Mafia Definitive Edition looks beautiful on the PC in 4K/Max Settings

2K Games has released the highly anticipated remake of the first Mafia game, Mafia Definitive Edition on the PC. As such, we’ve decided to capture and share some 4K/Max Settings screenshots from it.

In order to capture the following screenshots, we used an Intel i9 9900K with 16GB of DDR4 at 3600Mhz. Naturally, we’ve paired this machine with an NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti. We also used Windows 10 64-bit and the latest version of the GeForce drivers. We’ve also included MSI Afterburner in our screenshots in order to give you an idea of the in-game performance.

Mafia Definitive Edition looks as good as most modern-day titles. The game packs an amazing global illumination solution, as well as some incredible 3D models. Hangar 13 has also implemented some great textures, despite the fact that these textures do not require more than 4GB of VRAM in 4K.

In 4K/Max Settings, our NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti came close to a 60fps experience. In the first three missions, our minimum framerate was 55fps and our average framerate was 58fps. So, for those owning this GPU, we suggest running the game at 3328×1872. We’ll talk more about the game’s performance in our upcoming PC Performance Analysis, so stay tuned for more.

Enjoy!

    1. watched 4 hours of it, it seems it has no pozz in it. But i gotta ask is there anything extra or its mission after mission? Seems like a waste making this city with no exploration.

      1. That sounds encouraging. Did they not make Sarah ‘stunning and brave’ then? The dev previously stated “In the original, Sarah… doesn’t get very much screen time. We wanted her to appear more often…” so due to Hangar 13 being epic SJWs people were naturally concerned.

        1. no you protect her from rapist thugs and at some point the accountant with the glasses tells you a story about a dog he had that was winning races and then it went about town and every dog took turns and it got pregnant and the don tried to kill it, so dont go around showing off you got money because you are useless to the mob if you get fcked like the dog.

          its pretty hardcore.

          1. Sweet. I may pick it up in a future sale after having just viewed Worthabuy’s recent video on the game.

      2. Mafia is mission centric, there is a seperate game mode for just exploration if you want to just drive around the city and mess about.
Dont expect this to be like other open world games, you dont explore during missions, neither are there side quests etc.

  1. The reviews for the game are out and most reviewers are not happy with the changes made to the story and ending but praised the graphics and art style.

        1. Even the remaster of Mafia 2 is running on the Mafia 3 engine. That version was bugged as hell, there are tons of videos out there.
It seems like Hangar 13’s mission is to destroy the franchise. They couldn’t let the best game (Mafia 1) alone, they had to remake it and rewrite the story for a new audience.

          1. funny you mentioned it. Mafia 2 story was not what it was the mafia 1 story writers intent, after a certain mission 2k changed the story. So mafia 2 is not cannon.

That being said this remaster is free of pozz.

          2. These games are their own entities in a sense. The last game don’t have a major impact on any new games in the series. Each game have a different protagonist and the mafia pc is just hanging around washed up in 3

          3. Original Mafia 2 was cut, many cut content… some main people involved in developement of Mafia 2 left the company because they were pissed of. They (2K) just wanted to rush the game and release it, but people who built the game didnt like that.

    1. I get between 60-70 fps on a 2080 Super and a 9700k at QHD on Mafia 3, have upgraded to 10700k recently and Mafia Definitive is running at 99 fps most of the time, so seems to be better optimized.

          1. Thanks!
Looks to be well optimized. Thats really important for someone who has a 1440p 144Hz screen with an rx 570 lol

    1. Well no sh*t. The PC version you’re comparing it to came out in 2002. You have to compare it to the one that just came out

  2. I like the fact they added the classic difficulty setting being closer to how the original mafia played(reloading clips before completely emptying them makes you lose the remaining bullets, you have to respect to speed limits and signal lights when cops are near etc…)

    1. Look on Youtube: Mafia Aplha by Daniel Vavra etc. Even the original Mafia was cut…… it could be even a much better/bigger game than it actually was.

  3. I am really enjoying the game. It’s really well done. Glad I bought it. Playing on a Titan XP @1440p / i7 8086k @5ghz and everything maxed out. Runs perfect. I get 60fps with vsync on. If I take vsync off it shoots up to 90/100fps but I get some annoying screen tearing. So 60fps vsync it is.

FIXED!! Turned off the .exe full screen optimizations. Got higher frames with VSYNC on now!!

      1. He said he caps the frame rate because the screen tearing is awful and I agree with him. You either have 144Hz monitor or more or Vsync on 60 Hz for best experience. 60Hz monitor and 120+ FPS is pointless with bad experience….

Maybe he plans to buy a 144Hz monitor…..

        1. I do have a 144hz monitor. The game just caps itself at 60hz for some reason with vsync on…. FIXED!! Turned off the .exe full screen optimizations. Got higher frames with VSYNC on now!!

      2. I do have a 144hz monitor. The game just caps itself at 60fps for some reason with vsync on. Which I don’t mind. The screen tearing is bad with it off

FIXED!! Turned off the .exe full screen optimizations. Got higher frames with VSYNC on now!!

      1. Stop, that’s a piss poor excuse for developers to be lazy asf when it comes to pc, overwhelming majority also have potatoes PC’s so should they make game only run on crap pcs no and no, there’s tons of monitors that least support hdr 400 now and lot like myself have lg oleds with hdr gsync,it’s just bullshit and the bullshit gonna show more and more when these monster consoles release and every game has hdr raytracing etc, just one more reason pc gaming is behind

        1. Cool down bro, that came out of nowhere lol! Don’t buy the game if they don’t support your criteria for an optimal gaming experience.

        2. it’s not an excuse, it’s a simple cost/benefit decision. In their minds, not enough people have hdr, so they dont implement it.
