Death_Chopper has released an overhaul mod for Doom 3 that attempts to bridge the gap between classic Doom, Doom 3 and modern Doom.
Going into mode tails, Doom 3: Retaliation tweaks the game’s gallery of enemies, weapons, and missions. Furthermore, the mod adds some new adversaries and weapons to spice things up. The mod also features many graphical changes, such as small changes to the particle effects, or overhauled lighting for some missions. And while the mod focuses on action and movement, it retains Doom 3’s atmosphere.
Doom 3: Retaliation changes the experience by completely overhauling enemy behavior and giving every single weapon some kind of utility. The modder has also overhauled combat encounters in the missions, to give seasoned players a new challenge.
It’s also worth noting that the modder has changed nearly every single enemy in every mission. As such, some maps will feel like a gauntlet. The maps have also all gotten tweaked encounters, and have been balanced for the pacing, to make for a steady increase in difficulty.
You can download the mod from here.
Have fun!

It’s literally just Doom 3, zero resemblance to any other Doom game, especially not the classics.
Never said it resembled them, but they certainly inspired it.
You picked my curiosity, but in the Nexus site it says your mod is in quarantine. Another question, does it come with texture mods, could i add HD mods from other creators? Make a page on Moddb, it’s better than Nexus.
The mod’s main page is on moddb, and idk why its quarantined I’ve carried it over to every computer i use and its worked fine
downloading now but it’s quite slow. So about the graphics, does it come with HD textures and whatnot?
The mod is packaged in with Doom 3 Redux, so the textures will look much better than vanilla Doom 3
you can move fast but no flashlight. Meh, how hard is it to make a game that makes doom 3 like the old games fast without having to pull out the flashlight?
If you gonna go for survival horror at least make the ammo more limited and make weapons more powerfull
Seriously! This looks fun with added speed, but without shoulder-mounter flashlight, it can get annoying when you can barely see the monsters…
Most enemies are identifiable without the flashlight anyways, I’m not gonna compromise the game’s atmosphere and tension by adding a shoulder mounted flashlight…
Most enemies can be seen without needing the flashlight, I designed it that way.
It’s all a matter of preference, I simply chose to make the flashlight it’s own weapon, and besides, I’m not going for survival horror. Doom 3’s always been action horror anyways.
Honestly, I just want a Doom 3 mod that plays like System Shock.
Too many combat overhauls already, what this game needs is a better gib system, and there’s some mod that hopefully will improve the enemy models.
The mod adds in gibs and improvements to the game’s textures and models, but suit yourself.
I haven’t seen it, are you the mod creator? Does bodies disappear like other mods?
Yes, I’m the creator if the username didnt give it away. But because of the gibs, bodies still disappear since you can’t actually break apart the model in Doom 3. And since the only weapons you can gib with are power weapons like the grenade and rocket/etc, you wont be seeing it until later in the game. However, all weapons have their own blood splatter and wound decals now instead of the same splat and decal used for every single weapon.
Yeah, i think the main issue with this engine is the way it handles enemy despawning, not immersive, and the body parts are even worse. Don’t know how i feel about the inclusion of half life sounds tbh.
Fair enough, the only half life sounds are the combine death and occasional chatter for the zsec.
I presume still no mods that allow this game to be played at >60 fps without speeding up it.
