Frontier Developments was originally planning to release Elite Dangerous: Odyssey in early 2021. However, the team has just announced that this expansion has been delayed until Spring 2021.
According to Frontier, the Alpha phase for Elite Dangerous: Odyssey will begin in early Spring 2021. Following the completion of this Alpha phase, the team targets a full launch on PC in late Spring.
The reason for this delay is quite obvious. Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the renewed lockdowns in 2021, the team had no choice but to delay the expansion.
As we’ve already reported, Elite Dangerous Odyssey will allow players to touch down on countless new planets. Frontier claimed that the game will be using stunning new tech. Furthermore, it will allow players to explore with unrestricted freedom from a first person, feet-on-the-ground perspective.
Odyssey’s emergent gameplay will let players forge their own path through a wide variety of missions. These missions will range from diplomacy and commerce to lethal stealth and all-out combat. The game will also feature diverse settings, objectives, and NPCs, offering a mission variety.

They shoud first fix the main game…..
elaborate, no seriously i was thinking about going back to it so is there something i dont know?
It’s pretty much the same game it was, so all existing critiques about the Horizon’s Expansion and everything surrounding the game still exist. If you never played Horizon’s, than it’s the same stuff that existing for base ED, but with an extra horrendous Grind ontop of it to unlock Engineers.
Other than that, still an “MMO”, still not much to do in game other than explore, fight, or trade; still no real community features in terms of guilds, or alliances; and it’s still very much so lacking in depth.
Oh no, we have another Scam Citizen here!

Maybe I’m out of the loop here but is there a reason people expect Star Citizen to be completely finished already doing everything it’s setting out to do when we have Elite Dangerous here that hasn’t even added their FPS module yet despite being released nearly as long as Star Citizen has been in development?
Yes, you’re out of the loop.
Well that’s a useless comment. Thanks for explaining it to me.
SC and ED:Odissey might seem like similar experiences but they barely overlap. SC has much more profound and elaborated gameplay with larger worlds and a vast collection of ships and land rovers/hover bikes to fly. SC is generally more engaging and immersive than ED.
In fact it’s not uncommon to find ED players have a tough time returning to ED once they try SC: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/my-thoughts-on-odyssey-vs-star-citizen-more-of-an-experience-than-a-game-also-add-random-failures-please.559870/
scam citizen and elite dangerous completely different.
In the UK we are in the third lock down that is quite stringent. No wonder this was delayed.
