New DIRT 5 gameplay trailer showcases its dynamic weather system

Codemasters and Deep Silver have recently released a new gameplay trailer for DIRT 5. This gameplay showcases super-light machines barrelling through a gorgeous recreation of Morocco and battling through an ever-approaching sandstorm that engulfs the circuit mid-race.

Available across multiple locations in the game, Land Rush events in DIRT 5 like this Moroccan race bring off-road terrain and extreme routes for rough-and-ready cars, testing the versatility of drivers eager to make a name for themselves.

DIRT 5 Development Director Robert Karp said:

โ€œNothing demonstrates our dynamic weather better than a Morocco sand-storm. Being visually impaired and battling the elements means players must retain focused if theyโ€™re to taste victory.”

DIRT 5 is coming to the PC on November 6th. You can also find the game’s official PC system requirements here.

Enjoy!

  1. Will it be like Forza Horizon where things change unrealistically fast? Like a blizzard coming and going during a 3 minute race or the sun rising or setting super fast for dramatic visual effect lol

  2. Not even close to what we saw in Mad Max, the game is far from being perfect, but it had the best sand-storms i saw in a video game ever

        1. Nope…. downgrades after downgrades (when it comes to AI, Physics, destructible environment, nVIdia physics effects etc.) Even some new remasters of older games prove that….

I just hate them for only pushing graphics instead of everything which defines a friking modern game.

          1. The key word is “normally” Anyway i agree for everything expect for Nvidia PhysX which are just some gimmicky cool effects that never ran great whatever the hardware you use, not to mention the fact it ruins the artistic consistance of many games. 1st party particle/physics technologies are more efficient for a mainstream usage, just look at BF games and Control, they have awesome destructibility with a minimal performance impact and without being tied to a specific hardware

      1. How do you know ? DiRT 5 isn’t even released yet, and Max Max is probably one of the most optimized games of the decade, just saying, it runs way better than DiRT 4 if we can really compare them.
Not to sound like a total d*ck but are a compulsive contrarian ?

        1. All dirt games run at 60fps and the developers confirmed this one would too.
Mad max ran ok on consoles, had some drops. Digital Foundry covered it and it drops below 30. That’s not better than dirt at 60.
Posting documented facts isn’t being contrary, it’s just correcting misinformation and should be applauded. Accuracy and validity are very important.

          1. I do, because I would rather play this title on my 55″ OLED at 120hz than at my computer.
Shooters, I play on my PC with a keyboard. This i want to sit back and enjoy my surround sound.
Better tool for the job now that the consoles won’t suck. Previously I would have played it on my PC but the equation shifted a bit, at least for now. PC will pull already again over time.

          2. Yeah like we’re back to 2005 where TVs were a pain in the a*s to plug on a PC, C’mon… Give your OLED 120hz some justice and plug it to your PC where the 120hz are at home, you can sit back and enjoy it too, and with actual 120 fps if your PC isn’t a potato

          3. Considered that but it’s in a different room. I have moved it temporarily to try it and it was pretty legit but HDMI 2.1 still has some issues with modern GPUs. Doesn’t work great yet.

          4. Get a DP cable, to be honest this generation made multiplatform games on console irrelevant if you have a PC, in the last gen you can at least get exclusive local coop on console sometimes and some 3rd party exclusive games, but now it’s just an inferior way to experience a game, with the exception of 1st party exclusive games everything’s better on PC, even with choppy ports

          5. “All dirt games run at 60fps and the developers confirmed this one would too.”

So the devs confirmed that the game cannot run 60FPS+?

            “Posting
            documented facts isn’t being contrary”

So 60FPS no more dev confirmed?

          6. 60fps was the minimum even on base consoles. They actually confirmed a 120 mode for next gen consoles. Even the s.

    1. Sega Rally Revo, released not long after, did a much better job at terrain deformation as caused by the vehicles in the races.

        1. The dev is targetting 120fps for this game on PS5/XSX so I’m expecting some noticeable sacrifices (geometry complexity, etc) that’ll likely crossover to the PC version.

          1. I wouldnt call next gen consoles (Series X and PS5) “weak” just yet….. I mean, for the first time they have huge improvements in the CPU department (compare that to Jaguar, its laughable…. its a huge upgrade) and even the GPU is okay. The CPUs on Xbox One and PS4 at launch were already weak ofc compared to CPU mid-high end CPUs and up but this time its much better.

I see no real reason for no destrucible environment in new games, better physics etc. if games 5-15 years old already did that.

        1. The game ran like garbage on both PC and consoles and had terrible pop-in due to the short draw distance but its GeoDeformation engine nevertheless sure looked good for said real-time deformation effects.

A cracked version can still be sourced or try Sega Rally Online Arcade via RPCS3 or Xenia if you’re interested.

  3. Cant wait as Dirt serie is the only racing games I play these days. Heres hoping it’s like Dirt 4 – an all time favourite!

  4. And yet Sega Rally Revo from 2007 has still the better terrain/surface, it kinda reminds me of that game but this is basically just about graphics where Sega Rally Revo had real time deformation surfaces which in FACT impact the handling of the cars and that game is not even a simulation car game.

    1. Racing games have a fun way of evolution.
They remove things that makes difference to put in some things that no one would want or notice.

      1. Some effects are cool in new games…. but damn, we also want physics/AI/destructible environment, not just “dumbed down” games.

Look what happend after Bad Company 2 and similar games….. basically downgrading newer games. They just push the graphics (sometimes they are bad even at that alone).

BTW NFS Pro Street had also interesting smoke effects (they even released a trailer just for that).
