Yesterday, Microsoft and 343 Industries showcased a single-player campaign demo for Halo: Infinite. This new Halo game will be coming out on Xbox One, PC and Xbox Series X. And, with Xbox Series X right around the corner, you’d expect 343 Industries to showcase the game on this new console. However, the developers have confirmed that this demo was running on the PC and not on Xbox Series X.
As a 343 developer said during a Q&A session.
“The game was captured from a PC that is representative of the experience that players will have on Xbox Series X.”
Xbox Series X will come out in Holiday 2020 and Halo: Infinite will be a launch title. Thus, you’d expect 343 Industries to show off the power of this new console. Instead, the team has done what most studios do during their E3 shows; show the game running on the PC.
To be honest, I wasn’t really impressed by the single-player demo of Halo: Infinite. The lighting system was not that great and there were A LOT of pop-ins. Generally speaking, everything looked like what you’d expect to see from a current-gen game. Yes, Halo: Infinite will be a cross-generation game. However, it lacked that “wow” effect.
Halo: Infinite will be using a new engine, the Slipspace Engine, and 343 Industries has developed it with the PC platform in mind. Moreover, the team aims to treat PC gamers as first-class citizens. It’s also worth noting that the first in-engine trailer for Halo: Infinite, that came out in 2019, was also running on the PC.
Halo Infinite will give players more freedom than ever before to explore a sprawling Halo ring. This demo shows off just a small section of the open and expansive world 343 has crafted. The scale of the environment accessible to players is several times larger than that of the last two Halo games combined. The game will also have hidden rewards. Players will be also able to assault Banished fortifications in brand new ways.
Lastly, I’ve embedded the single-player demo video below in case you haven’t seen it.
Enjoy!

LOL there’s an understatement.
Unreal Engine 5 will make this game look so dated.
60fps + open world though. Not easy to pull off especially when you have to make sure your game runs on base Xbox One.
I’m not happy about it but I understand why it looks the way it does.
Unfortunate really. This should have been a Series X + high-end PC SSD exclusive.
Modern Warfare’s Warzone map looks better than this, and it runs at 60 fps on base current gen consoles.
Or Destiny 2 which just on graphics alone puts this game to shame.
So basically they have to scale down the graphics because of Xbox One?
It seems to me if you buy a series x console you are just buying an xbox one that can run at 60 fps for two years.
It has been the same problem for the Xbox One X, enhanced games are now rare and games are geared to the standard crap console. This is why it is not good having multiple consoles.
This game already looks worse than most 2013 titles.
I have to see a game using it yet to judge first, a bullsh*t tech demo is not enough.
your fake news are getting worst
It is more then just the art style that is the issue though. People like NXGamer are calling them out on this not being an all new engine, and it is not even an major over hall of the previous engine either. Here watch his video, he clearly points out the issues with the engine itself.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByigSo3Esuc
Skip to 3:00m in the video if you want to skip to the Halo stuff.
Even the in engine trailer they showed last year is false, this new demo features no moving foliage like their was in last years trailer. So it is as flat and static as ever, no movement for the foliage. And there are other downgrades from the previous in engine trailer as well.
Not to mention the numerous issues and even regressions compared to previous Halo games graphics (on a technical front as well, not only an art issue). Watch the video, Halo Infinite is exceedingly disappointing on all technical fronts, it is an actual regression in areas.
The video goes through each and every issue with engine, and it is not a brand new engine by any means. As he says, they announced it as a brand new engine, but the evidence overwhelmingly shows otherwise, it is the old engine and they are trying to update it, and the are not succeeding at it for whatever reasons (cross gen is likely a big reason though).
At the end of the day, the engine is also a massive issue, not the art style alone. The art is an issue and also needs to be updated, but the whole engine is incredibly lacking, it is not next gen by any means, it is dated. And it being 4k or open world or 60fps nor anything like that is the issue either, all of those can be achieved with much better graphics, especially on such a powerful console as the Series X undoubtedly is. Series X has incredibly decent specs, so it is not being shown to its full potential in this instance, and it has plenty in reserve I think (and so does PC).
But it is a “game as a service”, so hopefully they can fix it as time moves on, but this is very disappointing for a supposed new engine. It is disappointing they have not delivered what they promised with a brand new or highly upgraded engine. But maybe time is also an issue for them, maybe Microsoft is leaning on them to make it ready for a launch title, and I think Microsofts cross gen demands are also having an affect on its current state as well.
And I am not just hating on the game and I am not trying to be nasty,so please don’t take me that way. I have been with the franchise since the beginning, so this is tough love on my part, I want them to get it up to the level it actually deserves to be, to the level we deserve as longstanding players of the franchise. And if that means that Microsoft needs to give them more leeway/time (and even more money and team members) to get it right, then that is what needs to happen.
Doesnt matter, still ugly
Sure it wasn’t on XBox 360?
All things were good except IQ, something that you can fix on 4K with better texture packs no big deal
The whole game looks like fortnite 2.0, halo 3 and 4 looks a lot better on my xbox 360 lol
Looks bad no matter where you play it. Plus love how sony and microsoft doesnt even trust their own machines for the demo’s lol so pathetic.

