KOEI Tecmo has just released Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy on the PC and as we have predicted, the game suffers from some issues on our platform.
Let’s start with some good news though. Contrary to the first Atelier Ryza, Atelier Ryza 2 finally displays proper keyboard and mouse icons. Furthermore, PC gamers can navigate the menus with the mouse.
Unfortunately, though, the game currently suffers from some awful stuttering issues. Every two seconds, the game stutters, no matter what your framerate is. This issue was also present in the original game, though you could resolve it by simply connecting a gamepad to the PC. We haven’t tried this workaround yet in Atelier Ryza 2, however, this is truly unacceptable. Seriously, we’ve already reported on this bug, and both KOEI Tecmo and GUST Studios should have been aware of it.
Additionally, the game suffers from some awful mouse controls. Instead of offering raw mouse input, the game tries to emulate the sticks of a gamepad. Furthermore, there are some awful mouse dead zone issues, meaning that your camera won’t move when you slowly move your mouse.
It’s also worth noting that the game’s Steam store page does not recommend a gamepad. However, and even if it did, it’s inexcusable to release a PC game in 2021 with these mouse controls. This is a third-person game and the Keyboard & Mouse controls work wonderfully in such games. For example, Yakuza: Like a Dragon plays great with mouse and keyboard. So yeah, there is no excuse for such a thing.
Due to these issues, the game is simply unplayable on the PC unless you use a gamepad. So here is hoping that GUST Studios will fix them via a post-launch update!

Dumb fxcking eastern devs. But everyone should have seen it coming since it’s KOEI Tecmo. Nioh 2 is probably going to be a shxthole of a port too.
Nioh: Complete Edition on PC currently has an issue where moving the right analogue stick in a circle you’ll notice that as it gets angled diagonally the camera movement speed slows down while angling it towards a cardinal direction speeds up the camera movement.
Another words the camera is god awful to control.
