Iteria Games has released the debut trailer for its upcoming action survival horror game, Compound Fracture. Compound Fracture is basically a first-person game that is heavily inspired by the classic Capcom game, Dino Crisis.
In this game, players will fight dinosaurs. Players will have to investigate a heinous crime, as well as outwit and outgun the dinosaurs that now inhabit ChronoGas’s prehistoric compound.
As you will see from the trailer, its visuals are really similar to those of Dino Crisis. As the team has noted, the game will have a refined art style designed after the limitations of early console games.
My only gripe with this trailer is the dino AI (which appears to be pretty bad). My guess is that the game is in a really early development stage. Still, this is really up my alley so let’s hope that Iteria will overhaul the game’s AI.
Compound Fracture promises to feature a variety of weapons to use, levels to explore, and creatures to encounter.
Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!

Interesting…
John, you don’t understand. The weak AI is ALSO designed after the limitations of early console games.
Seriously, the low res low poly unfiltered PS1 art-style graphics is painful to watch these days. I would not be surprised if the games does poorly as a result of this. Imagine how awful it would look on a 1440p or 4k screen
just use FSR to make it 4k
“the game will have a refined art style designed after the limitations of early console games.”
Psx had a missing cheap because sony went cheap and the result was floating textures. This is not a good thing i hope you can turn the effects off like you can in graven with the 3dfx mode.
It’s designed that way for nostalga purposes.
Actually, it takes a great deal of effort and care to mimic the technical limitations of the playstation this well. I can see he’s using affine texture mapping, triangle sheering, integer 3D math, 16 bit colour, dithering, low-poly, nearest neighbour textures and the correct resolution.
each of these ‘features’ should be easy to turn on and off i guess, but then it’s charm is that it’s a boomer shooter emulating the psx style for people who want a dinosaur fps.
I love the look of it and will be happy to give it a go
What it was a limitation of the technology of the time, it became an “artstyle” in a world of 4k resolution, supersampling and raytracing. Hilarious, but it can work when is well done and not just a nostalgia trip bait. I would say Dusk does a good job at that for instance.
then you’re not the intended audience for this game. The people this game is aimed at are surely very keen based on the trailers. i know i am.
I wish they made a compromise. Make it retro style but not to the determent of fidelity.
