It appears that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will not feature any Supply Drops or Loot Boxes. Infinity Ward’s studio Art Director, Joel Emslie, has confirmed this, stating that the team is not working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system.
Furthermore, players will be able to unlock functional stuff through gameplay in this upcoming Call of Duty title.
“There continues to be misinformed and incorrect info being pushed about Modern Warfare. What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system. Also, functional stuff is unlocked through GAMEPLAY.”
Emslie concluded that Infinity Ward and Activision will reveal more details this week.
In a rapid fire interview with GameInformer, Infinity Ward revealed that the game will, however, have micro-transactions. My guess, though, is that these microtransactions will be for cosmetic items. It will be also interesting to see whether there will be any “time-save” items. Moreover, we are curious to see whether Activision will add any loot boxes after the game releases. We’ve seen this happening in the past, so this is something we should also take into consideration.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on October 25th and will support DXR and Ray Tracing. Infinity Ward will be using Ray Tracing in order to enhance the game’s shadows. The game will also take advantage of photogrammetry.
This new COD game will also support cross-play between PC, Xbox One and PS4. Furthermore, the PC version will have uncapped framerates, FOV slider, advanced mouse settings & more.
I’ve also included below the latest official trailer for COD: MW that passed under our radar. This trailer came out five days ago and focuses on its Special Ops mode. Do note that Special Ops will not be exclusive to PS4. This 4-player co-op mode will be available on all platforms.

Apparently you’re the clueless one if you think Activision isn’t the one calling the actual shots here and it doesn’t matter what the developer says, they ultimately have no say in the matter and Activision will be the ones to add them into the title.
Was the last game an Activision title? Yes.
Did the developer for that title also say the game didn’t have loot boxes? Yes.
Was the last game a strict BR game? No.
Does this game also have a BR mode? Currently rumored to be coming next year.

“Pirate everything” is too much, not that i would judge but i still like to support good indie games on Steam, but AA or AAA usually these days are a hard pass or at buy with a deep discount.
Literally the last AAA games i bought on release these past 5 years was The Witcher 3 (GOG), Sekiro (Steam) & God of War.
The quality of games have been going downhill for a while now. I remember growing up with SO many good games to get year after year between consoles and PC.

this type of decisions are not up to the studio but the publisher which is the same for Black Ops 4 and Modern Warfare.

The only way Activision will learn is when people do not pre-order the game and buy it a few months later at a cheaper price. But hey its Activision…they never learn.
Or…. they already have learned and are releasing a solid CoD game with an inventory system very similar to the last successful version, with a non-grindy unlock system that rewards playing the game, not paying to avoid it.
