Dead Space 2008 First-Person Mod

First-Person Mod released for Dead Space Classic (2008)

ReverseEngineeringGamer has released a pretty cool first-person mod for the original/classic 2008 version of Dead Space. In order to provide this first-person perspective, ReverseEngineeringGamer used CheatEngine, and then fine-tuned it.

As the modder claimed:

“The fine tuning of this mod is what took several months. I have to locate functions, compare variables, stabilize pointers, write bug free scripts, play-test, etc.

Although initially started out of curiosity as to see what else I can do other than create a free cam and player fly mod for Dead Space (2008), this quickly grew into a first-person mod project.”

The end result is great, and we highly recommend downloading it from here. After all, it will allow you to experience this classic horror shooter in a completely different way.

Those interested can find similar mods for other triple-A games. For instance, here are the first-person mods for The Witcher 3 Next-Gen, Days Gone, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake, Stray and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

Enjoy!

  1. Very cool. Tried playing the original a couple weeks ago but lost interest after 20 minutes due to 3rd person view. For some reason 3rd person doesnt feel right in games, just my preference since the Wolf3D days. Definitely grabbing this mod, thanks John!

    1. same, horizon zero dawn camera is awful, god of war is even worse, i have trouble aiming with the camera in control. If you gonna do third person do it like max payne or conflict series.

          1. All trash except for Hitman and Mafia 1 which would be 100 times better in first person.

          2. Hitman up to blood money already have built in fps, you dork. Seeing your character doing cool stuff is nice, just looking at their hands all the time gets boring. In any case you are wrong, as usual, how do you manage it?

          3. They didn’t have a fully functional fp camera and certainly weren’t built for it.
Seeing your character is cool only to autistic people.

          4. Cope more, f4gget. Go play your boomer shooter while the “autists” play the multimillion AAA franchises…

  2. Damn look how much better it looks and how bigger the environments look. I hate this third person shoulder camera it makes games look and control worse. Horizon sucks, god of war sucks, control doesnt suck but the aiming and camera is annoying, they would be much better in fps view.

    1. I recall reading something from the Developers that the over the shoulder camera added to the scariness of the game. I have no idea what that means. The over the shoulder camera was just awkward to me.

      1. it was gonna be system shock 3 originally but didnt have the rights, then they saw resident evil 4 and copied that.

  3. I wish someone wouldn’t make a mod for the janked up mouse controls that the developers had no intention of fixing.

  4. lol the npc entering ragdoll mode at 40 second marks never gets old. This mod looks cool, the unofficial sequel of Doom 3.

  5. Holy crap. I can finally play Dead Space! I’ve never understood the desire, especially in a horror game to not only ruin immersion by having it third-person, but also having your character take up 1/4 of the screen. So not only do I no longer feel like I’m the character anymore and am simply mind-controlling this person, but I also can’t see properly? It might work if the camera was further back so you could see something creeping up behind you, but it’s so close, much like the whole left side of your vision being blocked, you can’t actually see anything behind you. Ooooooo scary.

  6. Looks horrible. The modder just moved the camera into Isaac’s head, but didn’t bother to adjust UI and everything around it. Half-assed job.

  7. I might actually give this a shot. I can’t stand most 3rd person horror games with their deliberately slow/clunky aiming, movement and narrow field of view (done to try and build suspense, but just frustrates me). I liked the setting of this game, but not the gameplay.
