First Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart PC patch improves Ray Tracing visuals

Nixxes has just released the first PC patch/hotfix for Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. According to the patch notes, this first update improves the game’s Ray Tracing visuals, and resolves visual issues with characters occurring on certain GPUs.

This patch does not feature any fix for the frame pacing/stutters we’ve reported. So, if you’re experiencing such issues, we suggest taking a look at this workaround. Given the nature of PC gaming, some PC systems may not suffer from these stutters. For what it’s worth, we’ve been able to replicate this issue multiple times on our PC system (more than twenty times and counting).

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the first game to support DirectStorage 1.2 with GPU Decompression. Additionally, it supports Ray Tracing effects on PC to enhance the game’s reflections, shadows and ambient occlusion.

The game’s launch version had some really weird ray-traced reflections and shadows. Thankfully, this hotfix addresses these graphical issues, allowing PC gamers to enjoy the RT reflections and RT shadows in their full glory.

As always, Steam will download this first PC patch for Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart the next time you launch its client. Below you can also find its complete changelog.

Lastly, our non-RT PC Performance Analysis for this Ratchet and Clank game will go live this weekend. Until then, you can go ahead and take a look at these DLSS 3 and Ray Tracing benchmarks.

  1. No fix for perfomance drops… So people still are forced to do some magic with entering menus and changing resolutions… Oh lord.

    1. Better than the last Jedi survivor patch, you see that one? lol. Man the bar is so low atm with games.

      1. Yeah it’s like a competent PC port has become the exception instead of the norm. But this is to be expected when you have vast amounts of brain-dead consoomers consooming unpolished products. Not just that, but a fair portion of these NPCs will even defend these broken games. We live in the dumbest of times.

  2. There is a way to fix the stuttering issues, but it comes at a cost. Set texture quality to medium….bam, stutters gone. As long as you don’t mind ugly textures up close, this workaround is a lifesaver.

        1. Funny you calling my rig slow, but I’ve played every game maxed out this year, at 60 stable FPS and no stuttering whasoever, while streaming at same time.

While most NVidia users been having issues not only with low VRAM, but CPU overhead due to drivers.

My rig is so slow, we were getting over 40FPS of advantage over NVidia, in games like Hogwarts Legacy, as reported by DSOGaming itself.

          1. My NV card if faster than yours with DLSS on.

            And it’s a 60 class card renamed as a 70.

            that’s how bad Amslow is

          2. There is only your problem with your poor attempt at trolling, I haven’t stated anywhere what GPU I’m using.

And by using DLSS you by default not running at native resolution, unlike me.

So whatever crap GPU you have is not faster than mine.

And the latest game analysis at DSOGaming, confirms my claims.

          3. It doesn’t matter, I assume u had a 7900XTX which is AMDs faster offering, my statement holds true, my 4070Ti is faster with DLSS on.

And DLSS is already indistinguishable from native, sometimes even better. AMDFanboy channel HWUNBOXED confirmed it.

          4. It doesn’t matter cause you a NVidia fanboy, especially since the 7900 XTX has 4090 performance, far beyond the capabilities of the 4070 Ti.

Feel free to go troll somewhere else /blocked

  3. Nixxes is almost starting to get back to the Legacy of Kain days of ports on PC. Rushed and worse than console gaming. I thought maybe they would really do well but apparently the whole Sony buying them has just made things really bad. Nixxes glory from the TR Reboot days are no more.

    1. As is true of so many Developers. Their glory days are long over. I think one of the biggest reasons is in employee hiring criteria. Many Publishers/Developers are more interested in diversity in their workforce than in talent and experience. Hell, Ubisoft has come right out and said years ago that their number one priority going forward was diversity. It can’t be more obvious what has happened to gaming.

The other big reason is Publishers rushing games out even though they aren’t ready for release. That’s obvious as well. Developers, such as they are, need more time to patch and polish their games before release.

  4. I do not think these pc ports of Sony exclusives are doing well. I saw a chart pointing out total active users of all of these games, and the numbers were not spectacular.
