Devolver has announced the acquisition of Croteam, developers of the Serious Sam series. According to the publisher, Croteam will keep total creative freedom and Devolver Digital gets to publish its games.
Furthermore, Devolver has revealed some new games that will be coming from Croteam. As Devolver noted, Croteam will be working on The Talos Principles 2, new Serious Sam games, and original IP titles.
Here is hoping that this acquisition will give Croteam the funds to create more polished products. While Serious Sam 4 is a fan game, it had some awful optimization issues on the PC at launch. Moreover, its graphics weren’t that great by today’s standards. Ironically, the first Serious Sam titles were among the most beautiful PC games when they came out.

How is Serious Sam 4 a “fan game”?
The fans would have made it more serious sam, this game wants to be doom 2016 so badly.
I think they should’ve just migrated to Unreal instead of sticking with their own engine. 2 was fine, but their art style started to suffer from 3.
Agree. They just don’t have the funding and manpower to be sticking to their own engine. It was a great engine back in the day but they can’t keep up.
Hope Coreteam get better funding for Serious Sam 5
If they gets 10 bucks, that’s already better funding
“Croteam will be working on The Talos Principles 2”
is that really necessary? Its onse of the best games i ever played by why make as sequel?
“MONEY”
Ohh, no if you make a sequel it’s going to make the first one worse. Give me a break.
sequel to what? The story is done.
sam fits somehow into DD
Didnt they completely blow the 4?
FUN game not “fan” game!
It’s about damn time. They should’ve done the same for wild hogs before someone else has snatched them up.
Look at Serious Sam 4 and look at Shadow Warrior 3. Flying Wild Hog would be no doubt much more expensive. You get what you pay for
Haha, that’s cold man. Don’t be so hard on them.
I love Croteam but yeah, I get what you mean.
Flying Wild Hogs games seem to be getting better while Croteams…
I wish they went for Hard Reset 2 with a new engine, fluid and fast movement (unlike the original).
Absolutely not bad news, Devolver is a great publisher, and from the look of it, SS4 suffered a lot and will need better funding for a good sequel
Nice, they have a long history of collaboration.
I don’t know how to feel about this. Since devolver is a tad bit woke…
