Cloud Imperium Games and Firesprite publicly announced a collaboration on the forthcoming Star Citizen multiplayer mode, “Theaters of War” (working title). Star Citizen’s “Theaters of War” mode is a PvP multiplayer experience.
This mode features intense, large-scale, team-based skirmishes between attackers and defenders across multiple phases of combat on planetary surfaces, in upper atmosphere, and a final orbital assault on a space station.
Firesprite’s collaboration with CIG on Theaters of War began in early 2019, when CIG outlined the vision for a multiplayer combined-arms experience taking place within the Star Citizen universe. Since then, Firesprite and CIG have collaborated to design and build this experience utilizing Star Citizen’s proprietary technology, tools, and game assets. The combined learnings and advancements made for the combined-arms game mode have benefited and continue to benefit the core gameplay of both Star Citizen and Squadron 42.
Sean Tracy, Technical Director, Content at Cloud Imperium Games, said:
“Thanks to the talented team at Firesprite, we’ve managed to work closely together to bring significant improvements to Star Citizen’s Theaters of War mode, and as a result benefit key aspects of Star Citizen and Squadron 42. I can’t wait for players to see the progress we’ve made together during future playtests.”
Graeme Ankers, Managing Director at Firesprite, added:
“We’re so excited to be able to convey what a privilege and a pleasure it’s been to work so closely with Cloud Imperium and develop Theaters of War from the kernel of an idea into a full-fledged experience. I want to pay tribute to our strike team here at Firesprite who have worked really hard behind the scenes in close collaboration with the talented creators at Cloud Imperium Games.”
As the press release reads, player feedback from Theaters of War closed tests for select Star Citizen community groups has been vital for improving the combined arms mode’s quality. Further online closed community tests are scheduled to begin this coming weekend, with more playtests to come throughout the mode’s development. This combined arms mode will continue to see iteration and development to help progress Star Citizen’s and Squadron 42’s combat, and future tests will expand beyond the closed Evocati group to eventually include players in the Public Test Universe.

Server meshing needs to come.
Agree. It’s in the pipeline. Hopefully we’ll get it by end of the year.
it wont, hahaha
ps6 is out and star citizen still not out.
also Necromunda: Hired Gun got a trailer
At 23 fps ! On a RTX 3090 in 1080p at max settings !
Yeah ! High five with a chair in their face.
“Yeah ! High five with a chair in their face.”
??? I’m so gonna use this, thanks.
hey .. calm down man ..
they only had like 10 years and half a BILLION to make this . give them some more time … and money …. and more money …. and … more .. money …
LOL… I got more FPS with an intel I5 4cores + GTX1070 + SSD… full setting on a 1440p ultrawide.
Head to CIG page named ‘Telemetry” and you will see that real backers playing the game (not some random numbers from unverified source) get from 60 to 70FPS with 1440p and above.
No you aren’t. Straight up lying. Unless setting super low or something. My specs significantly better and I’m playing at the exact same resolution as you. 1440p ultrawide and I wasn’t getting more than 35 to 45 fps in the city. I don’t care what the fps is like in space where there is nothing around.
You’re a liar.
Shear, one of the historic hater of SC, explaining the telemetry showing real backers results is fake…
Again, my own rig: intel I5 4cores + GTX1070 + SSD… full setting on a 1440p ultra-wide. My FPS is fluctuating between 35 to 50 fps depending on location.
He could be right about the fps in the city thoo. That said if i were to judge a space game’s fps in a city rather than space and someone would call me dimwitted – They would be 100% correct!
Haters gonna hate, crybabies gonna cry – What’s new?
Hope the game take off thoo, got a free copy from an optane drive but start to have my doubts.
I don’t care what it’s showing. I have a beast of a pc and I couldn’t get more than 45 in a city. So you are lying.
The proof is I am not lying is in your own answer.
You said to get 45 fps in city, the most crowed area with the lowest fps in all Stanton System. This is perfectly in line with Telemetry average number.
So you don’t even understand what average means.
I still crashed twice in the 20 minutes I tried to play it. So it doesn’t matter. The game is a sh*t state.
Fine. Up to 30.000 daily backers, 100.000 during free event don’t agree with you.
Well that’s simply another lie. The people who like the game and play it don’t hide the fact that it crashes. A lot. So you’re lying some more. You can’t disagree with a fact.
You see lie everywhere Shear even where there are none.
Up to 30.000 play daily. Nobody said there are no crash, bugs or graphic glitch because this is indeed associated with the very nature of software and of course of an Alpha status.
