PAYDAY 3 will be using Unreal Engine, gets first screenshot

Back in October 2019, we informed you about the third part in the PAYDAY series, PAYDAY 3. And yesterday, its official Twitter account has shared the first screenshot from it. Furthermore, its development team confirmed that the game will be using Unreal Engine.

PAYDAY 3 is currently in a design phase, and there is no ETA on when it will come out. In October 2019, Starbreeze claimed that it was planning to release the game in 2022/2023. Thus, we can safely assume that PAYDAY 3 will be a next-gen game. Whether it will be using Unreal Engine 4 or Unreal Engine 5 remains a mystery at this point.

Unfortunately, there is nothing more to share. We’ve included the game’s first official screenshot below (so that you can view it without visiting Twitter).

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. True that. I enjoyed FEAR 3 and RE5 playing with a friend and i don’t have many good things to say about any of those two games.

    1. It’s the character called Bain, and he’s a man with long hair, not woman. He’s the one operating the whole Payday gang, narrating the game, the infamous “Guys, the thermal drill, go get it” guy.

    2. I have heard startling rumors that Tomb Raider games will now feature a woman as the main character and even more terrifying is that Wonder Woman will now be portrayed as a female in games and movies. When will this madness end?

      ; )

  1. John i think you should check about the reports of flight simulator 2020 latest patch downgrading ultra settings affecting water reflections and anti aliasing, might be a bug but people are suspecting they are pushing visual parity due to the upcoming xbox release.

    1. Isn’t that how it usually goes? I remember Dying Light devs saying that they once downgraded the highest settings to “fix” performance issues and people were thankful and glad and apparently didn’t even notice the downgrade.

      1. yea the draw distance slider they lowered the values and even at max settings it does not equal the first version with the distance slider at max.
slider at max equal to pre 1.2 version 65% not a huge loss because you can still restore the original view values in the ini file but expect the game to run almost 2X slower(if you get 60fps you will drop to around mid 40fps)

  2. Most of the Overkill team has been gone for years and Starbreeze has no cash, expect nothing but trash.

  3. Two things are written in stone, is gonna run like garbage and sucking epic exlusivity.
Well may be 3 things, is gonna be huge and mediocre.

    1. so you are afraid they actually make good graphics and THEN f*k it up?

No, i am not. Only insanes are afraid of some developer doing something with a game. As for the graphics, i’ll hold my LoLs and see what they do.

you think they are so incompetent it will run worse?

Yes, plus the engine itself makes it easier for them to be.

Now i ask you, name 5 great optimzed shooters made in UE4.
