The Last of Us Part I Title Update 1.0.4.0 released, is 24GB in size, brings CPU & GPU optimizations, full patch notes

Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy have released Title Update 1.0.4.0 for the PC version of The Last of Us Part I. According to the release notes, this patch brings CPU and GPU optimizations to the game.

Moreover, this patch fixes a crash that could occur during shader building. It also resolves a crash that could occur when quitting to the Main Menu.

Interestingly enough, this update also adds a Texture Streaming setting. Not only that, but Naughty Dog claims that it has improved texture fidelity and resolution on the in-game Low and Medium settings. As such, PC gamers with lower than 8GB will now be able to enjoy the game with better quality textures.

As always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Do note that this is a really big patch. According to Steam, it’s around 24GB in size. Below you can also find its complete changelog.

    1. Blame $ony.
Originally, before the public even knew the release date, this game was supposed to come out during the premiere of the series, i.e. in January.
But someone begged for a later date and later on they moved even further, which didn’t help anyway because this game would have to spend another year in the “oven”

  1. Is bandwidth really that cheap this days so that you can put half finished game and patch it with 100 giga patches? I mean, there is like millions people who buy AAA games and update regularly

      1. Yes, data caps are for suc.. I mean US citizens, I can dl terabyte per month if I want, but I meant on dev side. Even is that 24 GB cost even one cent, its millon cents for million customers. Not small money, especially if you update game non stop

        1. Steam (or any digital store) is the one handling the bandwidth from downloads, and Valve’s charging 30% for it (of course there’s the additional features, the userbase and marketing coming within the package).

      1. Thats why cos isp assumed that average customer will use like 10% or that something of available bandwidth. IF most of people would start suckin terabytes per hour, isps would have to raise prices a lot

  2. Glad I dodged this bullet. I’ve been playing The Division 2 since it launched on Steam and it appears they finally fixed the random crashes o/

        1. Unlike you I’m a professional that pulls down a couple hundred K per year (And that doesn’t include investment income) ….. Although by this time next year after I sell my business I’ll be a retired millionaire

    1. Dude, stop lying those can’t be the devs. Those are people from there neighborhood improve comedy club. That we know for sure ain’t funny. Vxgina & Period Jokes all damn day long.

        1. That’s a damn lamaze class. What are they developing a baby? Which by the looks of them, that’s not even possible because I’m sure 75% of them have killed a few babies. Oh Lord, this world is done for.

By the way, there is a movie out there for anyone reading this called “nefarious” y’all should check it out. It’s about the spiritual battle, which we’ve clearly lost. ?

        2. probably from HR, PR and Finance staff. While the real developer that really touch the game are single person lock in a room somewhere because their fellow programmer ended up being fired of transphobia after reporting one of their trans staff trying to take him out to a date multiple times while he didint want to

    1. I havent bought TLOU1 remake yet, but people who have this game say performance is better, and the VRAM usage is reduced by 1GB. BTW. TLOU1 loads 2x as many textures compared to the Uncharted, so I dont expect they will improve VRAM usage that much with later patches.

  3. I refuse to pirated it (to buy it was out of the question), when I hear about the issues. We encourage them, preorder games, and this is the result, stop buying their damn games, till you see how they run. We test and fix their games that we pay for it!

No Man’s Sky si Cyberpunk.

  4. Respect for the Devs, they listen to their customers feedbacks and try to fix bugs and problems, so Kudos to them. Many broken games was released from different studios but they are not fixed yet even after years.

    1. “Respect for the devs for releasing a shltty unfinished piece of cr4p!”

      Company bootlickers everywhere, mate!

      1. Oh God I can’t stand them. Those “respect/thanks to the devs idiots are still lurking around and muddying up the gene pool. I just don’t get it. I know they are not that sympathetic when they order a meal from a supposed 8 Michelin star chef and it sucks. Or better yet, I don’t even have to go that far. Ordering eggs from a diner and they screw that up. I’m sure he doesn’t say, “respect for cook he really listened to me”.

  5. It is official. No games worth it on release. Wait for the first sale a couple of months after release

  6. Finally playable build for my PC (R7 5700X + RTX 3060 Ti with 32 GB of RAM), no crashes apparent and I can even set it on Ultra without a dip from 60 FPS at 1080p (I put the limit to 60). This should have been the released version …
