Plausible Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer details leaked by dataminers

It appears that the first details for Cyberpunk 2077’s upcoming multiplayer game have been leaked via dataminers. The following information is from the game’s executable file, so this is the real deal. Everyone can access it, and we can confirm that what you are about to read is legit. However, do note that things may change as Cyberpunk 2077’s MP won’t be coming out anytime soon.

Our source wanted to stay anonymous, so we’ll respect his/her decision. Still, you can easily verify the following information yourselves by examining the game’s executable file.

The game’s executable file so far has two distinct MP game modes. The first one is called Heists, whereas the second one is a simple deathmatch. The Heists mode seems to function closer to standard single-player quest, along with dedicated functions with editor helper descriptions such as:

  • Set Heist State
  • Set spawn point tag that will be used to spawn new players during the mission
  • Spawn tag: %s

Here are also some additional related functions.

Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Heists Functions
  • MP.Heist.DebugMessageNameChanged
  • MP.Heist.MessagePlayerReady
  • MP.Heist.SetPlayerCharacterClass (may imply multiplayer is focused on more strict character class selection system)MP_PlayerReady

Regarding the deathmatch mode, here are some of its functions:

  • ++ %s joined the match
  • >> %s killed %s
  • You sent yourself directly to hell! Please don’t come back
  • Wow! You killed yourself… Bravo.

Furthermore, the game MAY rely on P2P connections, and MAY not have dedicated servers. Going by the scraps, it seems that the game targets purely Peer 2 Peer connections with some host authority. Again, things may change. We are not saying that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t have dedicated servers. However, the executable file currently hints at P2P connections.

CD Projekt RED is currently working on the first free DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 that will come out in early 2021. The team also debunked the recent rumors about development troubles with the game’s post-launch support.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. Are the gun fights even good? What’s the point of wasting resources on MP when most people that bought it are playing it for the (boring) narrative.

    1. What’s trigger me the most when they showed it for streamer or youtuber only and start talking how amazing the game is, and it end up being good game not groundbreaking or amazing just good

    2. I like the game a lot, and I think the gunplay works fine for a single player game, but I don’t know how it would translate well to a multiplayer game as it currently is.

    3. Is serviceable…like most things in this game. For a first take on a FPS from them is pretty good, some animations mostly…(the melee is awful, impressive how after 3 games and experience with swords, they managed to make it crappy) they should worry about finishing the single player game first tho…

        1. I wouldnt be surprise if they outsource the multiplayer mode…(they have their hands full trying to fix this thing) just like what happened with RE3 Remake.

      1. to be fair the main campaign barely even has any combat, so much dialogue, why even make such a looting system when all you do is watch cutscenes with dialogues?

    4. Enemy AI is pretty bad, actually. Or maybe just lacking in “AI”. I thought the writing is passable but definitely not enough of it, and have to agree they spent way too much time/money on actors and building the atmosphere… just too bad it’s empty and broken.

    5. Gunplay sucks bollocks, movement is sluggish and unresponsive. Guns are crap from design standpoint and look like one another with different diversity skins all over them. Animations when you first equip a new weapon are neat but overall gunplay is crap.

    6. The abilities in Borderlands alone, having more impact with every upgrade, do a better job in comparison with CP77.
The gunplay is more or less the same, the animations are better in Cyberpunk (reminds me a lot of some animations from Far Cry Blood Dragon). The AI for the enemies in Borderlands is better (and they were pretty stupid)

    1. Also consider that they had Fallout 4 as a base for making 76…CDPR doesnt have any experience on this kind of game, let alone multiplayer.
      Trainwreck incoming hard.

  2. I just read an article about about a Polish Regulator investigating CDPR over Cyberpunk 2077

They could end up with a large fine over this. In addition the Polish government gives money to CDPR. This could end up very expensive for CDPR.

      1. I don’t know a lot about law but they could face class action lawsuits over the game as well, Seems to be more of a problem for the console gamers. One guy reported that there was 50% chance of the game crashing at loading screens. How could CDPR have missed that before releasing the game.

