GTA 5 Inworld Sentient Streets - AI Story Mode

Take-Two shuts down the AI-powered story mod for GTA 5

Remember Inworld Sentient Streets? You know, the story mod for GTA 5 that featured AI-powered NPCs. Well, to the surprise of no one, Take-Two has just shut it down.

Bloc, the modder behind Inworld Sentient Streets, explained.

“About the mod itself, at this moment, the NexusMods version has been removed, by DMCA Takedown by Take-Two Interactive just today. Most likely this is what will happen to gta5mods too but I removed that one myself to avoid any legal trouble.”

Take-Two has also hit Bloc’s YouTube and Netlify accounts with copyright strikes. And, given what happened with NexusMods, this doesn’t appear to be an automated error. These are manual strikes from Take-Two.

This is really funny, especially since a few days ago, Rockstar revealed the acquisition of the modding team behind FiveM (and RedM). Ironically, Take-Two also shut down FiveM back in 2015.

It’s really unacceptable how Take-Two and Rockstar treat their PC modding community. One would think that the companies would be grateful to modders for adding new content to their games. Seriously, modders give PC gamers reasons to actually buy these older games. However, Take-Two is desperately trying to kill its PC fanbase. Oh, and let’s not forget that Red Dead Redemption is skipping the PC (at least for now). What more do you want?

At this point, PC gamers and modders should simply stop supporting Take-Two’s and Rockstar’s games. This behavior is simply unacceptable. I know that it’s easier to get noticed when modding well-known triple-A games. And, both GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are among the most popular games.

However, as I’ve said before, PC gamers should be voting with their wallets. Complaining about these things won’t change anything. Take-Two knows that it has some of the most popular games, so they don’t really care. However, if the popularity of its games significantly drops, you can bet your asses they’ll do everything they can to win back their PC fans!

  1. +1 on the article John and I agree. Publishers only understand money. Complaints on the web don’t usually faze them at all.

      1. well a lot of people game on consoles where modding is only for hacked consoles and barely even for those. lol can you imagine still gaming on a console in 2023 with how strong and great PCs are roflmao (I mean real PCs, aka windows, not linux/unix which is made for those who got beat up a lot in school or even crappier, macs which is made for those with no brain)

  2. Not surprised. It’s R* we’re talking about. They probably have a dedicated studio only to track and shutdown Mods.

  3. “voting with your wallet” is the dumbest argument imaginable, because you can already see the end result right before your eyes, it gave you the inverse of what you wanted, by making take two the behemot they are today. Fixing copyright laws could be a long term solution, but since no one is gonna do that (hence long term) you need to go underground with piracy mods.

And Since we are talking about mods, your daily reminder that John won’t cover Grounded Commonwealth mod for FO4 because the woke mob scares him.

    1. It would be nice if gamers had boycott power, but let’s be real for a second. Gamers are the biggest problem with gaming, even beer consumers can boycott better than us. The only W i can think of is that we scared CliffyB out of gaming (would be nice if he could just change his ways but let’s be real for another second).

      1. Impatience and lack of self-restraint have almost always been a problem with many gamers even back when you couldn’t return a game for a refund many gamers still pre-ordered and rushed to buy games at release and bought games from Publishers that treated PC gamers like dirt. They got burned over and over again but still came back for more abuse from Publishers.

I probably won’t be winning a popularity contest with the younger folks when I say this but the latest generation of gamer’s lack of patience and self-restraint has reached epidemic proportions. It is definitely one of the big reasons for the pitiful state of the gaming industry these days. There are others big reasons as well too.

      2. Boycott power and gamers don’t even belong in the same sentence together unfortunately. Far too many gamers have little patience or self control with purchases. They have to have the games at release or even pre-order them. I remember trying for years back before you could return games for a refund to warn gamers about the foolishness of pre-ordering but I don’t think I ever convinced anyone to stop doing that no matter how many times they got burned. They just kept coming back for more abuse.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results..

Thanks for the heads up on that mod, I didnt know about it. It’s so appealing that Im going to see if I can the game cheap (or free lol) just to get that mod. The amount of work they did is awesome.

      1. They??? A singular person who does not have multiple personalities did this, him/her or s/he since it’s one person that you don’t know what that person is or just he/him since nearly all interesting/fun things are made by males.

        1. They – meaning a few people. It wasnt just one person who contributed to the mod.

Even comes with a nice long read explaining why all the changes, so yeah pretty cool. Worth donating a few bucks even if people dont have the game.

    3. Yes, cause voting with your wallet never gets the attention of the company making the game *cough*FFXVI*cough*90% decline in sales on week 2*cough*SE is panic mode*cough* cause yep, voting with your wallets is clearly dumb. lol

maybe you should stop reporting on mods for cuckstar games altogether.

    1. I’m sure if you were offered a few millions and a secure, well-paid job you’ll turn it down ‘for the community.’

  5. “PC gamers and modders should simply stop supporting Take-Two’s and Rockstar’s games.”

What about PC gaming sites such as yours truly? Will you continue covering Take-Two and their games? Or is it just up to us with your pleas to “do something”? Not that i endorse take-two in any way, since the only game of them that i own i got thanks to EGS giving it for free.

