first-name. That practice is incongruous with the tonality of the topic, at best.
I don’t have much experience with FF14 (tab-targeting MMO’s aren’t my thing), and I never played Fallout 76, but I have spent quite a bit of time in No Man’s Sky and I can vouch for the amount of work that Hello Games have put into their game without charging their customers anything extra. The amount of work that has gone into Cyberpunk 2077, even with the 2.0 patch, has been insignificant by comparison.
Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the patch. The new police system is especially nice, although as John said it should have been there from the beginning rather than being delivered in a patch nearly 3 years later. I’ll have to start a new playthrough of the game to get a feel for how the changes effect the game overall, but so far what I’ve seen from a couple of hours of screwing around the changes seem fairly solid.
FFS if you can afford a new game you can easily afford a SSD …. Why anyone would put up with a hard drive in 2023 is beyond me. Even my 86 year old mother has an SSD in her computer.
Well said John.
What a surprise!
Its a comeback nevertheless
Meanwhile in the real world both CD Projekt Red is loved for being its own thing and being able to carry themselves in a sea of publishing hell companies and Cyberpunk 2077 is on many peoples list as being their absolute favourite game.
The article is arrogant, and so are most of the comments here.
“The devs and I are right and every opinion against it comes from wrong and arrogant people”
Comapred to other games that had a “comeback” cyberpunk is the best one and is worthy of the title 🤷♂️
I hope you are at least getting paid to be retärd on the internet.
Have you spent anytime at length playing 2.0? The AI, itemization, economy, combat, etc have all been overhauled. It’s like a completely different game because they rebuilt fundamental systems.
This is why they recommended starting a new game, because you won’t understand how much things have fundamentally changed. People are crying because netrunner doesn’t feel god-like anymore, they think it’s nerfed, but it’s only the people who loaded their 100+ hour saves with the vast majority of content already done.
OTOH, people taking the time to fully digest 2.0 think its more fun than ever because it’s actually balanced now.
I think this article isn’t going to age well once people come back for Phantom Liberty. I can’t fathom how one could play 2.0 at length and share your opinions.
I started a netrunner build when the patch came out. It’s not nerfed as long as you upgrade your quickhacks and cyberware at rippers. Grouping enemies together with Call Backup and then hitting them with Contagion still does massive amounts of damage.
Yeah, it’s evident if you engage with the systems as intended instead of just loading up a save you had from 1.0. I think CDPR could have done a better job of emphasizing the fundamental changes they made in 2.0 There being a dedicated dodge button is incredibly simple, yet has a profound change.
every enemy is same level as you so they are utter bulletsponges now. So much for “balance”
Bullet sponges? They die pretty quickly for me. I’ve been able to headshot and they die, sometimes 2-3 shots. They might not die as fast because you don’t have the illusion of feeling God like because there’s no more low level mooks, but they’re a far cry from bullet sponges, and I’m playing on very hard. Might be a build issue, especially if you loaded an old 1.0 save that you use hit max level on and duped to high heaven.
If you start from the beginning, adapt to the new skill trees, economy, itemization, etc you shouldn’t have a problem nuking enemies.
what about the elite enemies do they die fast too? Or the spider aliens?
We were never going to get the game they promised back in 2018. Because it was too ambitious for this current diversity hire team. The old game was a vision of the original Cdpr , diversity hire developers can’t make great games. Because their brains are constantly obsessing over identity politics.
This is just how all media is now in 2023. Movies games literature everything sucks now. Thanks blue hair land whales , what a great progressive place we are now ….
Luckily there’s still asian artists to save us. Few, but still.
I extremely hate that they removed loot rarity drops and the stats from clothes.
looter shooters are awful.
Shao Kahn was always right!
This tech demo has nothing to offer other than advertise.
Valid criticism is often viewed as hatred to those that are too stüpid or too young to know better. Which are you?
So just stoopid, then?
Trying to sound adult, eh?!
Adults wouldn’t do a tantrum when people talk about their little hobbies. Grow up.
What a whingey little b*tch. I bet you need a punch in the face
Maybe in a few years Starfail will be a decent game as well
Just need the modders to better engage and in 6 months it will be acceptable. But for that, will be needed an almost completely removal of NPCs.
