During its latest conference, Cygames revealed that its upcoming game, Project Awakening, will be coming to PC. In addition, the team revealed a new in-engine trailer that you can find below.
Project Awakening started as a PS4-exclusive game. However, it appears that this project was too ambitious for Sony’s previous gen console.
To be honest, this latest trailer also looks like something that current-gen consoles may not be able to achieve. I mean, it looks way better than what we’ve seen so far, and it’s more like what a PC game could look like.
Since the game still has a placeholder title, we can safely assume that it won’t be releasing anytime soon. As such, the final product may look worse than what Cygames has showcased.

Its one thing to create a fancy environment which most artist are more then capable of, its something else entirely to built a massive open world game. These kinds of projects usually either disappear or reappear years later as something else entirely.

Expectations are very high considering its cygames, the most popular game company in japan who also are their own anime animation studio, now with such a huge budget from Shadowverse their popular card game, princess connect, and pretty derby, they are moving on to console style games
Is there any information about this game, except this short and generic 3D world view? It’s quite underwhelming.
Very, very nice. Looks like Kingdom Come but with the verticality of real mountains and valleys and with the detail not breaking down at longer distances. I believe that the new consoles and high end PCs can pull this sort of thing off. But it’ll take many years to finish.

The way things are animated (from empty terrain to full graphics) at the start suggests that they are not pretending they have a full game. They are just showing off their world building tools, the foundation for the game. And they are showing us that they embrace a classic style when it comes to characters and music. No inappropriate modern beats or hair, and a white (or asian, can’t see his face) male protagonist. Lots of good signs.
I don’t see a reason to worry about the game. Just don’t expect it to come out in the next 2-3 years yet.
Its Cygames, they dont need a full trailer, they are the current most successful and most popular game company in Japan. This is just them showing the beginning works anyways

Oh man, I never thought I’d hear anything about this game again since it’s gameplay demo in 2018.
I don’t wanna keep my hopes up in fear that it’s vaporware since they still have GBF:Relink to finish first, and that game hasn’t had a release date since it’s announcement in 2018 as well.

Heh, this is Cygames we are talking about, the current most popular video game company in Japan, from Shadowverse to Princess Connect Re:Dive, to Pretty Derby, to Mysteria Friends, to Grand Blue Fastasy, also Zombieland Saga, Idolmaster, Dragon Quest, and now Project Awakening. This is a company who makes their own anime as their own studio, makes the top most successful mobile games of Japan, and now is moving onto full Console style games. Any one thinking this is gonna be a boring fantasy game made by some random american company is just a generic fake gamer who only plays trends and never does their company research.