I would like to see this cost CDPR and send out a warning to other Publishers to do more to fix games before releasing.

  3. EA Games “Games as a Service” or the “ROCKSTAR GAMES-ification” plan of Multiplayer Fragmentation in videogames.

example: 343 Industries with HALO 5 – 10 Years Plan.

  4. The argumentation is absolutely on point. They actually have hired Digital Spaces ex-employees known for the famous Mass Effect: Andromeda, a huge success in the gaming community… They did a “butt-load” of “preferential policy” hiring, virtue signalling as marketing campaigns, and let go their most valuable assets (Veteran Writer & Coders, & Designers behind Witcher games, who either joined other studios or made their own).
Political Correctness Management + Censorship = Tyranny to Creative people.

2017-2018: Senior Developers of Witcher games leave company. Mateusz Piaskiewicz – Lead Level Designer; Derek Patterson – Senior Gameplay Producer ; Ovidiu Traian Vasilescu – Project Manager + ex-game designer at Ubisoft ; Michal Stec – Senior Art Producer at TW3.
2019: Kyle Rowley leaves CDPR; rejoins RemedyGames in Finland.
2019: Sebastian Stepien, co-writer and story designer for the Witcher series and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, left CD Projekt RED. Sebastian Stepien (worked on dialogs and story in all installments of The Witcher series. In recent years, he was one of the key figures in the team developing Cyberpunk 2077)
    – CEO Marcin Iwinski “The Rockstar model is nice” aka “Games as a Service instead of product” policy (multiplayer microtransaction)…
    – They almost tried to sell the company back in 2015-2016.

True equality means equality of opportunity, not outcome. Everybody should have the right to put their hand up for a job, but they should be judged on merit, not the trendy Radical Left-winged cause of the day. There’s a massive competitive advantage to be gained by hiring on merit, not diversity.

    1. “There’s a massive competitive advantage to be gained by hiring on merit, not diversity”

There maybe a surplus in non-diverse talent, but the problem is they all end up starting their own studios or joining small indie teams. I’d prefer good AAA games as opposed to good indie games.

          1. I know what it means, the budget of a game doesnt garanty quality. Cyberpunk 77 is a good example of this

          2. Having a small budget does guarantee you’re not going to have big production value though. Imagine Rockstar trying to make RDR2 with an indie team. It just wouldn’t exist.

What I’m saying is I want good developers working on AAA games like we had throughout 2004-2012, before the diversity hires and endless reskins.

          3. Wellp, at some point Rockstar did make GTA 1 in a smaller budget than 5 obviously…my point is that the talent is key to a good game, budget just gives you a frame for limitations that you have to figure out. “art from adversity” or something like that, something that pushes you to be creative and smart.

          4. Sure, what I’m saying is I want the big budgets to go to the real talent so we can get good AAA games like Doom 2016. Otherwise we’re stuck with indie games with “art from adversity” like Hades. I’d rather have Hades in the God of War engine.

    2. CEO Marcin Iwinski “The Rockstar model is nice” aka “Games as a Service instead of product”

      quote mining…

      Here’s the actual context.

“The Witcher finished with 80 people, The Witcher 3 finished with 250, so Cyberpunk will probably be even more. Don’t think about scale in terms of us doing 20 projects; no, we’ll focus, we’ll focus on certain things… We don’t want to be a 10 project studio. The Rockstar model is nice.”

“If we look at our role models, what Rockstar is doing is amazing. It’s not like, ‘We have to ship a game or we may not hit our financial goals.’ It’s, ‘Here’s GTA V, and by the way, it’s the best game ever made.”

Makes me wonder what else in that long list of point is misrepresented or taken out of context or overexaggerated.

      1. How’s that a misrepresentation or exageration? just by looking at the last two games from Rockstar, and their focus on GASS…then you have the CEO of CDPR liking that aproach (the delusion is huge, since CDPR is not even close to what Rockstar is) ? 1+1 = 2
Not that hard to read the underlines.

  5. I think most just wanted co-op.

I don’t see MP being that good since the movement isn’t fluid and the gunplay is mediocre.
