STALKER feature

First gameplay trailer released for the STALKER-inspired game in CRYENGINE 2, STALKER: Legacy of Times

The team behind STALKER: Legacy of Times has released its first gameplay trailer. According to the developers, STALKER: Legacy of Times promises to be a high-quality full-fledged STALKER-inspired game, that will be using CRYENGINE 2.

STALKER: Legacy of Times started as a mod for Crysis Wars. However, this modification will be completely free and will come out as a standalone game. In other words, you won’t have to own the first Crysis or Crysis Wars.

Furthermore, the game territories will be located northeast of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and weapons creation will be finished in the later stages of development.

Lastly, here are the key features of the game:

  • Explore the territories to the northeast of the Chernobyl station near the borders of Belarus.
  • An open world of about 4 square kilometers, including underground facilities with their own secrets.
  • Continuous storyline with a wide variety of side quests.
  • Implemented systems of trading, weapon modification, and equipment creation.
  • New anomalies, new artifacts, a revised and improved artifact search system.
  • New mutants, as well as reworked old ones.
  • Random encounters, solving the puzzles and participating in legendary events.
  • Custom lore, built on top of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy

Enjoy the trailer and stay tuned for more!

  1. Impressive for a mod but that doesn’t feel like the zone to me, what is it with all the shiny effect anomalies? They are supposed to be like weird, screwed up ‘nature’ right? I’ll keep an eye on this though as it does look very good.

    1. 41% off…isnt that the trans suicide rate?

Its interesting how steam is filled with gay stuff having uncensored sex scenes but it does censor adult games from japan or downright ban them.

    2. And then people get mad when i defend EGS taking the games away from Steam. Ghey stuff is contagious, avoid pederasts.

  2. Why would we want cryengine 2? That’s what the first Crysis ran on, and its a insanely unoptimised game engine…

    1. Crysis and Cryengine 2 weren’t unoptimized. They were just so far ahead of their time visually that they demanded high performance.

However, the visuals were so good that the performance was justified. Even a basic GPU can run Crysis easily today.

      1. you are laughably clueless. crysis is most certainly unoptimized garbage. we went on for years not realizing as we thought it was just very gpu demanding. truth is that it does not scale past 2 cores well an even the fastest cpus made today cannot maintain 60 fps in some cpu intensive areas. there are games today that look orders of magnitude better and run much better at the same time. only a damn moron would consider crysis to be very well optimized.

        1. Only a moron would expect games of that era to scale well on multiple cores on today’s CPUs. Parallel processing was not a thing that was important then. Single core performance was what was important and it’s what Crysis benefited from. Yes obviously there are parts of the game that weren’t well optimized but every game has those. Certain areas where the developers missed out or forgot. But as a whole, Crysis single handedly pushed game visuals leaps forward. And it even looked better than many games that came out after it (Skyrim, CoD etc.)

Yes, obviously games of today run better and look better lmao. That’s the product of research and industry wide growth. When Crysis came out there was no significant industry wide research into rendering techniques. Crytek was at the forefront and Crysis did a lot of things no game did before.

“only a damn moron would consider crysis to be very well optimized.” Nobody said this. Learn to read.

          1. of course an older game will not magically scale on to multiple cores and I never said it should. the main POINT was that even today’s cpus which have MANY MANY times the IPC of cpus back then still cannot always deliver 60 or even 50 fps and are still cpu limited in Crysis. that is not the only issue with optimization in the game but it shows that even brute forcing with today’s best cpus still is not enough to maintain even 50 fps which is laughable for such an old game.

and if you had actually kept of with the game, Cevat Yerli was acting like the game would take full advantage of 4 cores. this turned out to be a lie and they even removed the core 2 quad logo branding and advertising when the game launched.

      2. I’m not sure that is true – they focused on clock speed over core count, meaning even my GTX 1080 struggles to run the game today with my 5820k as the game refuses to use more than 1-2 cores. It’s a stutterfest that makes it feel unplayable

    1. So if this game is Stalker Legacy of Times (SLOT) then maybe we should wait for a spicy sequel named Stalker Legacy Under Tyranny, haha!

  3. Why bother with this?!
We have the STALKER series with literally hundreds of mods..and a modded STALKER still looks visually far superior than this!