i love how ppl will never forget this 😀
This still kills me whenever I see it, I laugh for a whole 30 seconds
Everything about the 8th Generation of consoles was absolutely pathetic and 9th Generation is looking to be even worse.
It’s just sad
LOL
I wouldn’t say it looks bad. It looks disappointing, sure. But at least it’s at 60fps. For an open world on a console, that’s appreciable. Assume the sx certain actually holds 60fps. It’s also worth considering this is cross gen.
All of Sony games looked much better, but were generally at 30fps which is disappointing.
Well I don’t think they convinced anyone to buy a series X new console with that pathetic showcase.
It succeeded in selling game pass subscriptions. Why buy the game or the console when you can pay $1-$14 to play this 360 Halo game with a grappling hook?
Agree Graphics Doesn’t look that great but one thing looks absolutely great is the visual particle effects + the particle effects colors looks great
Particles in that demo showcase looked like trash…
They have time to address the graphics if the core gameplay is almost done. This will definitely be held back by vanilla xbox one. Also, all of you asked for splitscreen and the “old halo” , this is what you get
Entirely not the point lol, first of all split screen is a feature not something that goes along with graphics. Second of all no shiet people want Halo, but that doesnt mean it has to look like xbox 360 fortnite version. Clearly studio has lost their touch with the franchise.
“first of all split screen is a feature not something that goes along with graphics”
Yeah you have no idea what you’re talking about. Performance
I dont have idea what I m talking ?? Dude the whole performance for the new consoles is a breeze lol, its not 2010, Focking xbox 360 could use split screen but xbox series x wont ? The fact you even mentioned splitscreen=performance shows how incompetent you really are. Even xbox one has like what 40 xbox 360 power ??? thing before you write ??
Split screen is missing not cause any performance issues “AT ALL” but because multiplayer became the main aspect, so the idea of the split screen was pushed out, it has nothing to do with performance at all.
More info came out after I posted this. Started off as UE4 game, open world wouldn’t work for base xbox hence the creation of slipstream, then they decided to not go completely open world, build is 4 months old. Regardless there’s a disclaimer on demo’s for a reason.
Split screen has a lot to do with performance. You’re rendering everything twice…
Please make your statement make sense
okay mr spencer what we have here, to me looks like halo infinite was held back by the base xbox one, and you don’t even trust your “next-gen” console to show off a game demo in a console event.
i’m all for supporting many hardwares, but beef up your game in the more powerful machines, cuz it looks like infinite is an xbox one game that will run on higher res and framerate on the xbox series x, nothing special, even the textures looks awful
next time when you come give us a speech, don’t be a hypocrite weeks afterward

While I’m sure the Xbox version had plenty to do with it I think the main issue is art and gameplay design.
The gameplay was just Halo with the most generic stuff from other games added in.
On PC without attracting as well. They said it would come in a future patch.

Nothing special about this s*it.
Gamers today = Arrogant graphic wh*res.
If you think the gameplay they showed is anything interesting or “next gen” you are delusional, ah yes…the graphics are dated too…but that’s the least of its problems.
Gamers today = Eat sh*t and proud of it
What were you guys expecting? Ray Tracing turned to 11? Uncanny Valley? No… what i saw looked good. It looks like a PC game running at 4k 60fps with an open world and fairly great graphics. Thats great…its what console gamers have been asking for. And its cross gen…so be happy. If you want more…build an expensive gaming PC. It looks like what i would expect for a 400 to 600 dollar console. My rtx 2060 super cost more than that at launch. I think people are getting in over their heads when they think of the graphics capability of the next gen consoles (even next gen pc cards arent going to be that much of a leap past what we have now). We have reached a point where gameplay is what trully matters. And in that regard…i think this game and most of the ones shown look good.
Bland gameplay in an open world is not new or exciting. Destiny games are an example of this.
You are the perfect customer.
“What were you guys expecting?”
Good art design with passable visuals, instead there was neither
These people aren’t logical. I’m sure they complain more than they actually play games.
Looked like total CRAP. What a huuuge f*ckn letdown. All this talk about nextgen and it looked really ugly for a several year back game, WTF are they doing :/
That actually makes the PC experience looking far worse off then, if that’s their excuse.
Where is Sp4ctr0 Spencer now with his 12 Tflops of BS?
Halo Infinite looks like an Xbox360 game, PS5 games look so much better!

That’s a pretty cool texture pack of Halo for Minecraft, right?
what are we looking at here? looks like some sort of turd had s*x with a potatoes to bring everyone this mess
wait a min, if Halo was played on PC, that’s even worse news right?
of course that’s an xbox, they just ran out of shoe boxes to put them in. Thankfully, there just happened to be an empty computer case in the cabinet there for redundancy, you’d be surprised how many shoe boxes catch fire just by turning the console on.
