Final Fantasy 7 Remake-new-2

Official Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer all but confirms PC version, includes PC gameplay footage

Square Enix has just released Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS4. As we’ve already reported, the game will be exclusively available on Sony’s platform for one year. And, from the looks of it, Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be coming to the PC in 2021.

The latest official trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake features gameplay that was captured on the PC. Thus, this trailer basically hints at a future PC release.

On one hand, it’s good that Square Enix has clarified the gameplay footage present in its latest trailer. This could also explain why this particular footage looks so crisp, without any aliasing or shimmering. Furthermore, it confirms what most of us basically thought when the company announced its exclusivity deal with Sony.

Let’s also not forget that Square Enix initially announced that Final Fantasy VII Remake would be coming first on PS4. The publisher never claimed that this was a PS4-exclusive game. So, and similarly to Death Stranding, we can expect to see this game on our platform at a later date.

Enjoy the following trailer which confirms the existence of a PC version, and stay tuned for more. Do note that this trailer contains spoilers!

  1. They splapped PS4 Logos as a intro, uploaded this on PS account and they put “Gameplay captured on PC” in the video LMAO

  2. The thing is, SE are out of their minds if they think I’m going to pay full price for a mere part of a gamer, a whole year later.

SE always seem to butcher their own games sales, be they via timed exclusivity like with TR, or via delivering much later on (like with FFXV).

This isn’t just one Japanese publisher though, as Capcom do this to themselves, when it comes to PC releases. I wish Japan would get it’s head firmly out of it’s backside, and actually and fully commit to PC, rather than console focus first, PC port later, with a higher price, less features, and a higher chance of poor perf metrics.

    1. Let’s not forget the glorious “augment your pre-order” scheme on Deus Ex: MD. They single-handedly tanked that game by “SquareEnixing” the f**k out of it with their slimy tactics.

      1. They tried to drive up pre-orders by gating “features” behind pre-order numbers. Like milestones in kickstarters. “At 150,000 pre-orders, we’ll add this, at 300,000 pre-orders, we’ll add that…”

Then the cash-shop on top of it. As well as one-time use “deluxe edition” items.

Deus Ex: MD had SE’s slime dripping off it.

Their “ethics department” can burn in a fire too. So tired of all this “sanitized” garbage we get in games these days.

    2. Sony probably pays them millions and millions so they keep doing it. Epic is just copying what Sony has been doing for since the dawn of time

      1. Well it’s a loss for them if they keep doing it, because it just means they’ll end up joining the blacklist, just like Ubi/Gearbox/Deep Silver have done.

      1. That was never stated anywhere, in game or from the devs. It’s just a retelling of the original game, as they’re stated.

          1. Not at that price.
You don’t have to play it to understand the developers written and advertised intention.
Multiple dimensions were never mentioned anywhere. You can’t just make stuff up and proclaim it as truth.

          2. “You don’t have to play it to understand the developers written and advertised intention.”

            which is a lie.

Look watch the ending on youtube, its not the same game anymore.

          3. A remake is free to retell the story or change it.

It’s not a different game. It’s not some parallel universe either.

  3. My favourite thing so far about this game’s media coverage is witnessing Digital Foundry gushing that it nearly manages to maintain a steady 30fps on consoles!

  4. Once you get passed the hype and nostalgia you realise that it’s actually a pretty dull playing remake.

The demo was so disappointing on a gameplay level.

    1. I haven’t and won’t purchase it, I downloaded and played through the demo. That was enough for me to realise that the game play was very boring.

      1. This is where I sit. I gave it a shot, and even tried to like it, but it’s deleted now, and I likely won’t touch it again.

Thankfully, I’m not drunk on nostalgia, making me blindly love anything FF 7. If it’s crap, I’ll call it as I see it.

  5. Yup. It’s a year exclusive for PS4. Can’t wait to play it on the new rtx 3080 (if it comes out by then).

  6. Right, because I want to deal with the idiotic “stagger” system for 40+ hours all over again, like I stupidly did in XIII, 11 years ago. Fool me once…. and all that jazz.

That’s to say nothing of their idiotic money-siphoning “3 part” release. SquareEnix is worthless trash, that makes nothing but worthless trash anymore. The only things to come out of SE that worth more than a piss in the past decade, are third party games they’ve published, or, out-sourced games to far better developers.

This is going to be nothing more than a pretty-looking, “press-one-button-to-win”, yawn-inducing, pile of s**t.

    1. Stagger was worst system they ever introduced. Can’t believe they still hold on to that. I guess it’s meant for masses just wan’t to spam attack instead of thinking which moves to use

  7. I did on the first Playstation, never got what’s up with the hype in FF games, clearly is not a series for me. I thought that they were always overrated games, like Mario’s.

    1. All Marios? No, no….. you cant say that for example the first Yoshis Island is overrated. Everything is perfect about that game….. from the art style, music, gameplay, it never gets boring. Yes. some newer Mario games are “money grab” but there are some good and original Mario games.

      1. The first game i ever played that i remember is the original Super Mario on the NES (the console was called Family System around here). Is a good game, the same you can say about Yoshi’s Island. I still think they are overrated.

        1. First Yoshi Island is actually good, something “original” but the later Yoshi games are nothing special (especially the last ones which are obiviously for kids).

  8. dont get too excited, this only part 1 of the game, there will be two more and the story isnt the same they changed it, i watched a few hours of it, it is very linear and gets old after a while. Should be good on a sale once its finished on steam, but thats about it, this isnt the super wow remake that will amaze you that you expect it to be.

    1. What engine is this on? FF15 had mods that found a way around the censoring.

Also you best believe FF Fans are going to pay at least three times for a single game.

      My buddy – who’s a fan – wasn’t disappointed.
