Earlier this month, we informed you about a DLSS 3 Frame Generation that is in development for Elden Ring and Skyrim. And yesterday, PureDark released a video that gives us a glimpse at this DLSS 3 Mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
In this video, PureDark simulated a CPU-bottleneck scenario in order to showcase the framerate improvements that DLSS 3 Frame Generation brings to the table. And, as with other games using DLSS 3, you can expect your overall performance to double.
Let’s also not forget that Skyrim was never able to take full advantage of multicore CPUs. In fact, PC players had to mess with the game’s INI in order to improve performance. So, by using DLSS 3, you can effectively bypass these CPU bottlenecks. This is similar to what we saw in The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Update, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed.
The fact that modders can implement DLSS 3 Frame Generation is various games is something that really excites me. And do you know what game would greatly benefit from it? Grand Theft Auto 4. Yes, GTA 4 is a game that desperately needs DLSS 3 Frame Generation. After all, it still is a CPU-heavy title, even in 2024. Thus, let’s hope that PureDark will consider adding it to it. That’s of course after releasing the DLSS 3 Mods for Elden Ring and Skyrim.
Unfortunately, there is still no word on when this mod will be publicly available. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

GTA IV’s performance problems are entirely fixed with DXVK tho. GTA V would need a TAA solution much more than GTA IV.
The problem with this is it doesn’t work with an ENB which is when you really need something like this and Boris (Dev for ENB) doesn’t seem real keen about trying to make it work with ENB. You can’t use DLSS 2 with an ENB either because this mod also allows you to enable DLSS and DLAA
John, besides already living in the year 2024, how about instead of waiting for something that might never happen, you just recommend people add DXVK to GTA IV which already fixes the game’s CPU bottleneck today, and does so for many times more people than just RTX 40 series owners?
GPU bound, stick to DX11 or 12
CPU bound, DXVK makes more sense
Most people don’t understand the main difference. DXVK or Vulkan in general moves some of the load off the CPU and puts it on the GPU which helps with CPU bound games. However if you are already GPU bound then DXVK will only overload the GPU more and cause worse 1% and 0.1% lows and even stuttering in some cases

Then please explain how the following result is even possible, since you keep repeating the objectively false information that DX12 has supposedly better 1% & 0.1% lows than Vulkan:

Thanks!
My tests with RDR2 showed the exact opposite …. While I got a couple more of completely unnoticeable FPS on average the 1% and 0.1% lows were worse and it wasn’t nearly as smooth ….. But I’m sure a Vulkan Fanboi could find a “custom scene” that got the results they desired ,,,,
Huge. You can finally get over the stupid 60 fps locks without breaking the physics in some sh**ty ports.

Ah very interesting point! Hadn’t thought of that! Some games have mods for that but some don’t and is solves performance problems for any game anyway
As if we have not seen this cockroach of gaming million times before but this time with fake frames…sigh
Diablo 4 Ray Tracing leak. 4070Ti DOA. Not enough VRAM.

pretty textures but so much jerky cam they could audition for camera operator on the next Cloverfield movie.
Now possible, Skyrim with 3000 mods!!! Can’t wait! /s
gta v could also use dlss 3
the fsr 1 mod looks horrible and doesn’t cut it