Today I went to start a cop fight, after the Keystone cops turned up i ran around the nearest corner expecting them to follow me, but they didn’t. When i peaked around the corner they were wandering up and down street mostly in the original spot, with weapons raised, murmuring things about how they were going to get me and stuff. Then i tried again and got in a cop car, it was defo a bit harder, but when i got out and legged it, it was very easy to lose them.
So i went and found a Cyber-psycho thing. I approached the bad guy to proc it and started fighting (shotgun). I was playing on very hard and backed off a bit and jumped on top of a car, he could do no damage to me (even though he had a gun) and i shot-gunned him a bit. Then his amazing AI kicked in and he ran off and hid behind something nearby. I jumped down off the car and he ran back over, i simply jumped back up and shotgunned him again. Rinse / repeat. Dead Cyber-psycho. Also, the game generally is still too easy.
As far as the Cop AI (that some websites are creaming themselves over since 2.0)…. my game must be bust cause it doesn’t play the same way. GTA5 was doing this stuff better almost 10 years ago.
Also, there was a buzz and feeling of immersion in Los Santos that Night City doesn’t really seem to match.
As regards the Story / missions, CP 2077 is very very good. The character models and voice acting is the best I have seen. But as soon as you go off into the sandbox to make your own fun … the wheels start to come off. As i say GTA5 was doing the sandbox way better almost 10 years ago.
This guy is a literal subhuman lol. Trashing on Cyberpunk 2077, but also hyping Bethesda titles like Starfield or Fallout.
Games that way over promised and way under delivered in features. Riddled with bugs that actually break the game and require frequent reloads. That somehow manage to be extremely performance-intensive, despite having incredibly dated graphics. With poorly written (and voice acted) dialog. Unimmersive animations, NPCs, and atmosphere. Hardly any narrative freedom, and sh*t stories and storytelling to boot. They’re super fun games, but objectively speaking, their production is way worse than Cyberpunk.
Learn some critical thinking skills
Yeah anyone that praises Bethesda, who purposely made bad games in a bad engine that is mod friendly in order to get gamers to finish their work, loses me hard. Skyrim is probably the worst game of our lifetime but you wouldn’t know that because of the modders. Miss me with that FOOLISHNESS. If this was jewbisoft they would’ve abandoned the game and phantom Liberty would just be cyberpunk 2. But I’m not a big fan of cdpr like I once was, but I can give them credit for what they did.
Too bad they became shills of themselves. Instead of making masterpieces like they did before, they just pay streamers to hype it, as if it’s is that way. The hype train on phantom Liberty is just disgusting right now. Once you start putting these celebrities and spineless streamers in your game, you’re telling me where your priority lives. I’ve worked in marketing for 20 years and half of that time I spent with Microsoft, Toyota, Hyundai & Nissan. So I know what deceitful marketing looks like. The word on the street has always been, instead of doing the work, we’ll just pay someone to say we did.
Bro nice way to gain publicity but it’s has grown from unplayable to enjoyable although it didn’t take single update but still better than you as you still can’t improve.
Coming back to this it’s amazing how the grift is so similar to the initial release of the game w Phantom Liberty, PL. With v2 and PL it’s like a storm of those desperate to say how great it all is and how wonderful cpdr is. Like somehow it’s any different, other than less bugs but after 3 years it damwell should have less bugs.
It’s the same freaking game with some tweaks and some stuff that shoehorns you into certain playstyles of cpdrs choosing compared to the more options in 163, totally nukes a ton of mods that made the game way better, even stole a few of the big mods outright. For those of us whom have control over their games there will be a v2PL version and a previous modded version. At least it gives you the opportunity to just start a new game and go directly to PL, likely just do that.
Salty. Someone’s pet games were challenged.
Y’all need to desist with the synecdoching of “media.”
I mean to ignore the changes to driving in the update….that on its own is incredible. Makes it feel like a GTA game. I found myself driving around doing nothing for over an hour. Something I was never able to do/enjoy in the original. Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 is amazing.
After putting in some time with the expansion and seeing more of the game in general, I take back what I said about this being good and not exceptional.
It is exceptional.
The open world feels a lot more alive, especially in Dogtown.
I hope cdpr goes bankrupt.