    1. We don’t cover DLCs or Season Passes which we believe is a cancer to gaming. So these past 10 years we’ve been doing something. And yet, DLCs and Season Passes still sell like crazy. So, this should give you an idea of the power we have. We don’t have any and no matter what we’ve done, nothing has changed.

Given that mod articles focus on the modders and not the companies, we don’t see any reason why we should stop. In fact, some modders have landed jobs on some gaming studios thanks to our articles.

      1. I’m talking about not giving coverage to game companies that have these predatory pratices, unless it is negative coverage like this particular post. But this would hurt your bottom line way more than Take Two.

        1. he basically wants you to become fake news by selectively picking what to cover and what to hide from your audience. don’t listen to him, he just sounds b-u-t-t-hurt

    2. …yep cause ignoring news and not reporting it is clearly the best way to go about it, see how well that worked for cnn with all the stuff they refuse to cover, lowest ratings since before this year’s high school graduates were even born. so yeah, let’s make dsogaming as bad as cnn. lol

      1. Ask John why he won’t cover a Fallout 4 mod called Grounded Commonwealth. He already refuses to cover what he finds inconvenient, he could at least boycott scummy devs for a change instead of asking others to do it.

    1. smh at your inability to understand something so simple. they aren’t stopping modding…nevermind, keep being stupid, yep they are stopping modding…

  6. But hey guys, they bought mod teams to monetize the sh*t out of the gamemodes they created!
    They totally care!!!

  7. Game companies will keep behaving like this because they know that the average person now is a gamer. And a lot of gamers don’t want to be left out when a new game comes out so they have to run out and buy it. Yes I know there’s outliers but for the most part new games get bought even if there’s complaints. I want more games to have modding support. Not less. In fact I have bought games simply because they had a strong support for modding. Otherwise I would have passed them by.

      1. Charging money for mods is actually a legitimate reason for a developer to shut them down because now you are using their IP without a license to make profits for yourself.

In fact that’s why most mods have always been free, developers usually allow it (legally they don’t have to allow their IP to be modded) as long as no one is profiting from their IP.

But the way contract law works with software a developer can stop anyone from modding their games because a mod is completely worthless and can’t work without the IP the game is made on. Don’t like it then tell your Congresspersons and Senators to change it because they are the ones that wrote these laws in the first place.

        1. not true, if a mod has nothing in it that is an ip for another company, then the mod is your own work, nobody but the creator has any control over it, for example if you make a mod to add yourself to a game, there is nothing anyone can do about it. Companies can try and even dcma you, but take down notices are not the law, it’s just a formal way of telling you to stop or we will sue you, then it’s up to a judge to decide what happens and no, the judges do not automatically side with the companies, they side with what the law says. Remember, many dcmas do not have legal standing and will go nowhere in court, it’s just a scare tactic to stop you.

  8. Take-Two knows that AI can produce a more compelling GTA story that’s in keeping with the franchise’s history and traditions than what the woke clowns they’ve installed at Rockstar can produce for GTA VI!

    1. They know it can, especially since Dan left the company and took people with him for a new venture.

The talent is no longer there.

      1. Red Dead, both 1 and 2 were written by Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar.

He left the company shortly after RDR2 release.

  9. I said it before f*k rockstar and the piece of sh*t take two, 2 clowns that never give a single care for their community, just look what they doing now ? they gonna release 1 a*s game in 10 years, while releasing broken sh*t remasters that they cant even release properly on all systems.

    1. it’s a company out to make money, not to be your best friend. Product made, either you buy it or you don’t, end of story.

      1. Ohh yeah ? then why 1990-2010 companies were so full of passion and dedication along with their communities ?

  10. Need to be sued. Similar to when Apple tried to make jailbreaking illegal and was told they can’t. Can’t tell people what to do with their own legally owned copy. As long as it’s not bypassing the requirement to legally own the original game, they should have no say over it. They already got their money and they can stfu.

    1. They can’t and aren’t telling people they can’t mod, but they can take down distribution if they feel mod crosses them, but this being the internet and all, they can’t truly stop distribution. I got this mod after it was taken down from those sites.

      1. Ehh….doesn’t quite work like that because that phone in question is having their licensed operating system modified. The phone itself isn’t being modified. It’s the licensed software that’s being modified.

  11. On top of it all, they are going woke. The next gta will be very telling because they never needed to cater to woke crowds to have their games successful. But now the protagonists roster shows they’ve become just as woke as every other companies now.

    1. I have to agree with you, that main chic will be heavily modded to make her appealing instead of flat.

  12. So glad I never even played GTA V.
I never liked that company anyway.

Meanwhile, I see SEGA giving total freedom to hackers who modify their games any way they want. 😅 Now THAT’s a real gaming company.

    1. another one…smfh, at no point did they stop allowing mods, modding does not work on a permission based methology…

  13. Good im glad they take the crap down. You cant mod content to software thats not yours. Then have the nerve to say hey were just here adding content. This post is stupid and they got what was coming to them.
