The Lord of the Rings ring of power

Amazon Games has announced a new The Lord of the Rings MMO

Amazon Games and Embracer Group have announced a new massively multiplayer online (MMO) game based on The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien.

According to the press release, this upcoming game will be an open-world MMO adventure. The Lord of the Rings MMO will feature the stories of the trilogy, as well as of The Hobbit. The game is in early stages of production, with Amazon Games Orange County – makers of the open-world MMO game New World – leading development.

Christoph Hartmann, VP at Amazon Games, said:

“We’re committed to bringing players high-quality games, whether through original IPs or long-beloved ones like The Lord of the Rings.

Bringing players a fresh take on The Lord of the Rings has long been an aspiration for our team, and we’re honored and grateful that Middle-earth Enterprises is entrusting us with this iconic world. We’re also pleased to be expanding our relationship with Embracer Group following our Tomb Raider deal last year, as they’ve proven to be excellent collaborators.”

Lee Guinchard, CEO of Freemode, also added:

“The world of Middle-earth continues to prove an endlessly fertile ground for creators, and Amazon Games has a passion for building immersive, compelling worlds and publishing games for a global audience.

We have the clear ambition to create the highest-quality entertainment products for this IP, whether we utilize internal resources or team up with the best industry partners that complement our capabilities. We’re taking every care to deliver an MMO which will do justice to the expansive Middle-earth universe and delight players around the world.”

Amazon Games has not shared any screenshots or teaser trailer for this TLOTR game. It’s also worth noting that Amazon had previous canceled a The Lord of The Rings MMO game. So yeah, it will be interesting to see what will happen with this one!

    1. Something without identity politics (until recently). Now you can make a human “woman” in LOTR Online with a beard. Enjoy the destruction of this property. Tolkien’s son Christopher who put together The Silmarillion and protected his father’s legacy disowned the current head of the family estate (Simon) for a reason and that lawyer married a chosen. As soon as Christopher died Tolkien’s legacy was being subverted and you got Rings of Power.

Works that heavily involved and pushed Christian themes (especially in the Silmarillion) is now in the hands of people who study Kabbalah and who converted their children (Nicholas Tolkien) to Judaism to deny the God Tolkien served.

As an aside look at the children of Clinton, Biden and Trump. Who did they all marry? I’m sure that was all coincidence, just like the people who ended up with Star Wars that George Lucas called “white slavers” in his last TV interview (he’s not wrong, see Aaron Lopez). Now Star Wars is heading towards moral grey and duality. Expect the same thing to happen to Tolkien’s works.

  1. Lock up your GPUs. I wouldn’t load anything from “Amazon Games” after their New World fiasco.

    1. Wouldn’t they have been saved if people put a global cap on in NVCP? You want one 3 lower than the Gsync monitor refresh rate anyways. Or was it not a menu running at 3000 FPS issue and something in game?

  2. Really insisting on this?
Oddly enough, nothing LOTR in videogames has been quite up the success of the movies, maybe except for Shadow of Mordor by Monolith…
Not to say there weren’t good games, just that they weren’t as big. It’s like one of those cursed IPs you’d better avoid as a company.
