Techland has updated the Steam store page of Dying Light 2, revealing that the game will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. And, since we already have access to the game, we can confirm that the game does indeed use it.
From the looks of it, Dying Light 2 will be using a new version of Denuvo. While its executable file is only 2MB in size, there is also another DLL file that is around 500MB. This is the first time we see such a thing for a Denuvo-powered game.
Dying Light 2 Stay Human is a story-driven open-world action RPG. This time players are visiting the City – mankind’s last stronghold in the fight against the virus. Developed parkour mechanics enable players to explore the vast open world and master tactical combat. This lost civilization, a world set in the modern dark ages, requires creative approaches to finding items and crafting gear.
Dying Light 2 will support both AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS, and will be using numerous Ray Tracing effects. Thus, we’ll be sharing our first tech thoughts tomorrow.

Looks like you have missed this type of occurrence on countless Ubisoft, EA and Unity games.
Anyway, what’s sad is that they have been keeping it a secret all this time because preordering has been active. Denuvo 100% would have impacted preorder sales because nobody wants it in their games. And the DRM isn’t something you can add over a single night because most contracts are signed at least a year before launch and is used even during development and testing phases to prevent inside leaks.
What’s funny is that the community manager on steam community forums is saying techland is using denuvo to protect the effort of 1500 employees, when in reality the higher-ups don’t care about anybody below and just want the money. Also Denuvo won’t stop anybody from extracting assets and other resources.
He also said “(..) and we want to ensure that it will not impact your gaming experience, ” now I’m eagerly waiting for your impressions, Johnny. If you could comment whether the performance is within reason that would be great.
Yeah, those salary workers will be paid no matter what it does not effect them, and they use contractors which are guaranteed pay as well then let go. No one gets points on the package other than sniveling scheming management and probably not most of them either. That is all just for some dividends or perception so they can get dividends or something to do with the stock market nothing else.

They could be more transparent as they were with all the trailers and devs talking to fans but they kept this shitshow until now. NO thanks. Wait six months. The game will be $30 and the DRM will be removed. I know it sucks to have to avoid spoilers, but that is what you have to do if you want a DRM free version.
I always wait a couple of years and pick up the AAA game for around $15 to $20. In all the years that I have been doing this I’ve only ran into one spoiler. The ending of Bioshock Infinite.

Assuming the national average of $20 an hour that would be like $120,000 an hour in pay which comes to almost $250 million dollars a year. I doubt there are very many gamers in that income bracket.

You became one of my favorite developers after the first Dying Light and how pro consumer you were with it, but I will no longer support you after this. I thought you Polish people understood that great games will sell themselves and don’t need to resort to anti consumer DRM. I’m one of the few people it seems that have been rooting for Cyberpunk to succeed despite the controversy, largely because of their stance on DRM.
It pains me so much to see these once great and pro consumer companies start to lose their way. This is so frustrating and it feels like I’ve been stabbed in the gut. I’ve been looking forward to this game for so long. I had it preordered with the assumption that they would not add DRM. This game, Cyberpunk 2077, and Amnesia Rebirth are the only games I’ve ever preordered.
I know there are still a lot of great people at Techland that had nothing to do with this decision, but because of the decision of these misguided executives, I am cancelling my preorder and I regret that I supported you guys for the first game.
I hope that there is a huge outcry on the internet and you guys reverse this decision before the game is released. I really wanted to play this game badly and I want to root for you guys, but you spat in the face of all those that supported you for your once pro consumer actions and decided to treat your fans as thieves.