So then why did you say 30k disagree with me when I said the game still crashed twice in the 20 mins for me?
Because I am talking about 30.000 players playing daily, despite random crash.
Nobody say there is no bugs but factually it does not stop 10K’s backers to play it.
Picking a double to summarize everyone else experience is not correct. Especially knowing you Shear have an history of substantial negativity (to be nice) toward the project.
Clearly you are not the type of guy that should join an alpha, none of them. Wait till further stability or full release, there is no shame to do so.
I don’t care how many people are playing daily I wasn’t talking about that at all. I am talking about the fact that I played for 20 mins and crashed twice in that time.
That’s a fact. The game is in terrible state. People who want to put up with it, cool, but it’s still in a terrible state.
Elite has 500k people logging into it every month.
Good for ED as I am one of their early backer but stop playing years ago.
500K per month… SC make 900K per month.
Again your experience do represent only one thing: You are not a guy that can stand game in alpha. No problem, others are enjoying it.
No it didn’t. There is 100k unique users in SC as per their own statistics that Chris Roberts himself talked about not that long ago. ED has 500k. Meaning ED is 5x as popular a game to play atm.
So you lied again.
So you don’t even know how to read correctly as you so much in your hater attitude since years…
Up to 100K is the number of dailyindividual players during free event, 30K out of free event… daily.
That said, as a space games fan I am happy we do have several type of experience through different games like Eve, NMS, Space Engineers, X4, ED, SC.
Throwing “you lie” at every sentence when facts demonstrate repeatedly the opposite does not help you much to solve your real issue: alpha is not for you. Stop hating a game, that will bring you nowhere.
Eh you’re just a liar.
I’m not hating. See that’s your problem. People point something out like terrible performance and constant crashes and you say that’s hating. That’s no hating. That’s just facts. Facts can’t be mean.
Your permanent drama comments is pathetic Shear. You are not an alpha player period and pretend nobody else can or have the same experience is selfish and rude to all others enjoying it.
You are a typical hater because you:
– Refuse to understand basic wording like alpha,
– Refuse to acknowledge others gameplay satisfactory experience (within alpha context),
– You pretend someone say that up to 30.000 backers do not encounter bugs or performance issue while it was never said.
You hate because you are unable to learn what alpha means, you can’t read others comments without throwing an out of context “liar!” comment, you can’t accept you should not play games in alpha…
Again you will go nowhere with such attitude. It deserves yourself nor impact in any way the meaning of backers supporting crowdfunded project: pledge to get the product they are looking for.
I did try alpha when it was a free flight week or whatever and it ran like crap and it crashed. So it’s a terrible experience for me.
I don’t have a problem with other people enjoying subpar performance and dealing with crashes, not my business.
You are a liar. You lie a lot.
I’ve already made it pretty good in life with my attitude. You will never make anything out of yourself because you are a liar.
How to spot a Shear in a comment section… search for “you are a liar” 🙂
How to spot Joe Blobers in a comment section… Look for the guy who lies a lot.
Except readers are not stupid and can segregate lie vs facts.
Today up to 30.000 individual players join the verse, like every single day… 🙂
Yep they are playing the game. That runs extremely poorly and crashes a lot. With an abundance of bugs like falling through elevators and the likes. All facts.
True. Nobody said there are no bugs. Still up to 30.000 backers play daily because they enjoy it, not because they crash in loop every 10 minutes.
Yeah that’s fine I’m not sure why you’re bringing that up. People can play what they enjoy. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s in a terrible state. Crashes. Bugs out a lot. and after this many years of development has very little content.
But look. People like what they like.
What game are you playing? My 2080Ti at 3440×1440 max settings plays just fine…nearly constant 60fps+. I don’t get how these memes continue despite being outdated af. It’s like you people just HAVE to hate the game.
That is 100% a lie. I have a 3080 with 5950x, 32 gigs of ram and an ssd and I was getting 35 to 45 fps in the city. Never hit 60. Downloaded the game during the free flight event.
So you’re just straight up lying.
60fps are not in city obviously… Everybody have a FPS drop in city at the moment, simply because game optimization is the latest thing done in gaming production, with a difference: SC have to let backers play the game so 35/45 is largely acceptable even if not perfect.

Thought that SC supposed to be a multiplayer game through and through, not some separate two modes.
Next they will collaborate with israel to bring us a new
scammode where they just siphon funds directly from everyone’s tax payments. The 4000 series cards will be available to scalpers before this game is released.
they will release the game after we are already in another world i guess.
