In September 2022, we informed you about a third-person camera mod for Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. And today, we are happy to report that this mod is available for download.
Created by modder ‘oct0xor’, this mod allows you to play MGS2 with the 3rd person camera (and game controls) from Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.
As the modder stated, the code to have a normal third-person camera was never present in the game. Thus, and in order to implement it, he had to reverse-engineer and rewrite many things in the game engine.
The result is pretty amazing, and we highly recommend downloading it from here.
Have fun!

Now this is a literal game changer. Absolutely Amazing!
Now you can play it by looking at the pretty graphics instead of staring at the minimap.
Can you use mouse yet or is this game still exclusive for homosexuals who use controllers?
This is amazing work…will have to try it out!
Still got this game somewhere. First game I bought that was on a dvd!
Not that impressive tbh. Make this 3rd person camera controlled by mouse and then we can talk.
True. Only cucks use controllers.
I guess the whole point of the mod is for being controller friendly?
For the kb+m the original is already perfect.
You joking right?
Always played it with kb+m and had nothing to complain about. So no, not joking, the original version was perfect for that combo.
Does this game even support mouse? Dude i finished this game keyboard only, it was quite the challange.
Well, now I’m in doubt… Can’t remember it not having mouse support. Will need to reinstall to check.
Well, here we go again!
If I needed an excuse to play this again, this is it.
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
