God of War Update 1.0.4 released, full patch notes revealed

God of War came out on PC earlier this month and Santa Monica and Jetpack have already released four patches for it. The teams have just released a brand new update that adds support for DLSS Sharpening slider, and fixes a number of issues.

Going into more details, Update 1.0.4 fixes some rare instances of graphics driver crashes. It also fixes an issue with incorrect VRAM detection on Intel XE platform. Additionally, it resolves a crash that could occur at client shutdown.

As always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Below you can also find its complete changelog. Be also sure to read our PC Performance Analysis and PC Review.

  1. this is an amazing port + amazing support! Those patches coming so fast, people complained about sharpness and they added slider.

      1. Why would any dev ever support an archaic OS like Windows 7.

Just grow up already and learn to like newer things.

        1. They should first make a decent OS so i can migrate. Oh wait, they can’t… In any case, modders already made win 7 support, cope and seethe.

          1. Nothing wrong with 10 or 11. Get decent hardware pal.

Haven’t had a single issue with my 11900k/3070Ti system. Not one.

          2. Decent hardware for the game or for the OS? Because my hardware is decent enough for the game (and the fact win 10 or 11 sucks have nothing to do with hardware).

          3. So let’s stop any malicious intent here towards each other and actually talk.

Yes, I did mean for the game, and high end AAA games in general.

What exactly do you dislike about 10 and 11? The design? For me, 10 was annoying, but within a day I was comfortable using it, as comfortable as 7, but with vastly improved memory management vs 7.

From a software standpoint. I see no reason for any hardware, gaming or not to use Windows 7, Windows 10 is always faster.

I go where the performance is, always. Honestly with DXVK being worked on extensively, as long as shader compliation can be figured out on Linux, ill switch there. Because FPS is already better on Linux, frametimes are not, however.

          4. Win 10 is crippleware, it cripples my internet speed whereas it works fine with win 7. I do have both win 7 and win10 installed in case i want to play win 10 exclusive software, but so far win10 collects virtual dust in my HD…

          5. Haven’t experienced this myself.

Try something for me. Find out which driver your NIC is using in Windows 7 and install that driver in Windows 10.

I know for a fact its not the OS itself. M$ wouldn’t release an OS that ostensibly works worse.

          6. I love how broken i made jester the molester, he stopped pretending to be anti SJW pro trump conservative and just stalk and downvotes people with allegedly the same views nowadays.

          7. Never heard of Internet speed issue, maybe you need to manually set MTU?

Im running 2.5Gb fiber and im getting my speeds

Before this I had 1Gb fiber and before 500Mb cable, never had any internet issues. Its strange thats that your main problem

Download TCPOptimizer and run it as admin and select optimize it will set all the recommended settings, except MTU you need to run ping tests to find your MTU if its below 1500 [1492] then you have to set it manually.

BTW I moved to win11 and it detected my MTU automatically

          8. You know why it does this? By default it has QoS set to 80% meaning if anything else like Microsoft pings home you won’t be getting that max bandwidth

You can SOMEWHAT fix this in group policy, i have to do that at work so we can transfer files at actual GB speeds effing retarded however it rarely effects internet bandwidth mainly local bandwidth between machines

          9. Parrots repeating bullshit. Windows 11 is fine except for the same bullshit that was already in 10.

        2. Yes. I realize this.

I also realize that on the same system, installing Windows 10 or 11 will generally give better performance than 7 will.

          Especially in games.

    1. Amazing port? You sound like Sony give you a nice fat money bag.
This amazing port lacks BASIC FEATURE like fullscreen option.
No proper CPU and GPU optimizations list problems goes on.
Also 4 patches after few days? This just proofs that it was not properly done and tested.
      PS. VRAM still leaks 😉

    1. People need to understand the technical aspects of FSE and borderless.

“FSE aka Fullscreen Exclusive refers to a scenario where the game process has exclusive ownership and control of the display, and controls everything related to the display itself. This ensured the lowest possible latencies up until Windows 8.1ish since when using Discard (BitBlt) it meant that the presented frame could be directly outputted from the game to the display without any additional latencies added by copying the frame over to the DWM which then would present it to the display.”

Borderless mode performing poorly has to do with certain developers not implementing flip model presentation. Games that ship without FSE typically have it, such as GOW, therefore you’re getting the best latency/performance already.

“(DXGI) Flip model is a new mode introduced in Windows 8 that makes the swapchain work efficiently with the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) of Windows. Flip model eliminates performance penalties normally associated with windowed mode rendering and introduces new methods to measure and regulate render latency.

Flip model is required for all D3D12 software as well as all UWP games sold on the Microsoft Store. It is also useable in D3D10 and D3D11 software, but most developers shipping software on Windows are oblivious to this and your typical D3D11 game performs sub-par as a result.”

      1. I don’t have a latency problem with the EFS vs Borderless argument.

I’m annoyed I need to set my desktop at 1440p-1800p-2160p via VRS in order for the game to see the resolution in game. If there was Exclusive Fullscreen, I could’ve simply set the resolution in-game without bothering to change my Desktop resolution EVERY TIME I’d want to play this.

    1. And something anyone can barely understand too!

I have no idea if he is being serious, or funny, I laugh all the same at his weak attempts at communicating in English.

      1. He’s easily triggered, which tells me his wannabe nazi egleordism is a poor attempt to cover the fact that he’s nothing more than a spoiled brat.
