Electronic Arts and DICE have released the official reveal trailer for Battlefield 2042. This trailer showcases 5 minutes of action, though it does not pack any gameplay sequences.
Battlefield 2042 will introduce 7 vast maps for up to 128* players. From Seoul’s cities to Egypt’s deserts, every map promises to offer a unique experience based on the natural environment.
Players will be able to customize weapons, gadgets and vehicles in-battle to tip the scales in their favor. Additionally, they can summon a robotic dog built for battle, employ a grappling hook or don your very own wingsuit.
Moreover, players can choose their role on the battlefield and form hand-tailored squads through the new Specialist system. Based on Battlefield’s four Classes, Specialists have one unique Specialty and Trait – but the rest of the loadout is fully customizable.
Now what worries me here is that there isn’t any mention of a single-player campaign mode. There were some rumors suggesting that this new BF game would not have an SP mode. Furthermore, the game’s official press release does not mention any SP mode. EA describes Battlefield 2042 as a “groundbreaking first-person shooter set to revolutionize the modern multiplayer sandbox.” So yeah, things are not looking that good for all BF SP fans.
Battlefield 2042 will be using the Frostbite Engine and will release on October 22nd. You can also find the game’s first official screenshots here.

I feel like I’m really done with video games. I just can’t bring myself to like games even remotely anymore. games seem utterly tedious and uninteresting to me.
I know it’s hard since they have huge marketing campaigns, but stop looking at Silicon Valley controlled AAA space and look more in the middle market, tons of great stuff coming out there.

I really hope the current trend of psx-artstyle continues, because games like golden light look fantastic and it would help to balance that out.

There haven’t been many good games in several years, but there still are good games if you know to look for them.
XCOM 2 and Insurgency Sandstorm were good before updates but got progressively worse, though they can still be enjoyed with fanmade mods that do a much better job than the updates at actually improving the games.

I played a good chunk of it near release, beat the first couple bosses, and then it kinda just dawned on me that the game really doesn’t have that much more to explore.
No not anymore obviously, but I played 130 hours religiously when it came out and finished it.
Just waiting on more content to jump back in, I freakin love that game.

The graphics are good for a cross-gen game. Levolution -> giant tornado tearing down whole buildings. I’m not exactly hyped for another Battlefield 3 reskin but these criticisms seam weak.

The game wont look like the trailer, that was a glorified CGI video with the “in engine” excuse just to sell preorders.
And since they are aiming to a bigger scope with maps and player count, they will have to be conservative in the visuals anyways, thank you consoles again.

Crysis 3 is still miles ahead of the likes of BF2042. KZShadowfall had much better visuals when it came out. CODMW2019 is still better looking. before you start “laughing your ar*e off again”, we don’t know how destructibility works in the new BF but if it’s any like BF4 it will all be scripted to death with zero player agency with regard to Levolution

FB4 is a great engine I’m sure. but I am just as certain it is held back by the fact that it is only being used for MP and the devs are following in Ubisoft’s footsteps in downgrading visuals in order to capture a wider audience of casual gamers. SP was at least always a graphical showcase if not a proper campaign.
