DotEmu has announced that Streets of Rage 4 will feature retro characters and soundtracks. As such, gamers will be able to play with 12 unlockable characters from the previous Streets of Rage retro games.
Furthermore, the game will have the retro soundtracks from Streets of Rage 1 and Streets of Rage 2. These classic soundtracks will be a must-have for all SOR retro fans that want to re-live their 16bit days.
In order to celebrate this announcement, DotEmu has released a brand new gameplay trailer. This trailer showcases some of the 12 retro characters, and features the iconic music from the first Streets of Rage game.
While DotEmu has not revealed any specific release date, the Nintendo eShop states that the game will come out on April 23rd. Whether this is a leak or a placeholder remains to be seen.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Meh, i really prefer the 2d pixel art instead this cartoon generic graphics. :Ç
I like both. But honestly, pixel art is so over done right now I’m all in for seeing some beautiful hand drawn stuff. This looks really good.
“pixel art is so over done right now ”
Pixel art which doesn’t look hipster is kinda rare.
You should check out River City Girls. You’ll like it.
I pre-orded the physical version for the Switch. Me and the Lady are going to coop TF out of this.
We also played River City Girls, which was amazing.
Never been this hyped for a 2D game since SOR3

Environments are ugly compared to Streets of Rage 2.
It’s good we can select old pixel art characters, though.
I am so looking forward to this.
They should make a Turtles in Time or Hyperstone Heist (or a completely brand new) TMNT remake with a similar approach. I’m all for it!
