Borderlands 3 will support PC cross-play between Steam and Epic Games Store

Gearbox has announced that Borderlands 3 will support PC cross-play between Steam and Epic Games Store. Moreover, PC gamers will be able to transfer save data between the Steam and Epic PC platforms.

Going into more details, Gearbox will be using the power of SHiFT Matchmaking in order to support PC cross-play.

As Gearbox noted:

“When launching Borderlands 3 for the first time on Steam, and on Epic after installing a new patch, you’ll be greeted by a “PC Cross-Play” screen and the option to enable or disable this feature.

Enabling PC Cross-Play lets you join game sessions with players on Steam or Epic Game Store through Matchmaking and Game Invites. Disabling this feature will restrict you to playing with other people on the same PC platform as you. You can choose to enable or disable this feature at any time via the Options menu, under the General section of the Network & Social menu.”

Regarding the save data transfer, PC gamers will have to do that manually. However, the team states that by doing so, you run the risk of potentially losing your save files. Thus, Gearbox suggests taking backups of your save data.

  1. So you mean, Borderlands 3 will support cross-play between PC and……… PC? Awesome. How generous of them.

      1. Gearbox, Capcom, Square Enix, Bethesda. One thing you can guarantee is that Square Enix will NEVER remove Denuvo from ANY OF THEIR GAMES. Rise Of The Tomb Raider still have Denuvo. Its been cracked 6 ways come Sunday.

  2. Best feature for this is to abuse the fools that support exclusives on PC, the Epic customers.

    Epic, make piracy great again.

  3. Forgot about this garbage, epic games can have it, I honestly dont give a shiet about games that showed the middle finger to their customers.

    1. Unfortunately, most gamers don’t have the brain cells necessary to come to the same conclusion

      1. Sad true actually, the only way I could understand is buying key from G2A since developers call it worse then pirating.

      2. Just look at nier automata. They all complain about how the game has never been patched and you NEED a mod run a paid game in full screen. Instead of review bombing the game to death that reward it with more money. PC gamers are dumb, all these Xbox xpats that have infected the PC community.

        1. I dont think it’s just pc gamers, gamers overall are by and large mentally deficient, which is why big companies keep testing the water for the the new way they can screw us over

  4. how about cross play between legit player and “yaar” player ??
or move “yaar” save game to legit

  5. But you still have to buy it twice if you bought it on EPIC ( i would not know why anyone would do that though)

    1. But my point is who needs save game transfers between steam and epic its not like somebody will buy it twice ? I am still playing games from 2016 no way i can play games quickly enough to play new games. Cheaper for me too.

  6. They are never enthused this much when it comes to bringing Games to GoG. Instead we getting missing features. The recent triple A Games bright over to GOG are all missing features, especially there co-op counter parts. Well the not so AAA games have it all on GoG. But the AAA games are just posted together it seems. Fuq Off Epic and your PC to PC play.

    1. Blizzard announced the latest patch to WC3 Reforged won’t delete your OS parition!

EA announced the latest COD won’t come with a sample of cyanide!

SquareEnyx announced that the FF7 remake isn’t going to just be a disc full of Tifa JPGs!

      You get the point.
